Hillary Jokes About Bill’s Bad Behavior

Hillary Clinton
nytimes.com

While speaking at a rally in Iowa, Hillary Clinton tried out a tactic she may come to rely on during the campaign—humor. Responding to a question about the bad men of the world, Clinton made a veiled reference to her notorious marital difficulties, and sent the crowd into an uproar.

“What in my background equips me to deal with evil and bad men?” she repeated, while smiling, raising her eyebrows and nodding. Although Hillary was forced to deny the joke when the press later descended on her, she offered this plea of sorts: “You know, you guys keep telling me, ‘Lighten up. Be funny.’ You know, I get a little funny and now I’m being psychoanalyzed.”

Full disclosure: Clinton’s campaign has advertised on Truthdig

Largest Minority:

Rally-goers concluded that Hillary was humorously suggesting her experience with Bill was qualification enough. “She was talking about Bill being a bad man. There was no doubt whatsoever,” said Tyrone Williams, an engineer from nearby Bettendorf, Iowa. “That was good,” Williams added with a chuckle. Afterwards, Clinton deflected questions about Bill being her target. During an afternoon press conference, she said, “You know, you guys keep telling me, ‘Lighten up. Be funny.’ You know, I get a little funny and now I’m being psychoanalyzed.” Clinton currently trails Edwards and Obama in Iowa, but that may change if she is viewed as being more likable. This human-like joke will likely boost her in the polls.

Are we all living in a shoe box?

Statistics indicate that we, including all of us have about a 50-50 chance of having an extra-marital affair while married, and it doesn’t take into account we may be on our second or third marriage. Further we have about a 50-50 chance of ending up divorced. So where’s the “Sanctity”?

Grow up people. Quit being so hypoctrical. Shame and guilt because your mate fooled around once or twice Puhlease spare me!!!

Oh lighten up everyone. Why should Truthdig apologize for reporting the news simply because you don’t like the story? It was a funny joke, whether or not she originally intended to make fun of Bill or not. Even the Daily Show reported the incident, coming to the same conclusion that Hillary was referring to Bill. If this was a Republican hit job, it’s obviously backfired. I think the sensitivity and paranoia is way too high in this room. Everyone calm down and focus that energy on some real issues.

Maybe it wasn’t intentional, to bring up her husband, but whether or not her quote was misunderstood, doesn’t matter anyone because it now is. It brought us to most important, until now unspoken, issue of Hillary’s campaign.

What about Bill?

What about his notorius womanizing, fair or unfait she’ll have to deal with it if she want’s to be president.

How can the American people be expected to vote for someone whose self esteem is so low that she would put up with his behavior?

I for one believe that she is too easily controlled and manipulated, because she seemed to believe, her husband did not have sex with his intern.

Did you?

Think about it. If this question were asked of any woman politician, Nancy Pelosi for instance, I think you would have had a similar reaction. Many successfully women must have moments when they can’t think of men in terms other than “Just a bunch of evil and bad bastards; that’s what they are.” So if you ask a woman what qualifies her to deal with these guys, she just might look a bit amused while she’s trying to think of some politically correct way to answer the question.

And I doubt that any male politician would be asked this question, since it’s assumed their very maleness gives them the right stuff to take on all evil and bad men in the world.

We had Vietnam and said never again. Now we got Iraq, and Iran is coming on.

We had (and hated) bush 41 and then elected bush 43

We had bush 43 for 4 years, knew that he was grossly inadequate for the job, and what did we do? Re elected him of course.

We had Billary for 8 years and we hated them for their self righteousness and self indulgence. And what   do the polls tell us? If the election was held today, we would get them for 8 more—for a grande total of 16 no doubt.

And we wonder why things don’t work better.

We are idiots—that is why!

Tyrone Williams may be an engineer in Iowa, but he’s no mind reader.

The only ones in the crowd who immediately jumped to the conclusion it was Bill of whom she implied by smiling, raising her eyebrows and nodding must not know about the Bush cabal she has been dealing with for over six years.

How could anyone skip over the obvious and think she’s speaking of Bill. Only industrial grade idiots would make that leap.

Well, I’m sure Republicans, both declared and the closet variety would like to make this about Bill. That further implies that a woman is not capable of thinking of anything other than personal relationships. Bull shit.

Hilary had better learn to be ready for Republican sniper attacks at all times. It’s the only they know how to play.

I am disappointed that TruthDig would allow such a headnote.  Mrs. Clinton never said she was making a joke about her husband.  This type of innuendo and misrepresentation of the facts can be analogized to the current Republican White House politics and policies.  Write an apology TruthDig.

Now Truthdig is echoing the Republican smear campaign!
Hillary was speaking to exuberant supporters, as she pretended to wonder if she had any experience with “evil men” in response to a question about dealing with the likes of Osama Bin Laden. As audience members confirmed afterwards, she was conjuring up images of people like Ken Starr and Bush, and as the AP reported, they laughed with her and “applauded”. When a reporter asked later if she was referring to her husband, she was offended.
The inevitable right-wing Republican smear campaign kicked in, however, with a story by Lynn Sweet in the Chicago Sun Times in which that incident was transformed into Hillary putting her foot in her mouth and giving people an opportunity to laugh at her because “everyone knew” she was thinking about Bill and his affair. This kind of distortion is then repeated endlessly until people think it really happened. The hacks in the press who are part of these smear tactics know what they are doing and have no shame. Please don’t perpetuate it.
Disclosure: Hillary is not my first choice as a candidate. I just detest those who lower our political process to such a level.

If Kerry was perceived as flip-flopper, how do you discribe McCain?  Streadfast?  Resolute? Waffling in the breeze?

I took her joke to be referring to the Republican thugs that have been stalking her for years. Hillary is way too smart to take such a cheap shot at her husband and her marriage. She leaves that to those who find it far better to attack a marriage that managed somehow to survive than those like McCain, 2nd marriage, Guilanni, 3rd marriage and Gingrich, also 3rd marriage. Anyone who finds St. McCain, the lying flip-flopper a better choice than Hillary must have reasons that I can not see. What exactly is it that Hillary has ever done that makes so many people hate her so much?

If Bill’s all that bad—why doesn’t she sue for divorce?

I hate to see Bill as the First Man of the White House almost as much as I’d hate to see Hillary as Commander-In-Chief!

Personally, I think she was talking about Bush and Cheney.  I know they’re who I think of when I hear the word EVIL.
