The Iraqi president and prime minister have welcomed Tony Blair’s decision to withdraw some troops, and Iraq’s national security adviser said he only wished the force reduction would happen sooner. The British prime minister announced Wednesday that he intends to withdraw 1,600 soldiers from Southern Iraq.

BBC:

The prime minister acknowledged that Basra was still “difficult and sometimes dangerous”, but he said levels of murder and kidnappings had dropped and reconstruction was under way.

He said that it was important to show the Iraqis that Britain - and the other multinational force members - did not intend their forces to stay longer than necessary.

Mowaffak al-Rubaie, Iraq’s national security adviser, praised the efforts of the British Army but wished the pullout could be quicker.

He told BBC Radio 4 programme: “We would have hoped that the process would’ve been accelerated further and speeded up rather than be spaced out. “

The Coalition of the Willing is becoming the Coalition of the Leaving. Cut n runners all. Watch out for the ‘things are going so well we’re leaving’ buffaloshit from the Bushidos before they cut and run with the Mission Accomplished banners waving.

if the iraqis want the british out & they are starting their withdrawl, the iraqis want us out & we should start withdrawing our troops....too simple for bush to comprehend? He says it’s a positive thing to happen-----once again he has his head in the sand.

The British military is just as overstretched as we are. Tony Blair is smart enough not to bancrupt is country the way Bush will leave us. However his legacy will be forever tied to Bush
for the unnecessary deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent people based on lies. The control and power of the US and Great Britan is the only reason they won’t have a trial in the Hague as war criminals which they both rightly deserve.

After the Bush Administration insisted loudly that in order to obtain “victory” for the increasingly desperate war in Iraq it’s absolutely essential we “surge” the number of troops at risk (increasing them by 16%), the Blair Administration announced an intention to reduce the number of their own troops (by 22%).  That drops the second largest foreign contingent to a mere 3% of our own new total making the so-called self styled “coalition of the willing” even more of a joke, not to mention leaving us wondering what happened to the supposed need for ever more troops to be stationed there indefinitely.

To compound the irony and show our government as even more absurd sounding than before (if that’s possible), Bush’s Secretary of State promptly announced we didn’t need the extra British troops any more.  It would have been tolerable if she’d indicated Bush disagreed with the British draw down, but she had the nerve to spin it in a press conference as somehow all being part of the “plan.”

Several additional questions instantly present themselves.  First and foremost: what “plan”?  Second, are US taxpayers and soldiers to bear the entire burden of that fiasco alone?  Doesn’t anyone else besides Bush and the current Australian leader believe this is truly a “struggle for civilization” itself as Bush characterizes it?  More importantly, is Bush mentally dense regarding such explanations being offered about a plan to increase troops while simultaneously decreasing them or does he just assume everyone listening is mentally incapable?

This is all spin.  The British pulling out is very bad news for the situation in Iraq.  It will get worse before it gets better.

The British are right to leave Iraq, the U.S. and its Coalition allies should quickly follow to prevent a humiliating defeat and disgraceful retreat. The West does not understand the philosophy of Islam. Unlike the materialists of the West, Muslims have no fear of death. Actually the Islamists long for death because they then will meet God (Allah). In warfare, an adversary who is unafraid of death is undefeatable. The Neo-Crusaders must leave the Muslim lands before more imperialist soldiers needlessly also meet God.

British Troops Set Loose By Violent Jailbreak Had Been Caught, Red-Handed, Engaged in Staging a “Terrorist” Provocation

British Troops Caught Planting Explosives in Basra? Do you remember that British Officials admitted that they drew the borders of the Middle East eighty years ago in such a way as to expressly keep the region fighting amongst themselves?

The following news item carries a crucial piece of information missing from Western news agency reports. We’ve highlighted the passage in question which, if true, casts an entirely new light on the incident and may explain why the British military were so keen to free the two men. Had they been questioned for much longer they might have revealed who was really behind many of the bombings in Iraq which have hitherto been attributed to the likes of al-Qaeda and Al-Zaqarwi.

Iraqi police detain two British soldiers in Basra
China View – September 19, 2005

Iraqi police detained two British soldiers in civilian clothes in the southern city Basra for firing on a police station on Monday, police said.

“Two persons wearing Arab uniforms opened fire at a police station in Basra. A police patrol followed the attackers and captured them to discover they were two British soldiers,” an Interior Ministry source told Xinhua.

The two soldiers were using a civilian car packed with explosives, the source said.

He added that the two were being interrogated in the police headquarters of Basra.

The British forces informed the Iraqi authorities that the two soldiers were performing an official duty, the source said. British military authorities said they could not confirm the incident but investigations were underway.

Two Britons Held for Firing at Iraqi Police

Updated
The correspondent who sent the following news item in, reports that although this was originally published, as is, in the Washington Post, later editions omitted a crucial line. We’ve emphasised the line in question to show how critical items are now being carefully and maybe deliberately ignored by the Western news media. The end result being “news” that does little more than misinform and deceive.

British Soldiers Clash With Iraqi Police in Basra
Jonathan Finer and Omar Fekeiki – Washington Post September 19, 2005

From David Cohen - Australia
9-20-5

Jeff - The BBC reported somthing VERY vague about an attack on the Basra jail but it caught my attention, so I switched to the Australian TV channels to find more info:

The reports stated two British commando special forces dressed as Iraqis have been cought by the Iraqis after they were found shooting and killing local policemen. And the Iraqis put them in jail.

The British army then, came with tanks, destroyed the jail and freed the two british commandos. In the process, all the Iraqi prisoners in the jail ran away to freedom.

Riots started, and I saw British tanks engulfed with molotov coktails and British soldiers runing out of thier tanks, some were on fire.

This report give crediblity to the ‘conspiracy theorists’ who have long claimed many terrorist acts in Iraq are, in fact, being initiated and carried out by US, British and Israeli forces.

The TRUTH is the British had to either rescue or kill these two commandos in order to keep these operations secret. Fortunately for the two Brits, they were saved.

The British Commander of the forces involved gave such idiotic excuses I won’t even bother to report them to you.
