Iran May Prosecute Sailors

The Iranian foreign minister has said the 15 Royal Navy sailors and marines detained on Friday could be charged with violating Iran’s territory, although Britain insists the personnel were in Iraqi waters. Iran has also accused the sailors of spying. News of their capture came as the U.N. Security Council toughened sanctions against Iran.

BBC:

Fifteen Royal Navy personnel captured on Friday could be charged with illegally entering Iranian waters, officials in Iran have warned.

Iran’s foreign minister said the issue was “being considered legally” and suggested there may be charges.

But Tony Blair and Foreign Secretary Margaret Beckett have insisted there was no violation of Iranian territory.

The Foreign Office said it is continuing to press for access to the group, and information on them.

We all know the muslim faithful are so very nice to those in this world that don’t walk like they do, believe in the same garbage as they do, and will only kill those who disagree with them.  In fact, everyone that has posted here would be killed by them because they don’t EXACTLY agree with them and therefore, are deemed infidels and should die.  We should help Iran get nuclear weapons so they can set every major city on this planet in flames.  This would make all those who have political agendas happy.  I mean, don’t you ALL want to be muslim?  Don’t you think you should be killed for believing in a different religion?  Of course you do.  Otherwise, why would you EVER side with a maniac that wants everyone ELSE dead because they are not muslim?
If anyone actually thinks Iran can change where it’s territorial waters are regardless what the entire rest of the world knows is true, then why don’t you just execute the soldiers yourself?  I for one would never believe anyone who’s religious beliefs state that they can lie or cheat or do or say anything they wish when dealing with non-believers.  A undeniable confrontation is on its way.  And all those who are pissing and moaning now, will later have to stand up and defend themselves or be killed by those who have different religious beliefs.  If anyone actually THINKS they can REASON with someone who THINKS YOU should be dead, and actually THINKS they will go to heaven by KILLING YOU, then you already have missed the point and are devoid of reasoning and logic skills.

the real reason the Iranian’s snagged these guys is because they wanted to use them as leverage for the UN talks going on right now about their nuke program!! the same thing happened last time the UN was to meet !! only they were Israeli troops and it was Iran’s proxy army Hamas who grabbed them and cause the July Lebanese war !!

the comments i quoted below only shows the total ignorance of may who post here !!  Hello people !!! your country and there friends (Britain) are at war with Islamic extremism !! this action among the many other Iranian transgressions over 35 yrs proves it !!! i say no negotiation no trade for Iranian spies captured in Iraq for the killing our troops.

lets start the bombings of the weapons factories and the Ayatollahs hiding place’s today!!  they screwed up this time, England is not feckless Spain, or Italy, there will be no appeasement with the enemy, from the government in London !!! this is the beginning of the end for this Terrorist regime in Iran !!

to the Comment #60535 by John Lewis III “I would be inclined to believe the Iranians, a lot more, than the British or the Americans who have constantly lied to the world, right and left.”

-i don’t even know were to start here ??? all i can say is I’m not even surprised and you sir are horribly mistaken !! Iran has repeatedly lied to the west for the last 35 yrs !! you just wish to blame your own government instead of looking at the facts !!

to the Comment #60475 by Quy Tran, “ Yes, just prosecute them as terrorists or spies then hang them high as Bush/Cheny/Blair did to President Hussein”
.

I would be inclined to believe the Iranians, a lot more, than the British or the Americans who have constantly lied to the world, right and left.  Crying wolves might be taken seriously once or twice but in the case of UK and USA no one believe them anymore. So I am under the impression that this incident will be used as a pretext to attack another oil rich soverign country. And who will pay the price again?  The sailors, the soldiers and the Iranian civilians who will happen to be in the firing line, never the ones who will declare the war. J.L. III

Iran is just using this new incident as a tool for leverage. This “president” and I use that term loosely, is a deranged madman who will stop at nothing until he gets a nuke. He will then try and start WW3. Whoever says hang the Brits up high is equally as mad and most probably a Muslim with a point to prove. “President” Hussein deserved to die for what he did and even you cannot argue that. These Brits simply sailed a liitle too close to the Iranian waters and now look!! I want peace like anybody else, but we cannot be bullied by some mad mullers who wouldnt know what the truth was if it smacked them round the chops!

Iran may just give them the same interogations given by the CIA and US military which “did not breach” the Geneva Convention Accords. Then they may get a “fair trial” under exactly the same standards as at Gitmo!

Could this incident be one of the triggers for a US or US-supported attack on Iran?

According to some published reports, plans have been made for an attack on Iran and it is simply a matter of time and opportunity for the Bush-Cheney administration and their associates to implement these plans.

Creating justifications for such an attack, like the alleged reasons for the invasion of Iraq, are part of the Bush-Cheney/neocon method of operation. For more on this, see:
