Even Republicans Resist Bush AppealPosted on Jan 24, 2007Despite his State of the Union plea to give the Iraq war another chance, the president is suffering defections from his own party, including a number of GOP senators who have emboldened Democrats in their fight against Bush’s planned escalation of the war.

Another non-binding waste of lives. Start the damn IMPEACHMENT proceedings already. Then we’ll see who has the guts to do what’s right for the country and who doesn’t and we can vote accordingly in 08.

Hey Rodney, let’s settle down and use grownup people language, ok. The democrats have all the testicles they need between Winkie Pelosie and her Highness Hillary. By the way, if you’re going to criticize, at least do it based on fact and not fiction. AMF

Let’s really be honest, the primary motivation for all politicians is pandering for votes. I agree, if the democrats really believed their rhetoric they would be busy de-funding the military to “prevent that crazy Bush for killing more of our finest” rather than bothering with their non-binding resolution. What happened to their mandate? They do this because even they realize that should there be premature withdrawal there would be immediate chaos in the Middle East. I have yet to hear any suggestions for resolution to the problem there other than pull the troops or ask Syria and Iran to enter a dialogue. Talk about idiocy. I am not enamored with G.W., but he at least has the integrity to be true to his conviction. I find the continual criticisms disgusting and would suggest that the new majority party either de-fund the damn war or just shut up!

Any Republican who opposes Bush does so only because their political ass in on the line come next election. Where were they before all of this shit started? They were part of the rah rah crowd cheering on the war if it were the Super Bowl. Opposition came only after the lies and deceptions were exposed and Bush,Cheney,Rumsfeld,Rice totally fucked it all up. Now the Republicans and most of the Democrats are trying to cover their asses in order to save their political careers. What a sorry bunch pathetic leaders we have elected, They can regain their balls back by ending the bloodshed and stopping the war. At this point it takes a bigger set of balls to stop the war and shoe leadership thanto pay lip service in opposing Bush and doing nothing. Where are the true leaders with BALLS?

I find the profound hypocrisy displayed by essentially ALL politicians, of all stripes, in all countries, positively nauseating.
Here’s the US Congress… all dressed to the nines for the occasion… standing and applauding the entrance, speech and exit of a President that the majority of them do not like and whose policies they do not support.
So I ask, Why do they applaud when they do not agree?
I answer myself with “because they’re a bunch of gutless penguins terrified of appearing to publicly declare their HONEST views in the presence of their peers.” I guess, once declared, everybody knows their REAL game and they feel that somehow their power is dissipated. (I assume here that some of them even HAVE views of their own. I think most of them just follow the party line and do what they’re told… and take home a few hundred grand per year OF OUR MONEY for contributing essentially NOTHING while not causing a fuss.)
But that’s what it’s all about isn’t it? POWER. Not POWER WITH…(for the benefit of all) but POWER OVER…(for the benefit of self). It’s all about CONTROL and MONEY.
Every once in a while one of them makes a stand… Kennedy comes to mind. But somehow, the REAL power people behind the scenes (who knows who?) find effective antidotes to any venom the less powerful inject into the issue. So let the few “tell the truth” - it won’t get them anywhere because they just don’t have the where-with-all to overcome the REAL power. Collusion. Corruption. Deception.
And WE, the “little people,” get to pay for it all.

Democrats emboldened? To do what? Pass more “non-binding resolutions?” What silly nonsense. More troops are already pouring into Iraq, and Bush is getting set to raise taxes on the middle class after giving the rich their huge break.
