Blair Backpedals Over Iraq ‘Disaster’ Remark

Tony Blair

After Tony Blair agreed with an interviewer that the violence in Iraq since invasion has been a “disaster,” his representatives on Downing Street insisted that the prime minister was simply being polite.

BBC:

Mr Blair was challenged by Sir David over the violence in Iraq, saying it had “so far been pretty much of a disaster”.

The prime minister replied: “It has, but you see what I say to people is why is it difficult in Iraq?

“It’s not difficult because of some accident in planning.

“It’s difficult because there’s a deliberate strategy - al-Qaeda with Sunni insurgents on one hand, Iranian-backed elements with Shia militias on the other - to create a situation in which the will of the majority for peace is displaced by the will of the minority for war.”

The interview comes as Chancellor Gordon Brown met UK troops on his first visit to Iraq, and promised an extra 100m ($188m) over three years to help rebuild the country’s economy.

Commenting on the al-Jazeera broadcast, Liberal Democrat leader Sir Menzies Campbell said: “At long last the enormity of the decision to take military action against Iraq is being accepted by the prime minister.

“It could hardly be otherwise, as the failure of strategy becomes so clear.”

Tony “Bush’s poodle” Blair had confirmed that he will leave Downing Street next year. This confirmation makes King George a little bit worry and angry because he’s unable to find out new replacement on time since his old “poodle” left him.

After a long period of finding there’s absolutely no sign ups because all those who have been contacted with the King’s intermediaries declined to be his new poodle because they don’t want to violate animal virtue and rights and of course they also don’t want animal value could be mislaid for ever.

Only one King’s poodle in the past will be enough !

Well said G. Anderson (comment 38699).  Lots of fuzzy-wuzzy talk from the Blair-Bush head pieces and a great deal of malevolent backroom planning for how best to continue the poisonous program for ruling the world.  These people are egomaniacs of the first order.

There must be very strong plans and the most gigantic effort to force accountability on the Bush Administration and to use absolutely every possible means to bring about impeachment—and this must be done in the next two years.  Bush can do immense additional harm during his lame duck period (and Blair too) unless their bullying is controlled and stopped.

It really doesn’t matter what you say Mr. Blair, no one believes it for a second.

Did the Sunni’s and the Iraq’s have billons of dollars to pour into Iraq? Did they have the American Military, the British Military, did they have any of the resources that the world occupying them had?

What did Al Caeda have that was better or more than we had? Did they have gunships and tanks, and depleated uranium? Did they have humvee’s and body armour, and billions spent on American contractors..?

It seems that now after all the waste that Iraq represents, that the only thing that matters are the lies.

The pretty lies you tell, and the rationalizations that Bush tries to pass.

Face the facts on the the table.

We lost, and we can’t buy a victory now at any price. I know that’s what your used to doing, manipulating things with cash to get your way.

And that may have once worked in Congress, but it isn’t working in the sands of Iraq.

And after all of that, it seems that the lies are all you have left.
