Bush Administration Continues to Trash-Talk IranPosted on Jan 15, 2007
Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who only two years ago supported renewing diplomatic relations with Tehran, has taken the administration’s recent Iran bashing to heart, saying the U.S. will beef up its presence in the Persian Gulf to make sure Ahmadinejad & Co. don’t get any ideas: “The Iranians clearly believe that we are tied down in Iraq, that they have the initiative, that they’re in a position to press us in many ways.... We are simply trying to communicate to the region that we are going to be there for a long time.” Is it just a coincidence that so many administration officials include references to Iran in their public remarks these days? One can only hope. Although we wouldn’t put it past this president to launch a catastrophic and irresponsible war on his way out of office.

Gates has about as much spine as a bowl of Jello..
Does anyone believe him? What do you bet Rummy is behind the curtains pulling his strings..
Do they really believe for one instant that people are foolish enough not to see what’s coming?
Their beating the war drums just like they did for Iraq.
Who will they blame when it all goes to hell?

As I see it the USA/ISRAEL will attack Iran in the relatively near future (probably before the summer) unless congress makes major threats to cut off funding. Israel has declared that Iran is an existential threat and there is no way that an attack is not planned.
The Bushites are quite certain that the Democrats will come along for the ride. The chance of the use of nuclear weapons is possible. The chances of a world war are also possible.

Well, now it’s pretty obvious that Rumsfeld wasn’t the problem, isn’t it?

Well I guess the justification for a war with Iran will be easy now. We can just say that we think that they’re getting “ideas”. Cheney’s in his bunker right now drafting those “ideas”.
