Firefighters Blast GiulianiPosted on Mar 9, 2007
The country’s largest firefighters union has taken presidential candidate and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani to task over his “egregious acts” following 9/11. Giuliani, now the front-runner for the GOP nomination, draws almost all of his popularity from his post-9/11 performance.

Rudy was a phony while the towers were still burning and firefighters were being carried out. I asked a friend in my office at the time what he thought would happen in a few months when these people he was ‘so proud of’ asked for a raise. We all know how that turned out. He closed some firehouses. So much for his phony NYC pride. Seems to go with his family values. He really is trashy.

One day of ‘grabbing the spotlight’ does not a president make!
For proof of that just look at the ‘spotlight grabbing’ of Bush…‘Bring ‘em On!...‘Mission Accomplished!...‘A Crusade!...‘We Dont Torture’...‘Saddam has been attempting to purchase uranium from Niger’...‘You are doing a heck of a job Brownie’...
I could go on but it makes me ill to think of the Chimp for more than a minute.

Rudy Giuliani’s popularity, much like George Bush’s, stems mostly from standing on the pile of rubble after 9-11 and saying encouraging and patriotic things. That’s all very well and good; but any mayor or president would have done the same. In Rudy’s defense, though, at least Karl Rove didn’t write Giuliani’s words for him. Giuliani, though, had better be ready for a maelstrom of criticism in the next year or so, much of it from Republicans, as more of hem find out where he stands on some of their most heartfelt issues.

Gulaini has fooled a lot of people. 9-11 was a huge failure in that the first responders could not communicate witheach other and many of them died unnecessary. Also many of the rescue workers were told of the hazardous toxic enviorment they were working in. As a result of that many of them has since died or are totally disabled.America has always stood by it’s leaders in times of crisis and both Gulaini and Bush have been able to take advantage of that. But as we learned about how incompetent Bush is, we are beginning to learn the same about Gulaini

It seems interesting that Giuliani, like so many others, actually benefited from the 9/11 attacks.
Some politicicans, war profiteers and neocons all experienced good results from 9/11.
And there are many questions remaining about what happened that day.
Firefighters and many others are asking these questions.

I just wrote an analysis of this on my own blog at:
http://therehearsalstudio.blogspot.com/2007/03/next-generation-of-911-stories.html
I am less concerned with the role that this story will play in the “freak show” of presidential politics and more that this is the first serious media story of a “dark side” to the reaction to the 9/11 attack. My guess (and fear) is that we are now going to see more of this kind of story, probably provoked by the inevitable mudslinging that will take place to narrow the field of presidential contenders.
