Make Some Noise for Molly IvinsPosted on Mar 8, 2007A new antiwar campaign takes its inspiration from the late, great Molly Ivins, one of Truthdig’s most popular writers. In the last column she wrote before dying, Molly had this plea: “Raise hell.... Hit the streets to protest Bush’s proposed surge.... We need people in the streets, banging pots and pans and demanding, ‘STOP IT, NOW!’ ” Previous item: Cubans Sneak In During Border Drill at Miami Next item: Gingrich Had Affair During Lewinsky Scandal Elsewhere: . I’m afraid that “Stop the War” is only a mantra/slogan that we’ve come to use to show our dissatisfaction with the Bush administration, the republican party and the “neo-cons.” I don’t believe we think about what “stop the war” means.
Report thisLet me ask this: If we pull out cold, then what? The mid-east is full of wackos who want to hurt us. The US screwed up royally in the mid-east long ago. Do we have any choice but to live with that? Do you think, if we turn tail, the wackos will stop? I don’t. I think no matter what we do now, they’ll threaten us in ever increasing numbers and presence, probably close to home. There is so much religious-based hatred for the US now in the world that there’s a limitless supply of wackos wanting the glory and redemption to be had from a suicide attack against us. It’s now so ubiquitous that the idea of its being managed locally by police is foolish. I’ve thrown in the towel on “Stop the War.” It can’t be stopped, thanks to the US’s global economic policies, our egregious failure to deal with energy, our support of Isreal, and the irrational hold that religion has on wackos.
Ask yourself why the democrats are now back peddling. They’ll maybe pass a couple feeble resolutions for effect and image but that’ll be it. Like ours, their hands are tied. They know they can’t do anything.
Our government royally screwed up and now we’ll have to live with that for a long, long time. My advice, don’t bear children, stay alert and stay out of big crowds and cities. In the meantime throw your support behind the military because, unless you have other viable options, you’ll probably need them some day and probably sooner than later. Maybe the military can hold them off long enough for us to live our American dream for a few years.
Molly was well meaning but unrealistic.

I don’t want to make any noise. I wish to have an absolutely silent to commemorate her last voyage to the other world where she doesn’t have to bear heavy taxes, to listen to liars, to support political liars, and most important not to vote for liars who hypocritically played as normal humans !

So let’s all show up for the “IMPEACH” rally in DC on Saturday, March 17; and don’t forget to bring those pots and pans for banging in memory of Molly. It’s time, it REALLY IS time for us all to begin talking impeachment of both Bush and Cheney. The damage to this country by those two is unspeakable. IT’S TIME TO RAISE HELL!

Re: the continued inability to get our troops out of Iraq.
Up to this point, all the blunders, stupidities, lies, losses and costs in the Iraq belonged exclusively to Bush and the delusional set of sycophants surrounding him. FROM NOW ON however, every useless death of both our brave young soldiers and any innocent Iraqi women and children should be laid at the feet of the gutless Democrats and intimidated Republicans who refuse to do what is necessary to halt that improperly declared and baseless war. Every ally disgusted, every trillion wasted, every corruption overlooked, every law broken, every pain of the wounded, every moral high ground surrendered and, worst of all, probably almost every new terrorist created from this point forward becomes attributable to those in Congress who remain so blind, so callus, so frightened, or so inept that they can’t or won’t speak out to stop the fiasco - immediately - by whatever means are available.
As Bush has pointed out, either you are with us (those who were right from the beginning) or you are with them (the lying, greedy, hypocritical Administration criminals who got us in the hopeless mess we are).

This morning on C-SPAN Brian Lamb asked if it was ok if government officials could lie in order to protect the American people. Molly Ivins believed in the truth. Her legacy was the truth. We do not pay taxes to listen to liars, no matter what their station in government is. If we support political liars, Then we are no better than our enemy. God help us all.
