Hussein Death Penalty UpheldPosted on Dec 26, 2006It’s possible that even greater shame awaits the U.S. in 2007, apparently as early as next month. From the NYT: “An Iraqi appeals court today upheld a death sentence for Saddam Hussein in a decision that clears the way for his execution within 30 days, Iraqi officials said.”

No way. Saddam is like OBL, as poster boys for the “war on terror”, Bu$h Inc. and right-wing talk radio can’t do without them. Since the “WOT” is planned to be a very long running show, they cannot lose Saddam before the last HALIBURTON commercial airs. Not even Las Vegas would take a bet on this actually happening.

Report thisWhere do you get the 100,000 dead count for GW. I read over 2 months ago it was 750,000 and it’s probably another 100,000 since. I think he’s closing in really fast on a million. Our dead should be included in that count! I think I’m just realizing how he must get to sleep at night. He loves his death count!
Seems like I remember the Golf war starting after the GW’s father convinced Saddam he could invade a neighbor. Kinda like the character in Peanuts trying to kick the football and the little girl pulling it away at the last minute. Neither Saddam or the little boy, ever got wise to the plan.

I’m sorry. The whole Hussein trial is sickening. For most of my adult life I have been hearing about the deamon in Baghdad. Durring the Gulf War the propaganda coming through the tube was that he was the next Hitler, the Anti-Christ, blah, blah, blah. The truth is that Hussein was a threat to OPEC, and a major destabilizing force to the cartel and its customers - period. Yes, maybe he was responsible for using chemical weapons against his enemies the Kurds, putting down a Shia uprising following the Gulf War, gasing the Iranians, and ruling with an iron fist. Well, all this happened with the blessing and assistance of the United States government. That certainly does not make the atrocities any less vile, but in lieu of the current situation in Iraq, it seems to me that the iron fist approach is about one of the only thing we haven’t tried. Perhaps when trying to govern three ancient enemies sects under one roof, there is no alternative than ruling with a heavy hand. But make no mistake about it - to proclaim justice was done is farcical. He will hang for defying OPEC - the other reasons for all this madness are based in pettness & vengence - i.e. pissing off the Israelis by funding suicide bombers, and trying to assasinate of current president’s father as revenge for the unjust Gulf War oil war, and setting their product on fire. While it is impossible for us to know the true story at the moment of what is going on behind the scences, our president should be leery of his defiance of the Baker Boys’ report. That edict came for the House of Saud itself.

Why, I wonder, was Sadam never tried at the International Court of Justice, The Hague? Is it because the US has stopped to belive in human rights? Or because he might talk to much about the support the US used to give him with his crack-downs, WMD etc?

We never had a right to interfere in Iraq, or to arrest Hussein. He has been illigitmately charged and found guilty by a puppet court of nothing that we aren’t more guilty of and didn’t encourage and fund. His murder, deserved or not, is part of our crime.

If Saddam gets the gallows for killing 140 Kurds, what does George get for his complicity in the killings of over 100,000 Iraqis?

Mr. Clark might spend more of his time getting our despot impeached than worrying about the Iraqi one. How can the U.S. be said to “Allow”
Report thisit to happen? The Iraqi civil war is none of our business...Saddam is none of our business...Why are we there?...Why was Clark there?

Execute him?! Are they crazy?! They should put Saddam back back in power- send our soldiers home - and then let the U.S. media keep us informed, on a weekly basis, as to how things are going in Iraq. If the Iraquis continue killing each other - pity. If they don’t - well done. But who really gives a damn. 99% of the population are sick and tired of the minute-by minute reports from Baghdad. And they most certainly don’t want anymore U.S. caualties.

Saddam’s death will surely cause more trouble in Iraq. Hang him high or hang those who overthrown him ?
