Hezbollah in Talks With Israel

Hezbollah’s leader, Hassan Nasrallah, said he is in talks with Israel via a U.N. mediator to negotiate a prisoner swap.  The U.N. Security Council resolution that ended the monthlong conflict in Lebanon, during which more that 1,200 people died, called for the unconditional release of the soldiers whose capture ignited the war.

BBC:

Hezbollah’s capture of two Israeli soldiers in July, and killing of eight others, sparked 34 days of fighting.

A UN-brokered truce ended the conflict, in which more than 1,200 people died.

“They are serious negotiations… this issue is on track. We are moving ahead,” Sheikh Nasrallah told Hezbollah’s TV station.

“We have reached a stage of exchanging ideas, proposals or conditions.”

He refused to speculate on how long it could take to reach a deal, saying only it depended on “the nature of the negotiations”.

Israel has so far made no comment on the issue.

This was predicted by many. The Israeli/US assault on Lebanon failed. We can only hope they learned a lesson and won’t be too quick to assault Iran.

The damage done to Lebanon is a war crime. See a good synopsis “Lebanon Damage Report 2006”

So why didn’t the Jewish settler-state Israel negotiate last July when Hezbollah captured two
of its soldiers?  It couldn’t because it was under orders from its master, the USA, to go for an all out war, the better to draw Syria and Iran in, therebye setting them up for an American &/or Israeli onslaught. Which means there shouldn’t be any question now as to which is wagging which, the tail or the dog.

“People are hoping that with time, economic development will eliminate the Mafia.”

People are also hoping one day pigs will fly, speaking of which, nothing would clip the Mafia’s wings faster then the end of prohibition.
