Best Joke of the NightPosted on Feb 25, 2007
Ellen DeGeneres opened this year’s Academy Awards ceremony by celebrating its newfound diversity, and she pointed to the bigoted rants of Michael Richards, Mel Gibson and Tim Hardaway: “If there weren’t blacks, Jews and gays, there would be no Oscars ... or anyone named Oscar, when you think about it.” What was your favorite Oscar moment? Wow, this is weird, to see an American website featuring a story about a quintessentially American event, the Academy Awards, using the story from an AUSTRALIAN paper. Especially after I bought the paper today (Tuesday is when the food section comes out) and I haven’t even read this story. I tend to focus on the politics and opinions (and food) and ignore the entertainment news, even though this was the top o’ the page article on A-1 this morning. You would not BERLIEVE how much Aussies focus on American events.
