Angela Merkel
es.news.yahoo.com

Angela Merkel, Germanys chancellor and beloved podcaster, overtook Condoleezza Rice as the world’s most powerful woman, according to Forbes magazine.  The No. 3 spot was filled by ChinaҒs vice premier, Wu Yi, also known as the Iron Lady.Ӕ  How did someone known as the Iron LadyӔ lose out to Angela Merkel?

BBC News:

The index is based on visibility in the media as well as economic impact.

Mrs Merkel did not have any ranking in the Forbes top 100 index in 2005.

Likewise, her Chilean, Liberian and South Korean counterparts all appeared this year for the first time.

Chilean President Michelle Bachelet entered at number 17 while Liberian President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf took 51st position and South Korean Prime Minister Han Myung-sook made it onto the list at 68.

I could not believe it but it happened. Mr. G. Bush thought he was at his Texas ranch and the good old boy put his hands on Ms. Angela Merkel.
A thoughtless action that hurt our nation. The second Jacksonian era is here.

How does submitting to George Bush’s insults and going along with his insanely belligerent policies make her “powerful”?

If someone uses your head as a battering ram and breaks down a door with it, does that make you feel “powerful”?

I suppose Merkel would say to herself, “Wow, look at the awesome damage my master was able to inflict with my compliant head!

“I must certainly be very feared and respected!”

Contrary to her predecessor Shroeder who stood up to Bush’s war in iraq, Merkel follows out of favor Tony Blair as Bush’s lapdog, thus the crowning of most powerful woman. Angela Merkel alone does not carry much weight in the international arena.
