Ohio Election Workers Sentenced for 2004 Rigging

Jacqueline Maiden and Kathleen Dreamer were each sentenced to 18 months for rigging a ballot recount in Ohio after the 2004 election. The judge seemed to agree that there may have been a conspiracy to defraud the voters, saying, “I can’t help but feel there’s more to this story.” According to the Brad Blog, had John Kerry won just six more votes in each of the state’s precincts, he would be president.

Brad Blog:

And I can’t help but feel the two election officials should have been sentenced to 18 years instead of months (though we understand that to be the max sentence), given the number of folks who have died in Bush’s War since the 2004 Election and the fact that there were enough votes in Cuyahoga County (Cleveland) alone to give the race to Kerry instead of Bush had the election been administered legitimately.

Just for the record, only 6 votes registered for Kerry instead of Bush in each of Ohio’s precincts would have changed the result of that election.

Let’s not forget Bush won the popular vote by more than 3 million votes. Anyway you slice Ohio, Bush was the peoples choice.

1) Gore won the popular vote in 2000. That amounts not to a hill of beans as we all know.

2) Not this “people.” I sure as hell did not vote for Bush. I also know many who did not as well and feel that their vote was either not counted or somehow tampered with.

3) If it looks like a rat and squeaks like a rat then it has Cheney, Rove and then Secretary of State Ken Blackwell all over it. I’m telling you the election was rigged here and all three of these guys had fingers in the pie.

Re Mr. Badura’s comment #58716.  Well, Jeff, I see you still haven’t read Freeman & Bleifuss, “Was the 2004 Election Stolen” or Mark Cripin Miller, “Fooled Again.”

Ohio was so rigged it isn’t even funny.  I was there in that state to monitor and assist.

FIXED a Presidential election huh?  Wouldn’t that make put them among the most powerful people on the Universe and probably the richest?  Look for a Presidential pardon coming soon for them! That’s the least he could do.  Oh well, even without the pardon, with time off for good behavior, they’ll be out just in time to help out with the next one.

Eighteen months?  What are some of the other crimes you can do and only get 18 months?  That must be right up there with selling weed.

For what they put this country through, they should be HUNG.

Sorry, but the claim by ‘Brad Blog’ doesn’t add up. I guess Brad was sleeping in math class.

Bush won Ohio with 2,859,764 votes to Kerry’s 2,741,165, a difference of 118,599.  So “just six more votes in each of the state’s precincts” would not have even come close to changing the outcome.

Let’s not forget Bush won the popular vote by more than 3 million votes. Anyway you slice Ohio,  Bush was the peoples choice.

Now you get to live with it.

Seems to me they should be held responsible for the lost lives of our young men. That’s two elections stolen. If we were a foreign country we would have been monitiored. Maybe we should let the Iraqi’s monitor our next election.

Will the major media finally pick up on this story?

And 18 months is a small price for thwarting the will of a democracy…..No correction, stealing the will of democracy ....

I agree with the posters on the link, it should be 18 years.

Ohio? ....exit polls were very inaccurate in comparison to the “offical” results highly unusual occurance in modern polling history.

Nationally largest voter turn out in the country since 1968.

68’ a year with a war, drafts, riots in the streets and cities burning. I would guess, that was also a high voter turnout year. So all the more impressive comparison? No?

Large voter turnout, normally means people go out to vote for a change?

But somehow not in 2004?  It was stay the course? and again by just a slim margin? Were there Republicans sitting home not voting in 2000? that were now somehow movitivated to vote in 2004? Democrats/independents so happy with the Bush mess by 2004, they wanted to reelect?

It’s dubious to me.

I’m sure the delusional wacky right will say this judgement was political and dismiss it out of hand….A court of law with a public record of what transprired.

Yet, these same people will unquestioningly believe “confessions” to everything, but clogging the kitchen sink, from behind the closed doors of Guantanamo?

Many years after capture?

From a administration that endorses torture as policy?

From a fanatic? who may be looking for a way out with some sort of self-assigned glory?

When is Ken Blackwell going to stand trial for his role in the rigging of the election? If ever there were someone who should be doing time in a federal prison, it’s him.
