By TWOONEZEBRA, February 16, 2007 at 7:54 pm # FIRSTLY, EVERYONE SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN HYPNOTIZED BY THE PRESS AND THEIR CONSTANT ONE SIDED REPORTING THAT THE “ONLY” REASON WE WENT TO WAR ON IRAQ WAS BECAUSE OF WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. THIS IS NOT THE CASE AT ALL. EVERYONE SEEMS TO HAVE FORGOTTEN THE FACT THAT SADDAM HUSSEIN BROKE THE TERMS OF EVERY RESOLUTION PLACED ON HIM AND THAT HE AGREED TO UPHOLD BY THE UNITED NATIONS. EVERYONE SEEMS TO HAVE FORGOTTEN THAT HE KILLED TENS OF THOUSANDS OF HIS OWN PEOPLE, AND USED THE “OIL FOR FOOD” PROGRAM TO CREATE MORE WEAPONS. EVERYONE SEEMS TO HAVE FORGOTTEN THAT THE IRAQI ARMY FIRED MISSILES AT COALITION WARPLANES NEARLY EVERY SINGLE DAY SINCE THE FIRST GULF WAR ENDED AS THEY PATROLLED THE NORTHERN AND SOUTHERN NO FLY ZONES THAT WERE PUT IN PLACE TO KEEP HUSSEIN FROM COMMITTING ANY MORE CRIMES AGAINST HIS OWN PEOPLE. EVERYONE SEEMS TO HAVE FORGOTTEN THAT HE THREATENED VIOLENCE TO ALL AMERICANS. SECONDLY, DOES ANYONE REMEMBER SEPTEMBER 11TH, 2001????!!!! AFTER THIS TERRIBLE TRAGEDY, OUR PRESIDENT DECLARED A WAR ON TERROR. THAT MEANS ALL TERROR, FOLKS! NOT JUST LITTLE WIMPY TERRORISTS, THAT MEANS ALL TERROR NETWORKS, NOT JUST AL-QUAEDA. YES, WE COULD HAVE DEFINITELY SENT MORE TROOPS TO AFGHANISTAN AND TOTALLY CRUSHED THEM FIRST, BUT ANYONE CAN MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACK. THIRDLY, TO IRAN AND AHMADINEJAD. HAS EVERYONE FORGOTTEN THAT IRAN WAS OUR ENEMY AND TOOK AMERICANS HOSTAGE IN THE LATE 70’S AND EARLY 80’S. HAS EVERYONE FORGOTTEN THAT IRAN’S HANDS HAVE BEEN IN NEARLY EVERY FORM OF TERRORISM IN THE LAST THIRD OF THE 20TH CENTURY? HAS NO ONE HEARD AH"MAD"INEJAD SAY THAT THE HOLOCAUST WAS A HOAX? OH, BUT NOW WHEN IRAN SAYS THEY, WHO HAVE ONE OF THE LARGEST OIL CONCENTRATIONS IN THE WORLD, ARE USING NUCLEAR PLANTS FOR PEACEFUL ENERGY ONLY, AND NOT FOR NUCLEAR WEAPONS, WE SHOULD BELIEVE THEM? USE YOUR HEADS PEOPLE!!! AH"MAD"INEJAD AND THE IRANIAN GOVERNMENT HAVE RECOGNIZED THE NEGATIVE REMARKS OF THE PRESS AND POLITICIANS, MOSTLY DEMOCRATS (THAT BUSH ONLY WENT TO WAR WITH IRAQ FOR WMD’S AND OUR SOLDIERS--OUR MOTHERS, FATHERS, SONS, AND DAUGHTERS--,CANNOT WIN IN IRAQ) AS GREAT TIMING TO BEGIN THEIR RISE TO ULTIMATE MIDDLE EASTERN POWER. AND LASTLY, OUR SOLDIERS ARE NOT JUST ENTRENCHED IN A WAR WITH REGULAR CIVILIANS WHO JUST TURNED BAD. THEY ARE THE MINORITY. MOST OF WHO WE ARE FIGHTING ARE TERRORISTS PLAIN AND SIMPLE AND ARE BEING FUNDED AND GIVEN ARMS BY TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS. ONE OF THE MAIN REASONS THAT WE WENT TO WAR WITH IRAQ WAS THAT THEY HARBORED TERRORISTS AND TERRORISM. IF YOU CAN’T SEE THAT BUSH WAS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT, PLEASE STOP READING THIS AND GET OFF THE INTERNET, AS IT IS TOO FAR ADVANCED FOR YOU. IRAQ IS A VACUUM FOR TERRORISTS. WOULD ALL OF YOU RATHER HAVE THAT VACUUM IN IRAQ AND OUR HEROIC SOLDIERS FIGHTING THERE AND, UNFORTUNATELY LOSING 3,000-5,000 OF THEM, OR HAVE THE TERRORIST VACUUM HERE IN THE USA AND YOUR FAMILY FIGHTING THEM ON THE STREETS IN THE CITIES WHERE YOU LIVE? THE USA IS THE GOOD GUY, AND IRAQ, IRAN, AND OTHER TERRORIST ORGANIZATIONS ARE THE BAD GUYS, PLAIN AND SIMPLE. EITHER YOU ARE WITH US, THE USA, OR YOU ARE FOR THE TERRORISTS. IF YOU CANNOT SUPPORT THE USA, YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO PACK UP AND LEAVE THIS GREAT COUNTRY.

By Steve Hammons, February 13, 2007 at 2:10 pm # Ahmadinejad is in a precarious position ... the Bush administration seems to badly want to attack Iran and will be looking for any excuses. It doesn’t seem to matter if it is based on “mistaken” intelligence or other mistakes in judgment. After all, “bad intelligence” about Iraq WMDs and connections to al-Qaida were called an unfortuntate “mistake.” Then, many, many “mistakes” in the occupation of Iraq. “Mikstakes” or “plans?” Now, more mistakes about Iran? By Big Al, February 13, 2007 at 10:53 am # Ahmadinejad is absolutely right. But that won’t help him. Israel will insist that America destroy Iran anyway, and we will do it. Israel is a psychotic nation, and we stupid, sentimental Americans are blindly obedient to Israel. This is possibly the strangest and most tragic political phenomenon in all of history.
By Donna Saggia, February 13, 2007 at 8:37 am # The facts are available, if your readers care to actually read them. The origins of the state of Israel are steeped in the blood of Palestinians, from forced evacuations of villages to underground Jewish terrorist groups carrying out assassinations. The 40-year illegal occupation by Israel of the West Bank and Gaza--in violation of international law--is what the Palestinians are fighting against. No, the Palestinians have not “done this to themselves.” Israel’s cries of “defending” itself while carrying out land theft, targeted assassinations, invasions, torture, the murder of Palestinian children, and house demolitions seem ludicrous coming from the only country in the Middle East with nuclear weapons. The Palestinians have little to derend themselves against Israeli state aggression, but one thing is certain: neither will there be peace for Israelis until they have given back the lands they’ve stolen and allowed back the people they have dispossessd. The Palestinians are fighting “like only people in ‘their own country’ would do.”
By Jim Yell, February 13, 2007 at 7:00 am # I worked for a man years ago who spent his youth in a Nazi concentration camp for the crime of being Jewish. Mr. Ahmadinejad brings nothing to the table, but the kind of jerky view that led to people like Uncle Adolf in the first place. The return to Israel by the Jews started decades and decades before the formation of Israel. WWII excelerated the return. What should have happened, would have been the formation of a nation by the Palestine Moslems and the Jews. A secular state that would have protected people of all faith and none at all, but what did happen is the Palestine Moslems, who had never been a nation, hoped that the Moslem armies would wipe out the Jews and so they fled behind the lines of the advancing Moslems. The Jews who have maintained a centuries long focus on their ancient lands and focused by the Nazi years fought like only people in “their own country” would do. The Moslems did not succeed in their goal of murder. Now if I were Jewish I wouldn’t welcome a people back who have continually called for the death of Jews and the destruction of a successful democracy. That being said I am not without some sorrow for the plight of the Palistine Moslems, but they have the crime of destroying a successful state of Lebanon on their side and of refusing some very creditable plans to ease their plight and bring peace to the area. If they had brought a willingness on their part to behave in a responsible manner, Israel would not have had any defense in holding them apart, but they never have been peaceful. They blame the Jews for really what they have done to themselves. When they stop misbehaving and time passes, the ones who still wish to live in Israel, might be allowed to come back, but after all the mindless killing it will take a long time. Since Islam makes much of its transendence over nationality, a constructive program of resettlement by them of excess population from Palistine would do much to ease the unhappiness. As to nuclear weapons, can we really pretend that they can be restricted to the few countries that have them now. After the un-supportable invasion of Iraq, by our country, using false reasons for doing so, can any country be blamed for wanting the added protection of nuclear weapons? Can the people who have them up to this point really be trusted anymore than the ones who want them now? Bush and the Republicans have largely created this current embarressement themselves. As a nation we are in danger of embracing the guilt for this administrations botched grab for power and oil. Impeaching Bush/Cheney is really the only way we can free ourselves of this. Once this has been done than perhaps people will once again think of us as an admirable people. Otherwise we will just be one more bully on the block.
