UFO at O’Hare Experiences Heavy DelaysPosted on Jan 3, 2007At least a dozen United Airlines employees reported seeing a flying saucer hovering over Chicago’s O’Hare Airport on Nov. 7, and they’re upset that no one—from the FAA to their own company—is taking them seriously. One of the tower controllers summed up the generally disingenuous response to the sighting: “To fly 7 million light-years to O’Hare and then have to turn around and go home because your gate was occupied is simply unacceptable.”

Why does it always seem to be the US that get’s UFO sightings? and why do these “sightings” always occur when there are other more pressing issues that the US needs to be dealing with? More troupes to Iraq hey (Why?), losing a “war”, how about a nice UFO story to distract the peoples attention. Yes where are the photo’s? Awwh it’s just one of those things where nobody happened to have a camera ! How many photos and videos are there of 9/11? Think about it people. The worst terror to mankind is himself.

I taught school for 36 years in the district which happens to contain Detroit Metro Airport. Over the years I heard about many UFO reports quite close to the airport with many of these coming from my own students. I also investigated a number of cases that took place during a UFO flap in Feb. & March of 1978. I’ve found out that UFO’s are frequently seen around airports all over the world. The O’Hare event is not unusual.

According to this at least one of the pilots that reported the incident did take pictures (yet to be released).

I’ve got to say that the FAA’s ruling that it was a weather phenomenon is a bit “old hat”.

There is a parallel between the O’Hare UFO incident and the 1997 incident known as “The Phoenix Lights.” Both were sighted by airport personnel when these objects were spotted overhead.
The huge V-shaped object that slowly and silently cruised over metropolitan Phoenix ten years ago this March also flew near Phoenix’s Sky Harbor International Airport where air traffic controllers and aircraft crews saw it.

I’m a United Airlines employee and a friend who is retired suggested this solution to the flying saucer situation: You have to catch it on the ground and you have to have the black cable from a pair of battery jumper cables with you. You just sneak up and, making sure one end of the cable is touching the ground, connect the other end to the saucer and it will be grounded.

Ok I will give my comment.
I am a witness to a similar siteing. My happened in 1975, van Nyes Calf. I was on a cross-country trip from NY after graduating High school. I travel with 2 male friends, Marty and Mike. At the time of the siteing I was with only Marty. We were on our way to knocking on Marty’s aunt front door, when I 1sts saw his aunt at the front window very frighten, she was saying please leave us alone, I was shaking my head wondering what’s going on…and I turned around and saw a similar siting to the one that was reported at O’Hare this past week.
Report thisMy UFo did have lights, a line of red. then nothing then a lager spotlight type then nothing then the line of red lights. Made NO Sound, saw no metal. Just lights. It hoover a few moments (hard to say too much about time because it felt like a trance stance, very calm, within the light, I remember holding Marty’s hand. I felt no fear, a state of awe, stunned.) After the few moments of being aware of the close up siteing, the UFO took off in the most amazing way, it took 2 ½ loops to exit the orbit. (Like you writing the letter l
or e in script, a loop then it was gone. No Noise just gone. We tried to report it but no one cared also. I have not seen Marty in over 20 years, I hear he lives in Chicago Ill as a Orthodox Jewish professor. I wonder if he thinking about the siteing we shared in 1975

A few months back, I witnessed something at O’hare. I live about 10 miles East of the airport in a high rise on Lake Michigan. I have a clear view of O’hare from the 12th floor.
On this particular night, I watched as 2 or 3 bright lights hovered over O’hare for anywhere from 10-30 minutes. At first I thought they were helocopters, but they did not have typical charictoristics of a chopper. There were no blinking lights and they never moved once.
This was right around the time when they were banning liquids on flights. I thought homland security might be doing extra security with choppers, but this does not seem like a good idea with the crowded airspace at ohare. Can anyone explain what I could have seen? was this a UFO?

When there is no investigation, there can’t be a theory--only a convenient excuse. Is this the same FAA that totally dropped the ball on 9/11? What is it with lack of curiosity and the Bush administration?

I agree with Jane Quatam (comment #45346). It should definitely be investigated. It doesn’t have to be the a major inquiry and probably they’ll find out that there wasn’t anything to get excited about in the first place, but who knows? In any case, laughing eyewitness accounts out of existence just because they sound unlikely really is stupid.
“Officials at United professed no knowledge of the Nov. 7 event—which was reported to the airline by as many as a dozen of its own workers—when the Tribune started asking questions recently.”
Well, that’s just slack. As is the response by FAA spokeswoman Elizabeth Isham Cory.
“The FAA is not conducting a further investigation, Cory said. The theory is the sighting was caused by a “weather phenomenon,” she said.”
So “the theory is” it’s a weather phenomenon (presumably the witnesses have rarely experienced weather themselves). Or yet another rogue weather balloon. Or a group hallucination. Whatever.
Anything but an unidentified flying object. God forbid.
It’s funny… UFO means “hallucinated alien spacecraft” now. It’s totally pre-digested. And immediately either clung too as some kind of cosmic revelation or written off with dodgy explanations, lame theories, and jokes about little green men. So much for unidentified.
But the lack of interest by United and the FAA should be at least a little troubling. I mean, this “alleged sighting” is probably not the only thing they can’t really be bothered looking into.

What is not making the national press is that 30 minutes after the Ohare sighting, a similar object hovered over Illinois Route 59 in Aurora, Illinois. (25 miles SW of Ohare Airport)
I’m at a loss as to how there are so many camera’s pointed in all directions these days and yet very few of them validate these seemingly credible reports. You’d think that in this post-911 world, Ohare Airport would have 360 degrees camera coverage both at ground level and towards the skies.

They are scouting for a future alien-tourist development. The average temperature still needs to go up a few degrees before it’s really commercially viable, but that won’t take long.

Same question I had Mike. In this age where 9 out of 10 have a camera phone how come no pictures?

This story of about a dozen witnesses, including pilots, is somewhat unique. For each witness that came forward, there were probably five more who didn’t want to say anything.
Obviously, an experimental US military aircraft would not hover over O’Hare.
The overt nature of this incident reminds us of “The Phoenix Lights” incident when a huge boomerang-shaped craft slowly cruised over Phoenix early one evening a few years ago, and was witnessed by thousands.
It also brings to mind recent rumors and alleged disclosure of “Project SERPO,” a supposed top-secret exchange program between the US and an extraterrestrial civilization.

Why the satirical slant on what could be; and should be treated as; an important story? On September 11th 3 airplanes were hijacked and ran into buildings, or so my goverment and the media told me. We have spent billions of dollars to make air travel safe, now we have an unexplained phenomena occuring in controlled air space over one of the 3 busiest airports in the United States, and it’s all a joke.
This is at the least a demonstration of a lazy press and a incompetent government agency. Where is the outrage? This story is over a month old but it only came out because the government was doing nothing to try to investigate it.
Shouldn’t strange and possibly dangerous phenomenon occuring in controlled airspace be investigated? If it was a weather related event shouldn’t it be investigated to understand why doppler radar which is designed to pick up microburst and other high speed transient weather related occurences, failed to pick this up? What if it occured in the airspace of a flight? Would it be a joke if a planeful of people died?
This is a serious story, for everyone who flies or knows someone who does. Please give it a little more editorial weight and stop the silly ridicule.

Decades ago, two buddies and me saw a metallic object looming a couple hundred feet over the tree line. We stopped the car almost under it and to this day I remember what I said, “It’s tumbling.” It rapidly rotated diametrically about its axis while hovering. When it smoothly bolted off toward city center, we drove after it but lost it. The next morning the newspaper reported that many had witnessed it for miles around us. Years later in college, I had the privilege of meeting J. Allen Hynek, the skeptic turned believer of Project Blue Book fame. When several professionals risk their jobs even careers by reporting something they don’t understand, I listen.

It seems certain that Pat Robertson’s latest pronouncements were beamed to him from this alien craft. It explains two of our greatest mysteries: “How could one man be so stupid?” and “Why are the aliens here?” By enticing this charlatan dirtbag with apocalyptic visions (which he will duly pass on to his sheep), it can save the aliens the trouble of wiping us out since we will end up doing it ourselves. Those clever aliens.
