Iraqi Bloggers Cope With the Violence

In this powerful collection of blogs from recent days, Iraqis react to the violence sweeping their nation. Here’s Meemo, a 19-year-old from Baghdad who’s getting out: “I leave Baghdad in two days…. I’m not going to see death anymore; I’m not going to hear car explosions again; I will come back to life again.”

Iraqi Rocker, or “Meemo” is a 19 year old man living in Baghdad.

Wednesday, December 13 2006: The Mehdi militia tried to take over our neighbourhood, but they couldn’t. I think they will try again later.

The other team that is trying to take over the neighbourhood is al-Qaeda.

They don’t attack in the same way as the Mehdi army; they are more bloody.

They use sidewalk bombs, they get inside people’s houses and kill everyone.

Both teams are killers, I don’t like either of them and I want them both to burn in hell.

Good Bye Blue Sky:

I leave Baghdad in two days. I’m going to Syria as a first step to the world.

I’m not going to see death anymore; I’m not going to hear car explosions again; I will come back to life again.

I’m not living dead anymore, I’ll be back to humanity in two days.

Goodbye Baghdad, I hope that you will recover soon and that peace will return.

I wish you peace, Baghdad, for the New Year.

God Bless these people.  I only hope that the terrorists and tyrants who plague their lands (which is NOT the U.S. soldiers trying to protect them) are finally crushed.

It’s a shame that Saddam’s regime held such a tight grip over these people (and used the country to train terrorists, see http://www.regimeofterror.com) for such a long time and when he is removed these people STILL don’t get to see peace.

I appreciate coming on this liberal blog and you guys educating me by the way.

The present in Iraq may well become our own future.  Our pathetic excuse of an administration has forever changed the fragile balance of the Middle East. Bu$h has belly flopped into the middle of the Iraqi pool and the ripples will effect us all.
