GOP Losing Dixie Chicks

Southern women are turning away from the Republican Party, due to the president’s handling of the war.  As one Southerner put it: “As a mother you worry, ‘Am I going to lose my baby boy?’ A mother’s view about war is often going to be a lot different than dad’s is.”

(h/t: AMERICAblog)

AP (via Yahoo):

Sandy Rubin, a high school teacher in Macon, voted for Bush and said she’s also likely to vote for Marshall. Rubin said the GOP’s focus on issues that appeal to social conservatives, such as gay marriage and abortion, have turned her off.

“I care about job security and education. The things I hear the Republicans emphasizing in their campaigns are not things that affect me or my family,” said the 39-year-old mother of two.

The movement of some Southern women away from the Republican Party tracks with national poll results showing that women have become more disillusioned with the war and were more likely than men to list the conflict as the important issue facing the country.

“Southern women are turning away from the Republican Party, due to the president’s handling of the war.”

This southern woman and solid fan of the Dixie Chicks has always been against the Iraq War. In Bush’s own words when questioned about what Iraq had to do with 9/11-"Nothing" yet thousands of deaths later, billions of dollars later we are still there. Three years after he declared the war to be over. I say start drafting all those Bush’s supporters who haven’t enlisted yet in this war they support and watch them suddenly oppose it and ask for withdrawal. I say to the Bush supporters who demand we support the President without question, how about you all leave the country as you are the ones trying to turn our country into the new Iraq or Iran or any country where no one is allowed to have an view opposite of the party/dictator that is in power.

A lot has been said about this already. But,
It is totatly absurd to disgrace our country, and commander in chief much less in a puplic forum...but overseas is a disgrace!

It looks like to me they are doing pretty well in the good ol’ usa.
What do they have to complain about???

A PROUD TEXAN!

Southern Mothers are worried that they may lose their own children?  What about those thousands and thousands of other Mothers’ children lost, maimed, killed because the Republican party has tied up any possible discussion and eviction concerning Iraq and Afghanistan.  It is heart breaking.  It is appalling that any Mother does not consider the anguish, and fear of Mothers worldwide.  No matter their religion, status, or nationality.  Bless their hearts anyway.  Those southern belles are at least coming round to reasonableness.  As John Denver once said, “war is bad for all living things..” (paraphrase).  Oh yes, I believe if the leaders of the nation want a war, they should return the draft.  Every person must participate in the military.  Just like the Swiss.

Better late than never. The GOP does not have anything to offer anyone except corporations and wealthy. It uses social issues towards that end.
