The House officially denounced Bush’s “surge” strategy with a 246-to-182 vote in favor of a much-debated resolution against sending more troops to Iraq. Seventeen votes for the nonbinding resolution came from the Republican side of the aisle.

NYT:
WASHINGTON, Feb. 16—After four days of emotional debate over the extent of presidential powers in wartime and the proper role of Congress, the House of Representatives adopted a resolution today denouncing President Bush’s plan to send more American troops to Iraq.

The 246 to 182 vote in favor of the non-binding but nevertheless important measure set the stage for a crucial Senate debate on Saturday on how to debate the administration’s Iraq policy, or indeed whether it should be debated at all.

Step I: Non-binding resolution.
Step 2: Non-binding end to funding of Iraq war.
Step 3. Non-binding impeachment of Bush & Cheney.
Step 4: Termination of 2008 election.

Now that Congress has taken this tiny step towards TROOPS OUT NOW, what’s next?  We keep the pressure on Congress so that it cuts off all funding for the Iraq war, then impeaches President George Bush, after which he’s carted off to the International Court of Criminal Justice, there to be tried for his crimes against humanity whereupon empire collapses, that’s what.  And then?  It’ll be up to us.

Now if we can only get these clowns to stop spending public funds on this fiasco.  The cost is already between one and two trillion dolars.  It is hard to realize how much a trillion realy is.  It is the number of seconds in 32 thousand years.  It amounts to $10,000 for every single household in the U.S.  There are so many usefull things that money could be used for.

The debate brought forth those spurious claims so many Republicans make. On and off the floors of Congress, Republicans make at least 2 claims that make no sense.

“If we don’t succeed over there, the terrorists will attack us over here.” Or, as Mr. Bush said in his 2/14 press conference “If we fail there, the enemy will follow us here”

Do they really believe that terrorists are waiting for some Iraq outcome before trying to hurt us here? If we “win” in Iraq, can we then let our guard down?

“If we fail in Iraq, Al Qaeda will be established in Iraq.”

Putting aside the fact that our invasion first brought some Al Qaeda to Iraq, we have little to fear if more are present. If more of them come, let them deal with the civil war there. And what will they gain in Iraq, use of all the nukes and other WMD that are there?

Republicans also claim that end the war resolutions undermine the morale of the troops. I doubt that most soldiers are affected greatly by Wahington politics. And if you ask them if they would like to see the end of the occupation and come home, guess what they would say.

How many of the republicans that voted in favor of the resolution will be up for reelection in 08?
246 to 182. That is a blow out!

Step I   Non-binding resolution
Step II End funding of the Iraq War
Step III Impeach Bush and Cheney

Let’s hope it’s a three act play!

Well I guess we should be glad for at lest this timid slap at Bush/Cheney. I see that the White House aleady is trying to blame their failures on the opposition, as if that is news.

No matter that we know the false documents are tied to a Rumsfeld appointed official with a goal of attacking Iraq. When an innocent country (in the matter of Internatl terror and 9/11) is attacked using false information, than we can not “WIN” because we are not in the right. Yes we could prevail if we wish to follow Bush/Cheney over the cliff into complete economic collapse, but as has been said “Might Does Not Make Right”. We may prevail, but that is not the same as WIN and we shall be damned for the effort and rightly so.

Or…you can cut the funding in Iraq and bring the troops home.  Enough of this beating around the bush antics….
