Iraq reconstruction
from news.bbc.co.uk

Three Army Reserve officers and two civilians have been indicted for funneling $8 million worth of contracts over two years to a construction company in exchange for luxury items and cash. The officers oversaw some $26 billion in reconstruction funds while they were in Iraq.

BBC:

The group is alleged to have run the scam for two years, from December 2003 when Iraq was governed by the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) following the overthrow of Saddam Hussein.

The officers are alleged to have rigged contracts being awarded by the CPA so they were won by Bloom’s company.

In return, Bloom is alleged to have furnished the group and others with over $1m in cash, vehicles, jewellery, computers, business class airline tickets, alcohol and promises of employment.

In Bush and Cheney we got what we deserved. If any CEO ran his company into the ground the way Bush and Cheney ran America into the ground, they would have been fired by the stockholders a long time ago. Congress is our stockholders, yet they refused to remove[impeach] either Bush or Cheney.High crimes and misdomeaners have been comitted against our constitution. Our nations integrity is gone, our morality is gone. The financial future of our nation is at stake and most Americans neither have a clue or ignore everything as we go along with our lives. The true collaspe of America will we traced to the reign of Bush and Cheney who have been able to use fear and deception to destroy this once great nation.

I’m sure there is some kind of financial windfall for Dick “Halliburton” Cheney and Donald “Bechtel” Rumsfield as well. This whole pathetic war is about nothing other than fattening the pockets of America’s wealthiest 1%.

What element do we expect to be attracted to a criminal war; more criminals, right?

Kinda undermines the Patriotic principle, doesn’t it?

We have literally shipped plane loads (very large planes) of cash into Iraq with very little to no oversight. We’re talking about multi-Billions on each flight people! Lunacy.

Want to know why Dick Cheney was so gung ho about the war in iraq?  Just take a look at the value of his Halliburton stock - before ($360,000) and after (estimates range from $6,000,000 to $13,000,000) The war has made him wealthy beyond his wildest dreams.
