Just saw John Stewart on Chavez and must say what I already knew. Liberals in this country are lowlife scum. I really would like to understand the liberal mentality and why they always attack people on the left and often give people on the right a pass? Stewart attacked Cindy Sheheen, Harry Belefonte and Danny Glover for associating with Chavez amongst other unmentioned crimes.
What does the nasty remark that this piece starts with mean? ....."Maybe it’s time for you vacationers to cancel those travel plans to Venezuela"… WHY? --- Do you really think much has changed in Venezuela in the last few years? Has the crime rate increased tremendously. Will the USA be attacking tomorrow?

One problem that Chavez has (not in my opinion) is that he thinks he is an entertainer. He likes to joke and sing and talk endlessly. His calling Mr. Bush as the Devil was just too funny for words. You have to see the clip. And the ovation that he got of course did every ones heart on the left a world of good.
That being said, it might be used against Venezuela. As for hating Bush, if you don’t ---then there is something wrong with you. I consider most all American administrations war criminals but by far Bush is the worst of the lot.

HI Denise
I think its all sad from every angle. Bush and his administration are attacking Chavez for being a free democracy which doesn’t agree with US policy.
I also think they are smearing Chavez so when they do something terrible to Chavez no one will stand up since they will have painted Chavez as the devil.
And thats the crux of it right there. Chavez may not realize it, but his attack on Bush is just a reflection of how the Bush administration has treated him. And Chavez is not as good at smear campaigns as Bush and RIVE are, so in this type of exchange Chavez will come out behind.
Chavez made a mistake and the mistake unknowingly is to play Bush’s game. If Chavez play by bushes rules, he will lose, his country will get invaded and South America will tumble back yet in political unstability.
If Chavez is to survive, if the democracy in his country is to thrive and South America is to remain free of United States interference it’s by living and standing up to their own rules, their own destiny.
The United States population must realize is Chavez is on our side, and he is standing up for freedom. He just also happens to be against this current administrations tactics of economic domination of his country. How can you fault him for that? Well the Bush administration does becuase he is standing up and being free.

Denise, please find William Blum on the I-net and read his list of American invasions, wars and suchlike for the last 50 or 60 years. Or you could read Gore Vidal´s PERPETUAL WAR FOR PERPETUAL PEACE. Do inform yourself a bit so the rest of us are not embarassed. I understand, as I lived in the fairy tale world of the US who tried to do good. Of course, the seriously evil results all over the world gave me pause because, as a good Baptist growing up, I was taught...BY THEIR FRUITS YE SHALL KNOW THEM...and it was perfectly obvious that the fruits of America´s efforts in other countries were somewhat less than the advertised product, and when the excuse of inadvertant results or just incompetence finally palled, it was time to accept different answers.

I do believe my views are introspective and insightful. What I’ve said is the results of conclusions I’ve just about been forced to accept after all I’ve read about these subjects. Like I’ve said , perspective is what we need --the BIG picture . Lets not be motivated by our hatred of Mr. Bush. (I say “hatred” because so many seem to feel that for him. ) Though I don’t really like him, I don’t hate him . No matter how much I dislike him , though, I won’t let that be my main inspiration for my opinions.

The idiot Democrats and most of the liberals are denouncing Chavez and praising Bush. Chavez produced a brilliant performance but I doubt that the entire show/speech will be broadcast in this retrograde country(the press is uniformly attacking Chavez. A beautiful demonstration of the “free” press we have in this fascist (liberal) country.
Please, Please organize for October 5 and make it a day to remember.
It separated the fascists from the progressives (also most of the so called Democrats are praising the pro-torture legislation. That shows yet again that fascism is entrenched in the USA, especially in the ruling circles).

None of this is about truth or falsehoods, it’s about speaking up.
Hugo Chavez is free and at least he speaks what he feels is right.
The bigger issue is too many Americans are afraid to speak up and actually question the lies fed to us.
I think its time for us to be free
http://www.personaltao.com/tao/freedom.htm
The current government has a track record of lies, and snipe hunts for WMD’s. Calling anyone who doesnt agree with policy a terrorist. Is that right for freedom. To lose freedom to have freedom… Its all a bit silly now.
Should America just be comfortable and go on snipe hunts, or should Americans stand up and be themselves first and foremost before forcing our views on others??
Perhaps we should pull back and out, we are not a police state and nor should we be in other countries trying to be one.
Perhaps Chavez is more about freedom than the United States Government, telling us it isn’t our job to be the police and thats why the US Government is afraid of him.
Is he right or wrong. Not the issue! As he is forcing people to look at things, and we don’t like the comparison since to call Bush a devil, is to call us a devil. We are not the devil, but our actions haven’t been so good either of late have they?

It’s shocking and depressing to see how many actually defend and admire Hugo Chavez. I knew there would be a certain part of the population who would feel that way, but from the looks of these comments maybe there are too many who approve of a fatheaded blow-hard like him. That’s a bad sign.
He says wer’e an “imperialist threat” ? There’s no such thing in the world at this time in history, though there has been that danger before in the past. Those who see us that way are victoms of thier own imagination. They call us “imperialists” , but that is the wrong word for the kind of leader we have become. “Imperial” is the rule of an empire; the name you’d give a majestic government. Why has America become such an outstanding country ? I know Bush-haters and America-bashers want to fight this idea , but it’s the truth : we became a sucess because the people were given clout--, they were allowed free enterprise . There were also other reasons, but we became the dynamic republic that we are , in part because we were NOT imperialistic ! I am proud of America. It’s seems like I may be part of an endangered species by now. What’s the matter with you “blame America” de-horn noisemakers ? Have’nt you any pride ? You have plenty to be proud of ! You ought to be ashamed for being so ungrateful . Try living in another country, then come home and you’ll want to cross yourselves just like Hugo, because you’ll be awash in appreciation of your own country then. Or maybe your attitude is a generation thing ?
Speaking of Hugo and his imperialistic talk ---what’s troubling him is that HE isn’t any such thing as imperialistic and he wants to be that so bad. All you need to do is understand human nature and you can figure out why most men who yell : “IMPERIALIST !!” act that way. At the bottom of almost every protester’s rants is the envy of a man who is dying to be powerful. Envy motivates him. You can figure that out, can’t you ?
Try to think about this for awhile : what is the worst thing , besides a natural disaster, that could happen to civilization ? It helps to check out history and see what devastated mankind in the past. The downfall of great or humble populations alike will not be caused by “Imperialistic” destruction alone, starvation, crime, poverty, any kind of democratic institution, including governmental, wealthy corporations , or any such “ sinful abominations “ that are so popular with the “nasty America” crowd.
The worst thing that could happen to mankind would take away the two most precious elements in it’s exsistance : freedom and human rights. Without those things man is captive , and deprived of the right to control his own life. Subject to all sort of inflicted misery. How can anyone deny this ? It’s freedom and rights that give us hope and helps us progress, and makes our lives worthwhile. Can you imagine what it would be like without those things ?
There are many countries that have known what it is like. Some still live that way. Talk about scum---thier “leaders” have caused thier lives to be that way. When you think of how “awful” our leader is, remember those societies whose leaders hold them with an iron fist.
So what is it, this most terrible and devastating thing that would kill humankind ? As I said , it would be something that would rob us of our rights. Leave us subjected to any kind of cruelty and injustice. Conquest by force and imposistion.
So what would it be ? It would be a radical, fanatic religious force that has gained great power. A religious movement of people who believe it is thier destiny to conquer and convert. A militant society , or just plain religiously brainwashed society of obsessive zealots who believe that the world is devided into “believers” and “unbelievers” , and God will bless them if they kill the unbelievers, and to die as a martyr for God is the surest way to paradise. People who WANT to die enough so they are not afraid of attacking the enemy ever.
How could we stand up to an enemy like this ? There are billions of them who “believe” enough so they are very glad to join this mission to conquer and kill. It’s happened before in the history of civilization. The Catholic church was once such a monster. That church was a frightful force, but at least it has grown and learned by now so it fits in with the modern world and it’s standards of humanity. Islam has not yet learned, however. They are still hundreds of years backward.
Sam Harris ( “The End of Faith “ ) knows all these things , and tries to explain what a destructive force religion has been down through the years. History has been drenched in the blood of killer religions that brought mankind down and stopped progress. If an awful religion gained great power today , what would happen ? Is there any reason to not believe it would bring excruciating misery to our lives , both bodily and mentaly ? I say we,--YOU,--have no idea what corrupt governing is yet---!
I am not of any one religion ; not even Christian, actually, but I can’t help but think of some words from the Christian bible :-
“The devil will come with the face of God “
“The face of God “ is, of course, a religion.

Nothing helps the popularity of a nation’s leader like being badmouthed by a foreign despot--and in a venue like the UN, yet! Sorry, Hugo. Whitney’s High Humor
Bush Rages: “I am not Beelzebub, Lord of Sulfur”
By Mike Whitney
“The devil is right at home…. The devil himself is right in the house. And the devil came here yesterday. Yesterday the devil came right here…And it still smells of sulfur today.” Hugo Chavez; address to the UN General Assembly 9-20-06
My oh my, has Hugo Chavez caused a furor. Looking at the news reports filed in the last 24 hours, one would think that he snuck a dirty-bomb into the United Nations rather than gave a speech. In fact, the plucky Chavez may have delivered the finest 30 minute presentation that august assembly has ever heard. In that short span of time he publicly throttled the Global Emperor in front of 6 billion people and left his bruised and bloodied carcass splattered across the canvas like Roberto Duran in Round 9 of the middleweight championship match…..
“No mas, no mas no mas”…
And what about the performance? Is Chavez part of a theatre troupe or is he just earning his chops as a method actor?
Whatever it is; it seems to be working. After skewering Bush as “the devil” and sniffing around for sulfur (the traditional sign of Lucifer) Chavez performed his ablutions with a sign of the cross and an angelic expression worthy of Botticelli.
If you’re a lefty, it just doesn’t get any better than this.
Chavez should give lessons in public speaking. His appearance was like a clap of thunder; waving Chomsky with one hand and pummeling Bush with the other. He managed to heap more muck on “Guantanamo Nation” than anyone since Harold Pinter gave his blistering Nobel Peace Prize acceptance speech on 12-7-05. That’s when Pinter said:
“The crimes of the United States have been systematic, constant, vicious, remorseless, but very few people have ever talked about them. You have to hand it to America. It has exercised quite a clinical manipulation of power worldwide while masquerading as a force for universal good. It is a brilliant, even witty, highly successful act of hypnosis.”
Chavez matched Pinter word for word, exposing the hypocrisy, lies and brutality of an administration that never stops lecturing about freedom and liberation even though it grinds out mountains of carnage everywhere it goes.
And where was Bush when Chavez delivered his broadside ….hiding behind Karen Hughes skirts, picking out a new eye-liner for his next televised harangue against Muslims, retrieving his Yale pom-poms from the dry-cleaners?
Our benighted leader always seems to disappear whenever the prospect of danger arises. He skedaddled when his number came up for the Alabama National Guard and he lit-out for the safety of a Nebraska cornfield when the planes hit the towers. He even vamoosed at a trade summit in Argentina when Chavez threatened “to sneak up behind him and give him a bear-hug.” That really put a spring in old Bush’s step as he quickly scuttled to the safety of Airforce One.
One thing is certain, whenever there’s peril, President “gone-to-soon” will be speeding off in a trail of vapor.
In any case, Bush was not missed at the UN massacre yesterday. Chavez held-forth like a preacher at a brothel; scattering the bodies and kicking open the windows to let the sunlight in. He delivered one, ferocious roundhouse punch after another….
Boom, boom, boom…until the crowd rose in a thunderous 5 minute ovation. (which was carefully omitted from the TV coverage)
“What would the people of the world tell (Bush) if they were given the floor?” Chavez asked. “What would they have to say? I have some inkling of what they would say, what the oppressed people think. They would say, ‘Yankee imperialist, go home.”
“He spoke to the people of Lebanon,” Chavez added. “Many of you have seen, he said, how your homes and communities were caught in the crossfire. How cynical can you get? What a capacity to lie shamefacedly. The bombs in Beirut were delivered with laser precision….This is imperialist (and) genocidal; the empire and Israel firing on the people of Palestine and Lebanon. That is what happened. And now we hear, ‘We’re suffering because we see homes destroyed.’”
Ouch; no wonder Bush “high-tailed it” out of the UN before the ensuing bloodbath.
Chavez is like a battering ram punching holes in the wall of silence which surrounds King George. Right after his speech I checked in at CNN and, as I expected, Bush-apologist Wolf Blitzer was spinning in his wingtips frantically trying to stitch together the tattered image of the Dear Leader. A quick peek at Google News confirms that the entire arsenal of corporate media is now engaged in the hopeless task of salvaging Bush’s wretched presidency.
But the damage is done. Chavez played the match on Bush’s home turf and beat him like a drum. Bush is probably still quivering under his desk.
“There are other ways of thinking,” Chavez opined. “There are young people who think differently and this has happened in a mere decade. It has been shown that ‘the end of history’ was a false assumption, and the same is true of Pax Americana and the establishment of a ‘capitalist neo-liberal world. The system has only generated more poverty. Who believes in it now?”
Yes, who believes it now? Who believes in a party which has only produced two ideas in its entire history; tax cuts and war? Who believes that endless bombardment and martial law can be passed off as democracy and liberation? Who believes that a rogue’s gallery of liars, war-profiteers and gangsters can work in the public’s interest?
“We want ideas to save our planet from the imperialist threat. And, hopefully in this very century, in not to long a time, we will see a new era, and for our children and grandchildren, a world of peace based on the fundamental principles of the United Nations, but a renewed United Nations.”
Yes, Hugo, we want peace with our neighbors, peace with our friends, and peace with our enemies. We’re sick of war and the men who want war; and that includes every feckless politico in Congress, Democrat and Republican alike.
“The hegemonistic pretensions of the American empire are placing at risk the very existence of the human species. We appeal to the people of the United States and of the world to halt this threat which is like a sword hanging over our heads.”
There’s no time to lose. We have to dump Bush NOW and get on with the pressing issues of global warming, peak oil, nuclear proliferation, poverty and AIDS.
Chavez is right; the present model for global rule is broken and corrupt. We need a change.
“Capitalism is savagery,” Chavez boomed.
Viva Chavez.

An open letter to Representative Rangle, in response to his lambasting of President Chavez’s comment’s on calling Bush a Devil:
See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eX1lBOxoJeU for the video in question.
Mr. Rangle,
If you really did take into account the feelings of Americans when you lashed out at President Chavez, you would have a very different story to tell / statement to make. Many of us find him a Devil, and worse. If you’ve got a bone to pick with Chavez, then say so, but please understand that doing so by defending the president of the US only further infuriates those of us that agree with Chavez’s policies of affordable energy, universal healthcare, and open schooling for all. These are good ideas, man.
That Bush has been called names, at the UN, and in your district is no different than you turning a blind eye to the onslaught of attacks against the Constitution and the Bill of Rights that have occurred during your watch. Where is your sense of decency? Gangs are killing one another in the streets, and Chavez arrives with viable answers to our problems (answers that not even yourself, or your new best friend Bush have offered) and people in Harlem might not be cold this winter, they might be able to afford time and money to educate their kids, instead of taking on a second job to pay for oil profiteering.
You’re right, Bush isn’t being insulted, it’s the entire Republican and Democratic system that’s been insulted with such charity. Your response is all you can do to waive off any legitimate feelings of guilt…calling foul when such a generous and powerful diplomatic laurel is handed forth is your only alternative…you’d rather shake hands with the devil…what’s going to happen when other people in your constituency begin to notice that you’ve been powerless to effect a change as wide-ranging as this, that of a former farmer from South America? Your voters will leave you. And I’ll do my best to assist with that process.
Bush and his team have done wonders to decentralize any functional component of governance, and have replaced it with marketed slogans, empty promises;
Clean Skies Initiatives that do away with environmental controls (see http://www.motherjones.com/news/feature/2003/09/ma_496 _01.html)
No Child Left Behind Acts that abandon the millions that need support most ( see http://www.democracynow.org/article.pl?sid=04/03/12/1534250).
These are the policies, the legacies of your time in office. Congratulations.
This is the man that you vehemently insulted yourself Mr. Rangle, (see http://www.nysun.com/article/20580). So please don’t tell us that you’re suddenly offended by what a foreign dignitary, especially one that is effecting change in your very community where you’ve been paralyzed with profiteering, that suddenly, you’re offended. That’s a load of crap. What short memories we must have, right? Wrong.
There’s a lesson to be learned here in Chavez’s arrival my friends. He’s not cutting and running, but instead, offering true charity and protections in place of our failed government’s attempts to feed us false shelter. Take note.
I’m eager to hear what you have to say, Mr. Rangle.
I write today as a concerned citizen of this world, and less a citizen of the US. Global warming, unmitigated imperialism, and chronic overpopulation are issues at the very core of our next generation’s ability to survive. Stop Uncle Tom’ing us, and wake the hell up. We need your rational, and capable self to stand up and accept the charity that’s been offered by Chavez, and further, we desperately need to privatize our own utilities in order to bring the economy back to the people, where it belongs. Please put your wallet and your grandstanding away, and think for all of us, perhaps for the first time in your life. The world is waiting, and it can’t wait much longer.

If my true views were known on the Bushites I would be banned. The Bushites represent evil! They are the enemies of mankind because their thinking is what makes this a horrible world to live in. They should be driven off the planet. We went to war against fascism officially in the 40’s but it has raised its ugly head again.
Chavez should be seen as a hero of mankind but still he is not without fault. He is too much promoting a cult of personality and we don’t need that. We don’t need leaders. We don’t need bosses of any type. People will live and let live in a world without would be bosses.

You are living proof that the Bush Spin is alive and well in a small segment of the population.
First off, have you ever noticed that those who brag, or tell you how smart they are or how “educated” they are, over and over again are the insecure ones? Keep that in mind. You are no more qualified to “teach” anyone about what is going on any more than snoop dog is qualified to be a drug free role model.
#1.) “Bringing Democracy to other nations is a gift.” You ignorant elitist slut. You sound like Santa clause handing out a new red train.
What makes the US the “decider” on how each country should be run? Prior to the USA being founded, the world got along just fine. Get off your high horse; it may be a Trojan horse?
2.) “Bush is doing a good job fighting terror”
Holy shit, if you think you can “win” the war on terror, then you must also believe we can “win” the drug war or wipe out crime in America. Bush’s war is “intended” to go on for ever, by design. Bush would have no clout if he was not a “War President” He and his cronies know there is no “end” If we could win (how ever you define winning) and leave Iraq, it will fall again. If we stay as occupiers, it will not only keep falling, but the war will last indefinitely.
Yes people hate America but it is not for our freedom you republican puke. There are many Democratic countries that hate us as well.
We are easy to hate. Just travel abroad and look at the Americans you see. Some are very good travelers but many are clueless and unfortunately paint Americans as loud mouth, baseball hat wearing, cowboys that complain that they only made $190,000 last year and only got one vacation because their Beamer needed a new front end and their oldest was starting college???
Bottom line, you are being sold just like the other 36% of America that think bush is protecting us, fighting the good fight on terrorism, working to make all Americans prosperous.....
Without his war, bush would be a one term president and working at Halliburton as a doorman.

US visitors to Venezuela will find the people to be very friendly and devoid of rancor. Just watch out for street crime and high prices.
Hugo’s Venezuela makes most of its money on sales of oil to the US and owns a very large oil firm here. Neither Venezuela nor the US have any real basis to change this. Hugo howls “diablo” merely to prompt threatening fulminations from the US Right, which he can use to tar his opponents as US lackeys. For the opposition to win, it must be home grown and have nothing to do with international intrigues. Local corruption, waste, cost of living, and faulty law enforcement will be the primary tests.

Chavez is called a monster by Ms. Ward (and I’m sure many other Americans today). And her rationale for that is that he is the most “anti-American figure on the face of the earth” and he “hates” America. I don’t live in America, but I don’t know of many people who actually hate America or Americans. What is universal to most people outside the States is their utter dislike; some would even say hatred of George W. Bush and his policies.
If Ms. Ward’s definition of “monster” means hating the policies and practices of the current US administration and being anti-Bush (and publicly expressing your discontentment with those policies) then we live in a world of monsters.

Let me make myself clear : I am neither a liberal or a conservative. I do not really like Bush, and I think he should’nt have gone into Iraq, but it’s good he declared war on Terror and went to Afghanistan. Terror really is a big threat in the world now. ( don’t care for the Catholic church really and the Pope turns me completely off , by the way- -in case you were some of those who were discussing the Pope issue . )
When it comes to forming an opinion on these things what we need is perspective, and not just some opinion born out of ignorance and emotion. I’ve taken an interest in these things for approximately 6 years now, and try to stay tuned in.
If there’s one thing that is sickening it’s that typical “hate Bush” and “blame America” attitude . You think you’re individualistic are rare ? Don’t get too proud, because the truth is your kind are as common as warm spit. You thrive on the idea that America, which is the most kind generous, and tolerant country in the world is a big bad swaggering imperialistic menace to the “poor little underdog countries” . Nasty America ! They hurt so many poor people who can’t defend themselves ! In truth, America saves and helps many more people than it ever hurts. America is the champion of democracy, which is just another word for freedom, something the decent civilized world should have. Muslim nations still govern by dictatorial leaders, and deny thier people human rights. (want to talk about human rights? I’ll be glad to ) Democracy is a wonderful and positive thing. If we can bring it to another country we give them a gift .
Now you’ll want to talk about all the killing and suffering that happens when a war is going on. Truely that is a hiddious shame , but then ,there is war throughout the rest of the world , here there, and everywhere. It is not exclusive to Bush.. and you can’t blame all that on Bush. Those other wars are much more dishonorable than the one is Iraq and Afghanistan. In those other countries they are fighty over territory, power and money. Bush is trying to at least bring something good to those nations. Democracy, And have you noticed ? The Iraqies are fighting between themselves so much they are detering any progress there. In both Iraq and Afghanistan they would be fighting amonst themselves anyway . If you think that’s not so , well ,--that just goes to show you how ignorant you are. How much time have YOU spent studying this stuff ? My business , by now only requires my help part time and I have a lot of time on my hands and to focus on all these things. I’ve taken part in many, many, many discussions on all this stuff. I am really discusted at the ignorance of the average citiczen. No wonder people were shocked when 9/11 happened ! They had no idea how much we were hated. I saw it coming, however, and was not surprised at all. There are people in this world who hate us and want to destroy us---our leader should not be prepared to defend our country ? Bleeding-heart liberals think we should turn the other cheek. It’s repulsive.

Wow! People sure get pushed out of shape when someone comes along and simply tells the truth. I suppose if Mr. Chavez said the sky was blue then he would be crucified for that too. The man is telling the truth. It is not an issue whether you like him or not. With the head lock that the Bush regime has put on our nation I suppose, at this point, only someone with clout, outside of the U.S. has the power to tell the truth.
Report thisIt’s odd, but it seems that our founding fathers would be routing for the Venezuelan President rather than our own.

Chavez’s statement is surely fitted to print. After all, whatever goodwill we had built in the past are flushed down to the drain by Bush. State differently, Bush made US of A the most dislike and distrust nation in the west.

The truth hurts so much when you are ignorant, bigot and racist, i.e., Americans who think they are hated when the truth about their current government misdeeds are slapped in their faces.
I am American by choice, something most of you bastards can’t claim because the wind was blowing the wrong way the day you were born and the stork dropped you here by accident.
Otherwise you might be picking rice, scrubbing toilettes, or already buried six feet under somewhere else where imperialistic foreign policies have seeded misery for so many for so long. And yet, Americans are the most loved and respected people on earth because of their sense of fairness and justice.
It is the garbage that has overthrown and prostituted our democratic process for the love of money and greed who are ridiculed and laughed at so deservedly. Ridicule and laughter are not forms of hate, just the same tool Reagan used to bring down the Soviet Union, mocking rather than hating Gorbachov.
Let’s join in the ridiculing and laughing to throw these rascals out of office and into the interrogation camps they have created in our names.

Thank you Hugo Chavez for calling a spade a spade! You certainly don’t beat around the bush when it comes to the most rotten and poisonous shrub in the the world today. Once the rotten shrub is clearly identified for the world, the world has to rise up to the task of uprooting that badly infected shrub before its disease spreads to the entire forest.
Thank you Chavez again for firing the first shot in this battle cry of liberation. I hope the world would wake up to the noble task of defeating this devil before its too late! Those who don’t rise up to the responsibility of defeating this devil must be his devilish supporters who should be uprooted likewise!

Mr. Ward, clearly you are unable to see the reality of what is happening around the world.
Report thisWe are a nation that is feared and hated because we have placed our selves into this mess. Mr. Chavez is only expressing what the rest world thinks about Mr. G. Bush. Can so many be so wrong ? You and Mr. G. Bush do have something in common. You both lack a reality into world affairs. And no, I’m not going any where because I served my country for the right to express my view points.

To Denise Ward:
I don’t think you are in a position to tell anyone to get out of this country since they did not need your god damn permission to get in in the first place. If you cannot digest free speech you should be the one who should get the hell out of this country.
What Chavez said is absolutely true. America today stands for only evil and misery. People who like this country should change the path this country has taken with the current admin.

I admire Hugo Chavez, and I love the USA, although our current government makes me sick.
Hugo is honest, he tells the people what he’s going to do, and then he does it. People laugh at his Sunday TV program where he talks with people, takes calls, showcases different people and programs going on in different parts of Venezuela, and informs his country of his plans. And then he goes and does them, just like he says! He was born poor and disadvantaged, and wants to do good things for his people and his country.
Criticism is fine, as long as you know what you’re talking about! For instance, free speech is alive and well in Venezuela!
And Hugo survived a coup attemp backed by the USA. He is just another popularly elected leader that doesn’t want to go along with the US’s domination, and thus our government has been trying to get rid of him, subversively, ever since.
This is why we are at war with (or secretly fighting) groups all over the world! They don’t want us in their countries, taking advantage of their natural resources and cheap labor for us gluttons here in the US. People all over are sick of it! I am sick of it! What has this country turned in to?

America Hater? Is that what you have to be to question the government and its motives? You love to put America in the “world leadership” position but any idiot knows you can’t be a leader where others don’t want to follow. The entire world is questioning our current foreign policy and seeing through the transparency that morons like you can’t seem to get past. We’re not fighting terrorists over there, dude. We’ve wrecked these people’s god damn country and for what? If the administration was so concerned about the safety and well being of America, any average joe could suggest at least 20 things we could have done with the $316 billion dollars (in counting) here at home.
If you’re truly concerned about America’s leadership role you should be more concerned with the attitude of the world toward our current adventures rather than going it cowboy style and shooting at the feet of all those who dissent.

TO # 24500 :
You know what ? Not only are you ignorant, your’e a traitor. If you knew anything about Chavez you’d understand what a monster he is. He’s the most anti-America figure on the face of the earth. His agressiness and hatred of the USA are way beyond reason. He is the big (literally)hugger and back-slapper of Iran .
You ought to be ashamed of yourself, for being so much on the wrong side of the fence. Sounds like both you and Chavez have got one thing in common for sure : you both hate America. You, and others like you, should pack your bags and get out of this country. Try Venezuela first. Go shake hands and congratulate him for putting down we “imperialists”. ( don’t worry Mr. Altruist, not too long from now America will cease to be a leader. Then you can think about who you would rather have hold that title of “inperialist”. ( how about a Muslim country ?? That should help us get some human rights) Sure.
