U.N. Beefs Up Iraq Effort

Ban Ki-Moon said the United Nations is boosting its efforts to address a growing humanitarian crisis in Iraq. Speaking at a U.N. conference on Iraq’s economy, the secretary-general urged the 90 nations in attendance not to abandon the war-ravaged country.

During the same conference, Iraqi Vice President Adel Abdul-Mahdi unveiled a five-year plan for Iraq’s future, complete with benchmarks.


BBC:

He said the UN was strengthening its humanitarian efforts and working with Iraq’s neighbours to address the needs of Iraqi refugees and displaced people.

The meeting was called to review a plan to rebuild Iraq’s economy.

Representatives from almost 90 countries and a number of international institutions are attending the meeting on the five-year International Compact with Iraq, launched last July.

The main point is that do Bush/Cheney “abandon” this war torn country and let the United Nations
do its jobs as usual ? Or they still want to make more benefits from it ?
