Bush Greeted With Protests

More than 6,000 Brazilians marched against George W. Bush in Sao Paulo on Thursday in a mostly peaceful demonstration. A small group incited police to fire tear gas and rubber bullets. Protesters in Colombia also clashed with police, and more demonstrations are expected as Bush tours the region.

Reuters:

The trip aims to repair Bush’s standing in the region, where polls show widespread opposition to the
Iraq war and U.S. trade and immigration policies. After Brazil, he will travel to Uruguay, Colombia, Guatemala and Mexico.

“It’s nothing more than to say we want to be your friends,” Bush told Colombian television before he set out.

However, more than 6,000 anti-Bush protesters of all ages marched down Sao Paulo’s famed Avenida Paulista, the business heart of South America, police said.

It is a sign of the desperation of the Bush administration that the ‘decider’ takes on a trip to countries in South America where even his own neo-con breathren warned him against treading.
Lets reflect for a moment on why Bush felt compelled to take this tour of the south…

Everyone knows, most of all the South Americans, that Bush is not going to remove government subsidies to American Agribusiness, so ‘free trade’ in agriculture is a non starter.

Few Americans seem to realize that we import almost as much oil from Columbia as from Venesuela so Bush needs to prop up that connection.

So, other than a visit to Columbia of what use is Bush’s visit?

What about the importation of sugar cane based ethonol from Argentina/Brasil? America now has a 54 cent per gallon duty on the importation of this stuff and Bush is not going to drop that import tax…unless, there is a war in the mid east that drastically cut oil supplies to the US.

Making ethonol is not rocket science and little technology is needed to grind up sugar cane and turn it into a chemical that will burn in an internal combustion engine.

For Argentina/Brazil to produce sugar cane on a huge scale is very economical compared to the US attempting to do the same thing from corn or grass. Bush knows that making ethonol from corn is a losing proposition but using sugar cane is a natural.

Bush is not a traveller and seems happiest cutting brush on the ‘ranch.’ Its just possible that his trip to South America is to lay the groundwork for a future importation of sugar cane based ethonol to America on a large scale.

Perhaps some other readers have a different take on his trip?

What I can’t understand is that despite of being so much hated at home and abroad, with justification and all the right reasons, Bush continues to rule this country and impose his evil will with no signs on the horizon that he is going to be impeached, toppled or removed from office before his term is over.

In my book, only a dictator can do that without regard to the feelings of the majority. Is the U.S. under Bush a “democratic dictatorship” or a “democratic monarchy” to coin two funny combinations that might explain the unprecedented situation that applies to George Bush.

I am really confused and seek input from rational people who might have an answer to this perplexing question!

Homemade ethanol is fuel that they can’t tax you for, fuel that can’t be embargoed, fuel that can’t be traded on the stock market and overvalued 18 times over, homemade ethanol is in fact, ‘farmers fuel’, the capacity to be energy-independent without spending 850 quadrillion in yet-unprinted government promissory scrip, and therefore a threat to the long-standing corporate perpetual consumer dependency model. But, they’ve made their bed, and now they’re going to get to sleep in it…

One should tour their place of EXILE before IMPEACHMENT. Perhaps a tour of Cuba is in order too. In case South America has no use for the Bu$h-Cheney-Rove democracy $hite-$ermon either.
