Foley
dccc.org

Disgraced Congressman Mark Foley has indefinitely extended his stay in rehab.  Though his lawyer refused to specify how long he would remain in hiding, one can only assume Foley plans to wait out the election and minimalize further damage to his party and reputation.

AP via Time:

Foley checked into a 30-day treatment program at the Sierra Tucson center in Catalina, Ariz., near Tucson, on Oct. 1. There was no immediate indication how much longer Foley would remain there.

“I can’t say any information other than he’s still there,” attorney Gerald Richman told The Associated Press.

The Florida Republican resigned from Congress in September after he was confronted with the explicit computer messages he had sent to male teenage congressional pages.

His attorneys have since said that Foley is gay, suffers from alcohol addiction and was molested by a Catholic priest when he was a teenage altar boy.

They said Foley was seeking treatment for “alcoholism and other behavioral problems.”

The area in which I live is known as the Bible belt and my city is considered to be the buckle.
It is a running joke that when someone announces in a business transaction that they are a “good Christian”, that you better go ahead and get out the jar of Vaseline, because someone is going to get screwed.  Our country, and the world, has been screwed by our “born again Christian Bush” and his band of bandits.  My comments are not a put down of Christianity, as I am a number one fan of Jesus and His message of love and peace.  I am only saying it is wise to be very careful of those who run around making a big deal about their faith. You will know we are Christians by our love.  And that is our love of each other and not money and power.  And in closing, remember those wise words of warning, that they will come to you disguised in sheep’s clothing but inside they are ravenous wolves.  It is so!

He sounds like a good Republican to me. It’s ok to be Cretan as long are perceived as a solid individual to your constituents. Look at our present elected officials.  Just stand in front of the flag and kiss babies and say you support the troops that you are killing. At the same time wipe your ass on the constitution, jail and torture people without charges. Then cut your taxes, run up an increasable debt. Then tell American how great the economy is. As long as they hear it on Fox it must be true. Reality doesn’t matter in America anymore. Just look at the state of our country and world. He probably has better morals than king George. Maybe he will run for president after he gets out of rehab.

A student of Freud would recognize that anyone who shouts to the ceiling about how they’re not doing something - it probably means they’re doing it secretly!  This Administration and it’s supporters have shouted to the moon about homosexuality and security and fiscal responsibily - yet nearly every day now, some kind of gay sex scandal (hey, at least Bill and Monica were hetero ADULTS!!!) Or it’s another ‘leaked’ story letting us know the real state of our ‘un-security’.  Then again there are always reports of our impending financial doom everywhere you look (except on the list of Republican “talking points”) - It would be nice if the ‘laughingly called’  “liberal” press would actually dig into those stories the way they persued Bill Clinton, even before Monica. Remember “White Water”?  Where even after millions of dollars and many months of intense investigations by a special investigator - nothing illegal was found?  Yeah, that one.  Ya think anyone besides TruthDig, and a few blogs - certainly never CNN, NBC, CBS etc - will ever give the Foley/Hastert circus the true attention it deserved - not the salacious emails, but the real dirt on the years-long coverup.  Who knew what when? It’ll never happen under this administration anyway, and I’m becoming afraid that this may be our last administration before the naked Emperor and his handlers show
themselves and step out from behind the curtain (pardon the mixed metaphors!)If they are so against gay anything - why all of the gay scandals?  If they are truly for fiscal responsibility - why are we (except for a few elite administration profiteers) in such drastic national financial shape?  If they were truly following a plan for winning in Afghanistan and Iraq, much less a worldwide “War on Terror” - why do they act like they Keystone Cops on crack?
As for national security - well, these are the same people who let the Katrina disaster (on our home turf, for God’s sake) happen - how are we supposed to believe anything they say about any kind of security after the endless stream of scandal and debacle and seamy scummy smears.
If GW studied for his college classes the way he studied culture, history, politics of the country he wanted to attack - well, it’s no wonder his dad had to buy him a Gentleman’s “C”

Let me see. His lawyers admit that he’s gay, he’s a drunk and was sexual abused when he was young. Does Florida have a three strikes and you’re out law? If they do I reckon we’ll never see him again.

What’s a few more days in the closet? Maybe he’ll elope with Pastor Haggard, but only AFTER the election.
