Playboy on Trial in IndonesiaPosted on Dec 7, 2006
The editor of the Indonesian version of Playboy magazine is on trial for indecency in the world’s most populous Muslim state. The magazine contains no nudity, but the prosecution cited the “inviting expressions” of the underwear-clad models as one of the reasons it is asking for the maximum penalty of 32 months.

Aren’t we the strangest creatures?
I’ve been to Indonesia and the Philippines and have experienced first hand societies where it is not uncommon to be threatened with DEATH sometimes on a daily basis. Almost anyone strong enough to carry one has a pistol or knife secreted somewhere on his/her body… and they’re willing to “blow you away” for whatever reasons strike their fancy.
I’ve visited bars where almost before you’re seated and drinks ordered, young “ladies of the evening” are SITTING IN YOUR LAP fully expecting you to immediately buy them a (watered) drink and whisk them off to a convenient room for an (expensive) quickie. Yet, it is in these very same environments where, if you show a PICTURE of UNDERWEAR or hint in print of human sexuality or nudity… THEY GO BERZERK!
Wacko!
