Diplomat’s Abduction Aggravates Iran-U.S. Relations

Security checks have been stepped up since the abduction.

Iran says it is holding the United States responsible for the life and safety of an Iranian diplomat who was kidnapped Sunday. Iraqi officials say Jalal Sharafi was abducted by men wearing the uniform of a special unit under American command, but the U.S. has denied any involvement.

BBC:

Jalal Sharafi, the embassy’s second secretary, was abducted from his car on Sunday in central Karrada district by men wearing Iraqi army uniforms.

Iran condemned the kidnapping and said it held the US responsible for his life. A US military spokesman said no US or Iraqi troops were involved.

The news comes amid US-Iranian tension over Iranian activities in Iraq.

Last month in a dramatic pre-dawn helicopter raid, the Americans arrested five Iranians in north Iraq, prompting Iran to issue a formal protest to the US.

Not to worry. It’s all according to Israel’s plans for us to cause mayhem in the middle east . Iran is next, then Syria.

Chaney and his cronies are not out to protect anything but their bank account and if that takes protecting the Israelis then that’s what they will do. The neocons are to protect wealth and as long as we are not in that 2% who Covent 98% of the worlds wealth we will fight, scratch and claw for anything we receive from them and it wont come easy or with out a price. As the Neocons look around and say who me, we are taking it in the back side and I for one am very tired of it. I do not vote demarcate or republican I vote for what’s best for us and it has for a long time become harder and harder to decipher what is best. It is sad to say that but it’s true we as Americans are becoming a joke in the eyes of the world its time to take back our dignity

The Bush administration is reacting to criticism on its Iraq policy by manipulating the country toward a war with Iran.  Meanwhile, the Democrats who now control Congress can’t even start a serious debate about Iraq.  The press seems to be fueling the flames by repeating the suggestions and unsubstantiated hearsay from the administration.  European leaders are absent, as usual.  Americans don’t seem to care, as usual.  Who is going to stop this next war from happening?

What a dysfunctional society we have become.  Why are we so compliant and quiet when we see another completely unjustified and needless war developing so clearly right before our eyes?

Here it comes . . . Bush, Cheney and their associates will keep provoking Iran toward war.

We probably only read about a small percentage of the actual provocations going on against Iran. Of course, Iran is not totally blameless either.

Cheney and his fellow neocon fanatics are obviously trying to provoke a response from Iran that will “justify” starting a massive new war against that country. They know that the Israel lobby will reward and protect them as we do Israel’s bidding.

The US will be a shambles by the time this evil administration is finished, but Israel will be sitting pretty - and that’s all that matters.
