Whereas Tod Koppel and WashPo reporter Robin Wright both reject a military option with Tehran as unrealistic, an American Enterprise Institute fellow writes, “WE MUST bomb Iran.”

ThinkProgress:

Yesterday on Meet the Press, Nightline anchor Ted Koppel (who just returned from Iran) and Washington Post reporter Robin Wright both rejected the military option with Iran as unrealistic.

Koppel said, “I don’t think that’s an option,” and Wright stated that it “would be far more—to be effective, would be far more extensive than anyone envisions at this stage, at least in terms of the public debate about a military option. Much more complicated and costly.” Watch it:

Joshua Muravchik in the L.A. Times:

WE MUST bomb Iran.

It has been four years since that country’s secret nuclear program was brought to light, and the path of diplomacy and sanctions has led nowhere.

First, we agreed to our allies’ requests that we offer Tehran a string of concessions, which it spurned. Then, Britain, France and Germany wanted to impose a batch of extremely weak sanctions. For instance, Iranians known to be involved in nuclear activities would have been barred from foreign travel—except for humanitarian or religious reasons—and outside countries would have been required to refrain from aiding some, but not all, Iranian nuclear projects.

A RIGHT REVERSAL

There’s the Islamic thing
There’s the Imperialism thing
The key is dwarf those two
Put forward something huge and new

Gain the moral ground
Prove you are the highest
Start a global movement
To wipe out nuclear weapons

They’re useless anyway
They just deafen
Those who have them
So grow some ears today!

Anyone against the idea will look evil
Everyone will have to negotiate
Have us all come to the table
And an Age inaugurate

Joshua Muravchik shows his Straussian bent at every turn. It’s long overdue to start challenging these demagogues on every point. Their ideological elitism has romanced the Strange-Love operatives and their oligarch taskmasters right up to the brink of no return. Their ardent warmongering, deserves nothing less than that they be made to get a taste of it. But by all means, rein them in before they do another 9/11 and launch WWIII.
