Anti-Bush T-Shirt Deemed ‘Security Threat’

Bush T-shirt
news.com.au

Allen Jasson and his dangerous T-shirt.

A traveler in Australia was stopped at an airport boarding gate when the attendant saw his T-shirt, which had an image of George W. Bush and the words “World’s #1 Terrorist.” Allen Jasson was told the shirt was offensive and a security threat and was asked to remove it. He didn’t, saying he would rather defend free speech than his airline fare.

BBC:

The 55-year-old computer specialist, who lives in London, had encountered difficulties with the same T-shirt on an earlier Qantas flight in December.

After clearing the international security checks at Melbourne Airport, he reportedly approached the gate manager to congratulate him on the company’s new-found open-mindedness.

At that point, Mr Jasson was ordered to remove the T-shirt after being told it was a security threat and an item which might cause offence to other passengers.

In this situation common sense should have prevailed. The gent should have been politely requested to cover up or change in the interests of maintaining a calm environment on the plane. Off the plane is a whole different kettle of fish.
I wonder how a T of Bush and Laden kissing with the message Peace would have been received? Any Quantas officios reading?

Freedom of speech and the United States Constitution is what my family fought for. I still defend and use my freedom! What people dont understand anymore is we the people, are the ones who run this country, and until we all ban together to take our rightfull place in leading the country, it will only get worse and the hate for America will grow. More of our children will die for oil. We must bring our voices together as one to make a change.

Glenda,
You are funny--we should be grateful to Bush and Cheney. Those two have constantly promoted terrorism through their incompetent international policies.

You don’t have to worry about having your “fuckin neck off” your head is already separated from your body--you’re dead from the neck up!

Idiots like that Allen Jasson ("Jackass") don’t know who the real MUSLIM terrorists are out there that wants to cut his fuckin neck off.  In meanwhile, BUSH/CHENEY has done an excellent job of warding off further terrorist attacks on US soil and have decommissioned thousands of terrorists and have the rest on the run....For that great effort, ASSHOLEs like this Jasson Jackass shows their ingratitude...this is how the idiots have emerged out of their fuckin cockroach holes...that fuckin British shithead should put the uniform and do his stinkin share of the fight against the real TERRORISTS, instead of jerking off at airports.

firstly, the shirt doesnt offend me and i actually agree with it (and think it highly humerous) however…

would you want to be stuck thousands of meters in the air with someone wearing an inflammatory shirt that would probably piss off someone else and could start a fight in the middle of nowhere?

My other half is afraid of flying as it is, she would freak out if someone wearing a shirt like that was on our flight.  no thanks.

we in australia are VERY tollerant of people speaking their opinions, but in a situation like on a plane I’ll thank you very much for just kicking back and not starting anything. smile

Mr Jasson has just experienced what many have long suspected in Australia.
Lest we forget?
WE have forgotten the terrorism of living under a nazi fascist state and have NOW reverted back to one.
Wont be long we will have to be “identified” with a biometric scan or microchipped ID card that will “assess” our fitness to use or utilise public or private utilities and services.  Those who dont measure up will be metered out.

Welcome to the New World Order.... It has already begun.

Sometimes the measure of accuracy of a statement is the length to which the opposition will go to suppress it.  Given Bush’s proclivities, I’m surprised Bush did not just have the traveler shot.  Perhaps Cheney’s memo on that subject had not reached airport security.

I heard about this story several weeks ago. Prisonplanet.com, baby.

I was recently screened for wearing through the airport a shirt with a picture of Jefferson and the quote: “Every generation needs a new revolution.”

Who the hell do TSA think they are? CENSORSHIP in our airports, what’s next? Can you wear a truth shirt on a public bus? “Papers! Show your papers!” Fuck this corrupt NAZI regime in the white house. George Bush is Aleister Crowley’s grandson. The evil satanist. Google Barbara Bush Aleister Crowley to find out for yourself. It turns out we’re worse off than we thought.

It’s time for a revolution!

And yes, I trust alternate media sources much more than CFR, Tri-lateral controlled outlets.

What a joke!  Fascism here we come! As Ben Franklin said, “They that would give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”

Here are two t-shirts from my collection.
I wear as frequently as possible:

So far I have not been kicked out of or off anything.  I’m getting this one soon, though, and that may change the above statement:

Stopping this guy is just silly and does nothing but put into question just how effective airport security really is. It reminds me of the people tapped to help “rebuild” Iraq and how they didn’t need to be able bodies only Bush supporters. I wonder if airport screeners are similar.

I personally am waiting on the U.S. Terrorist Playing Cards set. I’m sure there are enough administration officials to fill out a full deck of cards. The only problem is: does George Bush go on the Ace or the Joker? If only this was the most vexing problem facing our country…

May this send a clear message to terrorists (at least the less clever ones):  when attempting to hijack an airliner do not wear shirts with provocative messages printed on them.

Thanks Quantas, for tipping off the evildoers.

Now the hijackers will dress like the rest of us, making us feel even less safe.

At least we can rest assured that the few who do manage to wear anti-bush T-shirts aboard airliners aren’t terrorists, leaving the other 99 percent suspect.

Interesting how little things have changed in the last 60-some years. Hell, in all of human history, apparently. Democracy is preached, mostly not practiced in any serious way (Latin America looking as a possible exception. Dobbs was on this evening whining about “Chavinistas”). Well, members of the elite classes, who are raised to know and understand their interests, are allowed to practice dollar democracy (one buck, one vote), not so much Mr. Jasson, you, me, and the remainder of the multitude. We here in the U.S. will be allowed to choose between the biblically named Hillary and John before long. Both have been staunch backers of massive bloodshed, along with the President pictured on Mr. Jasson’s T-shirt—in the name of something or other: WMD (security, which they claim is ours, when they mean their own), democracy, overthrow of a past ally, oil… It’s been about both “security” and oil, interest in which is rationalized as essential to Americans’ and others’ economic security (thus, theft is give rational grounding), and not, needless to say, to profiteering. The democratic era has meant a tendency by officialdom to conflate its and their backers’ interests with that of the multitude. Mr. Jasson’s shirt expresses in part the lie that lies at the heart of the Deus ex machina. No wonder he was deemed a danger!

Let us hope that one day the “gate-keeper” will refuse to follow orders from superiors, though given the fact his or her job hung in the balance, he or she has my sympathy too. Coercion and intimidation are by now subtler arts than they were when practiced by Goeing, Goebbels, Vyshinsky and McCarthy. Mr. Jasson was informed his shirt might disturb passengers, etc. This claim, imparted to Mr. Jasson, also tells us something about what officialdom thinks of airline passengers, indeed of all of us; namely, that airline passengers, all of us, are sheep who are easily frightened. Flight 93 passengers were not sheep, but officialdom—in its infinite stupidity and blindness to what is human—makes the most absurdly ridiculous assumptions, so frightened are they.

One tee shirt is worth much more than a 1,000 words when Qantas staff is terrorized.  21st century tee shirts seem to be more dangerous then those manufactured forty years ago, when Allen Jasson probably wore one protesting the Viet Nam War—-back then tee shirts were made out of cotton, and didn’t pose a security threat.

However, these modern tees seem to be made out of some sort of terrifying substance that could actually cause airplanes to crash.  These tees are so frightening, that by wearing one to express dissent is considered an act of war.

Last year another 21st century tee shirt was deemed highly toxic, it was worn by Cindy Sheehan at the SOTU, her shirt said, “2245 dead, how many more?” She unzipped her jacket to reveal her dangerous tee, when an officer spotted her shirt and yelled; “Protester.” He then ran over to her, hauled her out of her seat and roughly shoved her up the stairs.

So let this be a warning to all who purchase 21st century tees, they are manufactured with a substance which is so scary that in the hands of the powerful, they are capable of destroying all fibers of freedom.

Congratulations to Mr. Jasson. I would make the same choice. In my world, if someone takes offence at what I believe and/or what I say, THAT’S THEIR PROBLEM… and I won’t allow them to make it mine. I used to fly a LOT… and if you want “offensive” try being forced to sit anywhere near a parent with TWO SQUEALING BABIES for a few hours. Now THAT’S offensive!

There are very few places you can’t get to without using aircraft. There are very few situations of such urgency that require that anyone needs to fly. Ships and trains are far more civilized modes of transport.

Nothing would make me, AND THE ENVIRONMENT, happier than to see the majority of the commercial airlines GO BANKRUPT and be disbanded. We simply don’t need them… or at least I don’t.

With today’s communications - our ability to set up full colour, full stereo, real-time AV links from/to anyplace, there’s simply no reason to be hauling tons of self-important, flabby-assed egomaniacs all over the planet so they can “do business.”

If I were Mr. Jasson, I would SUE Qantas for a FULL REFUND of whatever fare was paid. Qantas rejected HIM… they owe him a full refund. It’s ridiculous for any sensible person to interpret his T-shirt as a security threat.

Shame on Quantas Airlines. As an American citizen I can say unequivically that many of my countrymen believe the same. George Bush has acted in the fashion of those terrorists he seeks to prosecute in this illegal war; it should be shouted from the rooftops everywhere. He has stolen an election, lied repeatedly to the country he is supposed to be serving, raped the constitution, broken laws with his own brand of impunity, and illegally invaded another country on trumped-up reasons. He has acted in a way that has resulted in the death of thousands of our young men and women for reasons that appear to have been primarily those of profit for his friends. He has made this country LESS safe, not more safe. He should be impeached and tried for war crimes.
