Dick Cheney’s former chief spokeswoman testified on Thursday that she told the vice president and his chief of staff about Valerie Plame’s CIA status days before Libby claimed he learned the information. She also said the pair was intensely interested in Plame and her husband, Joe Wilson.

New York Times:

Her testimony under questioning from a federal prosecutor was damaging to Mr. Libby. She testified that both Mr. Cheney and Mr. Libby were intensely interested in Ms. Wilson and her husband, Joseph C. Wilson IV, who had been sent on a mission to Africa by the C.I.A. to investigate reports that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy uranium from Niger for his nuclear weapons program.

Ms. [Cathie] Martin’s testimony was damaging for Mr. Libby in two respects. She bolstered the prosecution’s assertion that Mr. Libby was fully aware of Ms. Wilson’s identity from a number of administration officials, and did not first learn about her from reporters, as he claims. Perhaps more important, she testified as a former close colleague of Mr. Libby’s, and demonstrated her familiarity with him by repeatedly referring to him by his nickname, “Scooter.”

Ms. Martin, who still works at the White House but no longer for Mr. Cheney, described how Mr. Libby had telephoned a senior C.I.A. official in her presence and asked about the Wilson trip. She said she was then put on the phone with Bill Harlow, the C.I.A.‘s spokesman, who told her that Mr. Wilson went to Africa on behalf of the agency and that his wife worked there.

Some days later, she testified, she told Mr. Libby and Mr. Cheney that Mr. Wilson’s wife worked at the agency.

No.
if spark of impeachment it is, then it should be Cheney’s. Remember, if you impeach the puppet Bush, you end up with the same president: Cheney.

From what i understand, elements of Ms Martin’s testimony, albeit full of omissions, are material enough to indicte VP Cheney and subsequently to introduce against him an impeachment procedure expanded to offenses going beyond the Valerie Plame affair.

The removal of Cheney is the only way to stop the crimes and wars, i.e. the armageddon course of this current Bush administration. And it is a matter of the utmost extreme urgency with regard to the multi-layered desastrous situation due to the ongoing US war-mongering in Somalia, Iraq, Afghanistan and soon Iran. With a Bush bereft of his puppeteer Cheney, an immediate and massive “swift-boat” PR action against K.Rove would promptly result in the removal of this dirty trickster and Bush-brainmaster, leaving the notoriously incompetent Bush-puppet at the hands and at the orders of the very people who (would have) orchestrated this strategical patriotic duty of “cleaning up the treason committers at the White House”

any Dems with honesty and with balls out there?

I wonder what kind of plum promotion Ms. Martin will be receiving in exchange for her testimony.  This will be the first step in an attempt to distance Mr. Cheney from Mr. Libby and make it appear as if Mr. Libby was acting alone.

Let this be the spark that lights the flames of impeachment.

“She testified that both Mr. Cheney and Mr. Libby were intensely interested in Valerie Wilson and her husband, Joseph C. Wilson IV, who had been sent to Africa to investigate reports that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy uranium from Niger for his nuclear weapons program.”

Isn’t evident to all who are still breathing, that Cheney was determined to invade Iraq, and Joe Wilson wasn’t cooperating—he didn’t say Saddam was stock piling WMDS, he wasn’t a compliant Colin Powell.

Leaking to Novak about Plame gave a message to the CIA—don’t cross the administration. One would think that outing a CIA operative would be considered treason, perhaps it is not a crime if you’re Vice-President.

All of them are in the same category. Spitting out then sucking back very easily. We feel sorry for our country with such officials.
