BBC:

BBC Gaza correspondent Alan Johnston is spending his 45th birthday in captivity after being kidnapped nine weeks ago, amid continuing fighting in Gaza.

Vigils to mark it will be held by the BBC in London, Tehran, Moscow, Hong Kong and Ramallah.

You’re absolutely right Forkboy. These Kalishnikov-wielding idiots and religious fanatics don’t realize how much these pointless abductions hurt their international image and their cause.

I stopped caring about the Palestinians years ago. They and their Israeli adversaries behave like stupid children. Fuck ‘em

Such actions within the Palestinian territories does tend to make one feel less sympathetic to the causes (many of them correct) of the Palestinian peoples.

This reporter has nothing to do with the ongoing struggle between Israel and the Palestinian people.  His abduction is without merit or purpose and only acts as a disservice to the moderates within the territories.

They, the moderates, need to step up to the plate and demand the immediate release of Mr. Johnston.  Otherwise they are simply as guilty as those elements who abducted him.
