With Mexico’s passing of gay couples legislation a hundred years of prejudice has just been wiped clean and for future Generations of Mexican will never know such prejudice again.
With the blessing of same sex unions and ignoring the medieval clamoring of the Catholic Church.
Mexico has shown itself to be progressive and sensitive to the rights of minorities under its influence.

It is rank hypocricy for any democracy to allow any person to vote on the civil rights of any other person within its community. Gay marriages are as historical as ancient Sparta, Etrusca, and Rome. They were ostracized only by floundering, struggling theocracies who needed more babies to fight wars in the name of peace.
The right of homosexuals to marry is fundamental to freedom--for without that right it is the same as slavery--which also was voted on by various decaying civilizations--from ancient Greece to that in the USA (that had to fight a war to recognize black people as free and equal). To deny this freedom, to choose, is equal to celebrating the end of logic, consciousness, and democracy, and installing a dictatorship of religions based on outdated, and fabricated texts.

One by one they come around to accepting that the earth, indeed, is NOT FLAT!
But why does “enlightenment” take such a glacial path? Why do we have to suffer from such ignorant prejudices so long before a critical mass of courage is found to change things?
Applause for ANY legislators evolved enough to acknowledge that ALL PEOPLE, except perhaps for out-and-out dangerous criminals, HAVE THE SAME HUMAN RIGHTS.
