Double the Troop ‘Surge’ in Iraq?

A new study by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office concludes that Bush’s “surge” plan could actually add as many as 48,000 troops to Iraq—more than double the number the president has pledged. That’s because all combat units need to be backed up by support troops. (h/t: Defense Tech)

  • Also, the cost of deployment could be five times Bush’s estimate.

  • Defense Tech:

President Bush and his new military chiefs have been saying for nearly a month that they would “surge” an additional 21,500 troops to Iraq, in a last, grand push to quell the violence in Baghdad and in Anbar Province. But a new study by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office says the real troop increase could be as high as 48,000—more than double the number the President initially said.

That’s because the combat units that President Bush wants to send into hostile areas need to be backed up by support troops, “including personnel to staff headquarters, serve as military police, and provide communications, contracting, engineering, intelligence, medical, and other services,” the CBO notes.

Just another example of stupid un-informed arrogance from the boy who would play at being “King”.

I have tried to think of a fitting comparison from past history but, I confess when it comes to Laziness (don’t/cain’t reed ner rite), pig-headedness (dont’ ask for real advice), and arrogance (I’m the decider), there has never been and I hope there will never another like this guy. We are being abused by a simple minded, drug-fogged, punk who not only talks to God but God (as he has said) talks to him.  This (I hate to use the word) person actions are, in my estimation, criminal.

It makes you wonder how much oil we’d be importing if we’d dropped 1.2 trillion into alternative energy instead of bombers etc…

    I support impeachment.
