Bush Thinks He’s the EmperorPosted on Jan 5, 2007
Adding to a long list of subversive signing statements, George W. Bush has taken the knees out from under recently passed postal legislation that requires a warrant to open mail. You’d think with his army of advisers and aides someone might explain to the president that when Congress passes a law, and he signs it, that’s the law, not a prompt for interpretive rule.

For everyone’s sake - please get the president the psychotherapy he desperately needs - before he destroys himself along with the rest of our constitution. Laura? Congress? Religious advisers? He is not intrinsically evil, but he needs help.

So, if you don’t like Bush, then vote to impeach. Pretty straightforward…

You folks do NOT get it. Bush was installed by the Supreme Court in a coup in 2000. This Supreme Court has become even more Bush-laden since that time. What makes you think that they are going to rule against him? And what makes you think that senators and representatives are going to combine forces to get a constitutional amendment passed or even to impeach this president? He deserves death, not impeachment, but he is the tip of the iceberg. The forces that created the USSR are the same that are creating our mess in the US. Yes, that is right. Universal communism is the goal, so that none of us have rights or property or the means to revolt against the oligarchy.
Who was it (Orwell?) who said, “Everyone is created equal but some are more equal than others?” Yep, that phrase encapsulates the oligarchy’s philosophy nicely.
Those of you finding comfort in the idea that 2008 turnover will take care of this nasty garbage in the white house are delusional. We have the appearance of choice, but in reality are asked to choose between two of the same. Think about it: Hillary is really a Republican, Obama stands for nothing, etc., and they have the campaign cash.
People like Pelosi are really no help. Pelosi’s daughter made a campaign documentary about Bush that was a total PR move for Bush for young people; in the end, she said she couldn’t help “liking” him. If Pelosi were really on the side of good people, she would have never let her daughter make that film. Pelosi’s money comes from drug-running, arms-dealing, nuke-mad Mossad people. That’s AIPAC. The ADL is their PR firm in the US. (And don’t call me an anti-semite!) Not all Israelis are bad, folks, but the right-wing Likud party has taken over the Israeli gov’t and the Mossad are in their pocket. Or more properly the Mossad run the Israeli gov’t.
You think your fellow Americans will wake up, stop watching TV, come to their senses, and stage a revolt? Ha. According to a Pew Center poll, Bush’s poll numbers went down primarily because a large faction of extremists are unhappy that Bush is too moderate. That’s right, too moderate. According to the report, only about 17% of us are liberal, worried about civil rights, worried about crimes against humanity, war crimes, the illegal wars being waged in our name, the loss of resources, human and otherwise, etc. We are decidedly in the minority around here. The rest of Americans are either apathetic, ignorant, pollyanish (thinks Bush means well), big-time economic or social conservatives who are in favor of all that Bush does, or, as mentioned, think Bush should go even further. So much for banding together with your neighbors.
This war has been fully described as a 100-years war (Cheney); that says it all. Cheney, by the way, recently put 94% of his 96 million investments into non-dollar-based funds (cf. Kiplinger report)—he’ll be safe when the shit hits the fan. He also has a place in Europe, as do many, many other neocons. Other examples: Richard Perle has a chateau in Provence. Michael Ladeen (architect of Iraq war and also Iran-Contra scandal) has a villa in the hills of Rome. Even Bush’s ranch in Texas is OFF THE GRID. For a powerful oil man to be off the grid tells you something. They will jump ship, my friends, and have protected their assets accordingly.
Report thisWe already live in a fascist state.
What will it take for us to leave this country behind, emigrate to a better place? What are we waiting for? Another 9/11? A wider war in the Middle East (one is brewing)? Will Bush & Co kill more Americans this time to get us to go to war against Iran? Maybe just a housing bust will tip the US economy and the world away from dollars. In the meantime, expect the US to go to war with EVERY country that refuses to trade in dollars.

Start the lawyer wars now. The least we could do is to sue the bastards to _correctly_ perform their duties (enforce the law as it stands without modification by the signing statement). IANAL but I believe there is a writ of mandamus that can be served on a government official to require them to perform their duties. This will obviously go through several layers of appeals so start early.

In two years he will be permanently out of the sandbox and he will not be able to take his toys with him. This must be sending the drunk-in-chief into paroxysms of ultimate paranoia. All his life he was a destructive nobody, even with daddy’s crutches and in 24months he will be back to being a nobody, unemployable, unimportant and oh-so finished. I think it’s time for a Constitutional amendment banning all “signing statements”. This would force the president to enforce duly passed acts of the Congress and Senate. The “Decider shouldn’t be one person, the “Decider” should be the governing bodies.
Allowing signing statements is tantamount to a Kingship.
When did this practice become recognized as legal?

Will we actually HAVE a 2008 Presidential election?
Or will our “fearless leader”, Mad King George and His Band of Merrie Fascists determine that the country is in danger when running an election, so he’ll simply suspend it “for the duration of the emergency”.
Meanwhile, he’s building the private army, Blackwater, plus salting the military with right-wing christo-fascists.
That way, when Mad King George commits his ULTIMATE treason, by declaring martial law and the end of our beloved United States, he’ll have fanatical killers in place to make certain he stays “The Decider” for a long, long time.
Now is the time to push 16 GOP senators to commit to conviction in an impeachment “if” (meaning “when”) evidence is found of Mad King George’s criminal acts and treason.
Now. Or he’ll seize power in a coup d’etat and it will be too late.

Fascinating. Welcome to the old Soviet Union. To think that we spent years defending our democracy against the threat of being taken over by a dictatorship under which our mail would be read, our telephones tapped… Russia must be kicking itself now that it realizes what it ostensibly tried to accomplish - and which ended up bankrupting it - was treasure wasted. We obviously didn’t need their help.

“If this were a dictatorship, it’d be a heck of a lot easier… just as long as I’m the dictator.”
GWB
One of many disturbing glimpses into a paranoid and afflicted soul… our voice from the White House. When Bush and Cheney hailed President Ford’s Pardon of Nixon, it felt like they were trying hard to put a bug in our ear in case they’re held accountable for their Capitol Crimes. Because Ford told USA Today, “We needed to get the matter off my desk… so I could concentrate on the problems of 260 million Americans and not have to worry about the problems of one man.” Perhaps the World Court ought to decide Bush and Cheney’s accountability should Congress or the next president lack the will.
Because if this were a democracy, it’d be a heck of a lot easier… since We the People’s blood-won freedoms would actually matter.

Somebody told this dangerous ignorant man that laws pass and the constitution does not apply to him because of excutive privelge. These people [Cheney and Rumsfeld and Kissenger] told Nixon the same thing. The only difference is we no longer have accountibility as the rubber stamp Republican congress along with the hand picked Republican led Supreme Court refused to oversee and stop the the decider. We have King George instead of President Bush. This man should be impeached immediately for the crimes comitted against our nation and constitution. He also should be tried for war crimes that he Cheney and Rumsfeld comitted in Iraq. If the democratic Congress refused to hold this maniac and his minions accountable, then they are just as responsible for abuse of our constitution as he is.

This just goes to prove that when you give some people an inch, they take a mile. Being able to listen to our telephone conversations without a warrant wasn’t enough—now Bush wants to read our mail without a warrant as well? Just when and where is this going to stop—or rather, how much more privacy are the American people willing to give up before they start standing up to Bush and telling him that enough is enough? What’s Bush going to ask for next—the right to search someone’s home without a warrant? Audio and video recorders in people’s homes so that he can listen to every word we say and watch every move we make?

OK, so White House Press Secretary Tony Snow said there was nothing new in the signing statement.
Interpretation please ...
Does that mean business as usual? As in, opening mail has been going on since about the same time illegal wiretapping, eavesdropping, kidnapping, detention without charges, torture, etc, etc, etc .... started?
Or does that mean Bush has already granted himself that permission, just hasn’t used it yet?
Or, does that mean Snow hasn’t got a clue, but it sounds good?
(Visions of our prez eagerly opening our mail. Do you suppose he actually reads it?)
Waiting anxiously for the day we can hose out our White House. Boy that garbage piles up fast when you don’t pay attention!

The corporate terrorists in the White House are doing far more damage to this country than OBL could ever dream of. “Every picture tells a story - don’t it”. With apologies to Rod Stewart - the above picture says it all.

Who and where are the checks and balances? Does ANYONE in Washington D.C. have enough of a spine to get that ball rolling?

Another “shinning” example how basic human rights are curtailed in America & how little people of that country cares. The most SELFISH COUNTRY by all standards.
I mean, America has single handedly destroyed most of the environment, responsible for millions & millions of deaths all over the world & has destroyed cultures & conutries.
How could you you guys can sleep… the silence of criminal government & corporations must be deafening.
