War Clouds Gathering Over Iran?

The Nation is reporting that the Pentagon has moved up the deployment of a major “strike group” of ships, including an aircraft carrier, to head for the Persian Gulf, just off Iran’s western coast. This is not conclusive, but it follows all kinds of other ominous signs of an impending strike on Iran.

The Nation:

The Nation has learned that the Bush Administration and the Pentagon have moved up the deployment of a major “strike group” of ships, including the nuclear aircraft carrier Eisenhower as well as a cruiser, destroyer, frigate, submarine escort and supply ship, to head for the Persian Gulf, just off Iran’s western coast. This information follows a report in the current issue of Time magazine, both online and in print, that a group of ships capable of mining harbors has received orders to be ready to sail for the Persian Gulf by October 1.

Iran is only a threat when our government views it as one… because that makes us a threat to them, understandably. I feel helpless on this one. I don’t want another Hiroshima… this is crazy!!

By the way,we need more troops in Iraq and in Afghanistan and, if we bomb Iran, we’ll need even more troops to handle that situation.  And how do you get more troops?  By a draft, that’s right, a draft.  But no Republican will mention that dreaded “D” word until after the election, until after they see if they have a majority.  So if you help Republicans in any way, by not voting or by not persuading your friends and family to vote, by not contributing to the Democrats, you’ll be helping to promote a draft, among other things too stupid to mention.  So make sure the Democrats win this time around, and don’t jawbone about it or prevaricate or think about how inept or stupid they are, just vote for them.  Right now the Democrats are the only force that will balance off the Republican’s march to a totalitarian state; they may become corrupt but it’ll take some time for that to happen.

I have read that the USA has been making provocations against Iran and Venezuela. Perhaps they are hoping that Iran will attack a mine-laying ship or something like that.  I know we laid mines in Nicaragua-ian waters under Reagan.

Could this be the October Surprise that Rove has been insinuating?  Actually, at this point in our history, nothing would surprise me.  When will decency and intelligence regain the upper hand in this great country of ours?  Folks, if the U.S. attacks Iran the world my get the Armageddon that the Christian fanatics seem so eager to have.  Perhaps its not a bad idea…after the religious fanatics have killed each other off we really can have 1,000 years of peace!

I wont be surprised if this is prelude to Iran war. We are a war monger country and will any excuse to launch a war and then waive the flag and use the corporate media to sell the war to the public. This country has always used force to achieve its imperialistic economic objectives. Iran is not a threat, even if it possessed nuclear weapons.

Iran war?  Oh, oh, here goes what little’s left of our freedom and human rights.  Fortunately there’s still time to prevent this new war - Until the sixth of November, specifically, when we the people are scheduled to take back Congress; which then goes on to impeach George Bush, plus bringing the troops home now, plus the fact that it’ll be swords into plowshares time..

And what of our naval armada?  Never sets sail.
