In Ads, Republicans Run Away from BushPosted on Sep 4, 2006
GOP’ers who once bragged in campaign materials about their close relationship with the president have started whitewashing their connections with the now-toxic Bush from their political ads and websites.

The country can’t be screwed that bad by the administration alone. Hitler and neocons have their supporters to make things happened.
Btw, one piece of financial info no media wanted to cover. That is, the once mighty dollar is devalued by more than 40% vis-a-vis Euro since Bush took office.

Paul, would you want to blockade and bomb North Korea too? You sound more like a member of the Third Reich than a freedom loving American.

George Bush, a Man of Letters. What a joke. I’ve always said, the man suffers from a delusional disorder. I almost feel sorry for him. The guy’s an idiot, plain and simple. However, all the death and distructtion he has wrought disqualifies him from any sympathy on my part. He and his cable must be brought before the World Court and be charged whith crimes against humanity. The soul’s of our dead and the soul’s of the innocent cry out for justice and accoutability.

Re: This Paul White dude…
Will someone please explain to me how an otherwise (presumably) intelligent individual can actually believe this nonsense? Ive thought for a long time that a deep faith in Christianity, with its ridiculous notions and carefully constructed nonsense, must prepare one to accept almost anything that comes out of the mouth of a Christian authority figure. But Im really blown away by what Im reading these days. If there were only a few Paul Whites around they would be an amusing diversion. How can there be enough of these people to take over a political party? I hope and believe that most republicans have a much firmer grasp on reality than what we read in Pauls posts. I think were beginning to see that in the article at issue with republicans turning their backs on W. Its really a crime that it has taken so long for so much of America to wake up. By the way, I have nothing at all against religion so long as it stays in a church where it belongs.

Is any liberal out there bothered by the lack of any real UN response to Iran’s defiance of the August 31st deadline imposed by the UN?
Iran’s leadership has stated numerous times that it wants to kill all Jews and eliminate the country of Israel. It has also declared the United States of America to be an enemy upon which it intends to inflict death and dsetruction. It has called other Islamist counties to follow suit in declaring the United States to be an enemy.
What is your response to this besides the typical “Bush is an idiot?”
Iran’s leadership is a true enemy of YOUR’s. I highly suggest, for your family’s sake, that you stop wasting your time bashing W (he’ll be gone in 2 years) and start concentrating on YOUR real enemies, who want to kill YOU!!
Iran was to comply by August 31 with the UN resolution that demanded Iran stop enriching uranium by that date—or face severe conse-quences from the UN on September 1. So what were the severe consequences by the UN on Sept. 1??
One suggestion below is that we have the UN appoint an international panel of lawyers and judges to conduct a truth and reconciliation process (congratulations to that responder—there was no Bush bashing). I can’t tell if the suggestion was from a sincere liberal or a sarcastic conservative. Regarding this suggestion, I fear that since Iran laughed at/totally ignored the UN deadline, it would not take seriously a “UN truth and reconciliation process.” In fact, wasn’t that the process used by the UN prior to issuing its final punishment—the August 31st deadline?? I think that terrorists wouldn’t be moved by attorneys and judges debating and engagingg in truth and reconciliation processes.
I say that we join Israel and try to convince the UN to seize Iran assets and blockade the country. Naturally the UN will need to study that for 10 years or so (as part of the reconciliation process), so I say we protect ourselves from future trouble by immediately joining Israel in its blockade. Our intent would be to pressure the Iranian leadership. Since we would not want to hurt the Iranian people (most of whom we undersatnd live in fear of the Iruian leadership and want to be free of it, but are afraid to say so publicly), we should move near-term (without announcing in advance to the NY Times, who will certainly published our military secrets) to undertake a highly targeted bombing campaign on the Irian leadership in Tehran. If it’s a surprise, the Iranian leadership will not have time to hide themselves among ordinary citizens, in mosques, etc.
What say you liberals? How would you handle this threat posed by Iran if you were in the White House?

As the old saying goes: “You can’t fool all the people all the time.” Even the “red state” folks are (finally) waking up to the fact that George W and his handlers are irretrievably out of touch with reality. They are the problem, not the solution. People like me who knew that Iraq was a big mistake back in 2002/2003, and who marched in protest against this illegal and immoral war, have been waiting for the “heartland” to catch up. The fear factor that Rove is trotting out (for the third time) is not going to fool even the right-wing, bible-thump’in Christians this time. Rick Santorum on MTP, normally a very polished speaker for the far right, blubbered his way through an explanation of Iraq before concluding that the problem is not Iraq at all, but Iran. Even a new boogie man is not going to save the neo-cons this time. Americans may be a little slow on the uptake, but they know a turd when the see one. The republican right wing will go down in flames in November. And W will not be far behind.

Paul:
“1. He lowered your tax rate. Period. You cant refute it.”
At what cost? Does debtor nation mean anything to you? Who got the greatest cut? What did the Federalists say about “estate taxes?”
“2. He got the most comprehensive education bill passed—No Child Left Behind Act. You cant refute it.” Too bad he didn’t even attemp to fund it!
“3. Lowest unemployment rate in 2 decades. An economic growth rate unsurpassed in 3 decades. You cant refute it.” What about wages? The 10,500 people sacked by Intel may not understand what that has to be with them.
“4. Weve had no attacks on us in the USA since 9/11. Period. You cant refute it.” You are right - however, neither you not I areable to know why!
“5. We are at war, whether or not you admit it. Most of you dont. We ARE fighting a global war on terror. Despite your anti-Bush obsession, Radical Islamists want to kill YOU and your children and family (and you hate Bush and America—even with this, they still want to kill you). Astoundingly, liberals (you) want America to lose this war in order to discredit Bush. These terrorists wanted to kill YOU when Clinton was president. Read Bin Laden. You cant refute it. ”
What proof do you offer that your dreaded “liberals” want to lose the war? Unless you are dumber that I think, you don’t believe that. There are some among us who do feel that we could be doing a better job in opposing the “radical Islamists.”
Your #6 seems to be all over the place - you ask what sould be done: Get rid of the “yes men” who don’t have the guts to tell the administration what needs to be done.
Instead of putting words in the mouths of your straw men, why not discuss real ideas. I find it offensive for you to constantly claim that those who oppose your viewa are opposing Christians.

6. So ask yourselves, Who is in the White House? It really is BUSH, BUSH….BUSH, BUSH!!! W is in the White House. You can’t refute it.
Remember a rule of thumb, if liberals are for it, it is NOT good for America. Being a liberal is standing on your head and telling the world it is upside down.
Go ahead whining, whimpering, agenda-laden,cry baby, insipid weenie liberals, start tearing me, Bush, Cheney, Condi, McCain, Rove, Rummie, Gullie, Lieberman, America, Christians, etc. down. That’s what you do best. No ideas of your own. Just pull the same old plays out of the ole liberal play book—rule 1: don’t do anything—you could be wrong—but just constantly criticize every single solitary thing that a conservative/republican does. Everything. Do not let one thing slip by your criticism.
At what point are you UN debaters going to realize that the other side isn’t Bush, it’s radical Islamists who really, truly want to kill YOU and your kids. New York happened. WTC 1 (Clinton) happened. USS COle (Clinton) happened. Madrid happened. London happened. Etc., etc.
The UN should blockade Iran now. What’s your idea about this besides Bush and I suck???

Mr. Bush has been suffering from an acute case of flatulence for perhaps his entire adult life - certainly the entire time he’s been the Decider. Apparently, up until recently a great number of his fellow Republicans have been suffering from acute cases of olfactory disease.
I mean, unlike their 46 million fellow Americans without health insurance, they have great health insurance!

Abuse of American tax revenue dollars by GWB
Abuse of American tax dollars, think of what this money 20 million $$$$$$$$$$$$ might buy?
Education for at risk children, low interest college loans, funds to give to poor for college costs. Invest in our children. Money for our schools is deperately needed!
I use to be a republican, but the abuse of both power and revenue dollars has totally turned me away from GWB. Many teachers now see where all the education dollars are flocking to Iraq. No Child Left Behind is a Myth.

U.S. military seeks bids for PR contract to track media reports on Iraq
Walter Pincus, Washington Post
Thursday, August 31, 2006
(08-31) 04:00 PDT Washington—U.S. military leaders in Baghdad have put out for bid a two-year, $20 million public-relations contract that calls for extensive monitoring of U.S. and Middle Eastern media in an effort to promote more positive coverage of news from Iraq.
The contract calls for assembling a database of selected news stories and assessing their tone as part of a program to provide public relations that would improve coverage of the military command’s performance, according to a statement of work attached to the proposal.
The request for bids comes when Bush administration officials are criticizing media coverage of the war in Iraq.
The proposal, which calls in part for extensive monitoring and analysis of Iraqi, Middle East and U.S. media, is designed to help coalition forces understand “the communications environment.” Its goal is to “develop communication strategies and tactics, identify opportunities, and execute events ... to effectively communicate Iraqi government and coalition’s goals, and build support among our strategic audiences in achieving these goals,” according to the statement of work that is publicly available through the Web site http://www.fbodaily.com.
A public relations practitioner who asked for anonymity because he may be involved in a bid on the contract said that military commanders “are overwhelmed by the media out there and are trying to understand how to get their information out. They want (news) to be received by audiences as it is transmitted (by them), but they don’t like how it turns out.”
The proposal calls for monitoring “Iraqi, pan-Arabic, international and U.S. national and regional markets media in both Arabic and English.” That includes broadcast and cable television outlets, the Pentagon channel, two wire services and three major U.S. newspapers.
Monitors are to select stories that deal with specific issues, such as security, reconstruction activities, high profile coalition force activities and events in which Iraqi security forces are in the lead. The monitors are to analyze stories to determine the “dissemination of key themes and messages” along with whether the tone is positive, neutral or negative. The media outlets would be monitored for how they present coalition or anti-Iraqi force operations.
