Israel and Gaza
news.bbc.co.uk

Because of regular rocket attacks on its territory, Israel has been conducting military incursions into Gaza, including an artillery shelling that killed 19 civilians.  In response to the attack, Palestinian militants fired even more rockets into Israel, killing a woman and prompting Defense Minister Amir Peretz to vow revenge.

BBC:

Israeli Defence Minister Amir Peretz has said Palestinian militants will pay a heavy price for a rocket attack which killed an Israeli woman.
Militants from the armed wing of the governing Hamas movement and Islamic Jihad said they had fired the rockets into the Israeli town of Sderot.

Israel has been carrying out raids in Gaza intended to stop such attacks.

In Geneva, the U.N. condemned Israel for an artillery strike in Gaza last week, which killed 19 Palestinian civilians.

In a special session, the U.N. Human Rights Council voted to send a fact-finding mission to the scene of the off-course strike, the town of Beit Hanoun.

An Israeli military investigation has blamed technical failures for the deaths.

It is really pointless to comment since in my experience trying to discuss the Arab-Israeli conflict with most of my progressive friends is like trying to discuss everything else with conservatives like Big Bill.

Pretty sick. comparing Jews to Nazis. Ipso facto Anti-semitism.  why don’t you check out how well Protocols of the Elders of Zion sells in Arab countries?  Typical Left Wing claptrap.

Of course Hamas started it.  Israel WITHDREW from Gaza.  Palis—all of them, both Fatah and hamas, want Israel “wiped off the map” along with their sponsor, Iran.

Who are the Nazis?

Let’s examine how you state the basic situation here:

“Because of regular rocket attacks on its territory, Israel has been conducting military incursions into Gaza, including an artillery shelling that killed 19 civilians.  In response to the attack, Palestinian militants fired even more rockets into Israel...”

Cute: the Palestinians do something, the Israelis respond, then the Palestinans respond to that. So the Palestinians started the whole thing for no reason.

Also: notice that Palestinian attacks are called “attacks”, while Israeli attacks are called “incursions.”

I’m so sick of this crap. It’s so ingrained in American discourse, you probably don’t even know you’re doing it.

Israel is a scummy racist neo Nazi State and they deserve their comeuppance.  The issue is not Arab v Jew, It is right v wrong.  More particularly it is Left v Right.

Fight Fascism.

Israeli’s say that Palestinians will pay a heavy price for rocket attack which resulted in the death of Israeli woman. But I ask what more can the Israelis’ take away from the Palestinians that they have not already taken.

Almost 400 Palestinian have been killed since an Israeli Solders was kidnapped in June of this year. It’s not even about whose land it belong to anymore. As the rest of world continues to stand idly by while innocent live are being taken away on a daily basis, one must ask themselves the question; is Israeli blood that much more valuable then Palestinian blood?

The Israel government, with the help of millions of dollars in loans from the U.S., has turned the West Bank into a virtual prison for the Palestinians living there. Confining them to the territory with a giant wall and checkpoints which suffocates travel, business, access to schools and farmland as well as access to the sea. In addition to cutting off any international aid after Hamas was elected in a democratically held election, daily raids often take innocent live. Israel continues the destruction of the territories infrastructure, demolishing homes and power stations. The situation is the West Bank has become intolerable. It is shameful that in a civilized society that such atrocities can be committed on a daily basis under the guise of self preservation. How can Palestinians stop firing rockets into Israel when they are reminded everyday that they are in a war?
