Israelis Hold Gay Pride Rally

Posted on Nov 10, 2006

From the BBC: “A controversial gay pride rally has taken place in Jerusalem despite calls from religious leaders to ban it.” Ultra-Orthodox Jews had opposed the event, saying homosexuality is an abomination in God’s eyes.

  • We still don’t get the Bible-derived anti-gay logic: God is powerful enough to create the universe, but then gets squeamish about the way in which two consenting adults choose to relate to one another?
  • BBC:

A controversial gay pride rally has taken place in Jerusalem despite calls from religious leaders to ban it.

About 4,000 gay men, lesbians and civil rights supporters gathered at the Hebrew University stadium.

Security was tight in the city with 3,000 Israeli police drafted in to stop clashes between the demonstrators and orthodox Jews.

Talking about gay jewish men.I was in a restaurant for lunch the other day with a NON gay jewish male friend ( I’m not gay either). Trying to be funny , he said to our very pretty waitress, ” don’t worry about either one of us trying to hit on you. We’re both gay. As a matter of fact, I just came out of the CUPBOARD.” She was very impressed with my sophisticated friend.
