Mock Bush Assassination Prompts OutragePosted on Sep 1, 2006
A British TV network is set to air a mock documentary that portrays the imagined assassination of President Bush. While the White House has refused to comment on the program, one Republican spokesperson said: I find this shocking, I find it disturbing. I don’t know if there are many people in America who would want to watch something like that. But the head of More4, the network airing the program, had this to say in its defense: It’s a pointed political examination of what the War on Terror did to the American body politic…. It’s not sensationalist or simplistic but a very thought-provoking, powerful drama. I hope people will see that the intention behind it is good.” BBC News:

I would love to see the film. Prior to now, I have only seen this image play out in my dreams.
I also have to admit, my dream has not given me an inkling of what life would be like under the Cheney administration…whoa!

“I find it disturbing. I dont know if there are many people in America who would want to watch something like that.
Are you kidding? Ratings would be through the roof.
It’s a bit unrealistic though; “The 90-minute film shows Mr Bush being targeted by a sniper during an anti-war rally in Chicago in 2007.” because Bush never even gets within range of the sounds of protesters.

Heck, given Bush’s poll numbers, show this in America and it might outdraw American idol.
How about it Republicans and your “free-market of ideas” that we don’t hear so much about anymore? Show this and see who watches and who doesn’t (I’m sure the NSA could tell you exact details)! But hey, its more fun to censor it in advance with this phony bs of “don’t know who would watch it.”
If they do show it in the US and they try to really count who watches it, make sure to give the extra credit for those who tivo it and just watch that scene on an endless loop.

ARTIST GENERAL’S WARNING: Vice Precedent: VERMIN in Democracy’s Honeycomb…Fourth Estate, WHERE is thy STING!?
THIS IS A TEST OF THE DHDS (DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND DEMOCRACY SECURITY)
Of course public commentary on a subject like this is undergoing special scrutiny by NSA & kindred agencies. Setting aside the ‘bait’ (this doc, which we haven’t seen) DHDS hereby addresses those so engaged to ‘oversee & fish-where-indicated, the ‘comment-stream’...
...we are charged with monitoring YOU—we have in our ranks elite ‘ninja’ cybertalent not available to inc / government recruitment (by definition the most creatively accomplished are insufficiently tempted to choose “payrolled subjugation” of the very gifts that enable their own most cherished freedom & self-expression—i.e., you exceed us in ‘hard’ power; in “soft” power: No.
Already in fact some of the best & brightest among you resigned in protest of this PResident’s misuse of your agencies. Be advised in the Age of the Bloggernaut, etc: AS YOU ARE TAKING NAMES, SO IS POSTERITY.
STAY TUNED, AS WE ARE TO THREATS AGAINST AMERICAN DEMOCRACY.
THE LINES ARE DRAWN. THE POWERS THAT BE ARE NOW DEMONSTRABLY CORRUPT. YOU EITHER SERVE THEM, OR THE PEOPLE. “YOU’RE EITHER WITH US, OR AGAINST US”...
Again, be reminded—some of the BEST & BRIGHTEST have left you in protest, have resigned from NSA, CIA, etc…because they would not and could not continue with the truly ‘unamerican’ [unconstitutional] activities asked or demanded of them.
That you remain “on the job” that they left speaks for itself—and places you and your agencies on [TRUE American] Posterity’s “Watch List”...
eventually, you will be “outed”. We have the ‘principled firebrands’, the ‘gathering storm’ of Tom Paines and the “Einsteins” of Cyberspace—against which, ultimately, the ‘Bushelzebubba Toadia’ cannot, and will not, prevail.
But please “neocontinue” your coveted & treehouse-seductive boysclub “secrecy” (the Outing-clock is ticking on THAT—and while some of you may ‘escape’ individual accountability for your abuses of authority, many of you won’t, and your agencies most assuredly not—again, some are in fact ‘officially’ with US now who left your ranks in the name of America, and know the ropes & levers of your “power” )...
CYBERSPACE…it’s a many-splendored thing indeed for Democracy—when the ‘cutting edge’ is with your cause; when the best & brightest are on your side. You of course think you know; but you can’t, couldn’t, & don’t—by definition.
The Department of Homeland DEMOCRACY Security would like to remind NSA, etc: WE WILL CONTINUE TO WELCOME ‘DEFECTIONS’ FROM YOUR RANKS.
Those who have joined our ‘battle’ with the ‘Enemy Within’ are already reporting better & deeper sleep, etc. Why toss & turn? Join the Secret (and no, you don’t yet know who they are) “Einsteins” of Cyberspace—moving against the Fascist threats to America from deeper within that you dare imagine.

Is this an example of going over the top? Perhaps it is. But let’s all look at the current state of affairs in “our” United States of America and the world which is suffering as a direct result of the people weve allowed to ascend to power. Now that’s what I call over the top…
Its a pointed political examination of what the War on Terror did to the American body politic…. Its not sensationalist or simplistic but a very thought-provoking, powerful drama. I hope people will see that the intention behind it is good.
These are dire and desperate times. And in the current maelstrom of nationalism, corruption, lies and war I for one am willing to take this man at his word.
Is the thought of President Bush being assassinated any more horrific or morally reprehensible than that very man…George W. Bush…not thinking it worth the bother to keep track of how many Iraqi civilians his little military misadventure killed? I think not. How many human beings have died during his presidency as a direct result of his policies or lack thereof? In countries across the world as well as here at home he has killed hundreds of thousands as sure as if hed literally pulled the trigger himself.
Our support of Israels targeted killings is, by any definition, the support of assassination. Our use of Predator drones to target individuals in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere is what exactly? Are these military operations or assassinations? Oh thats right weve labeled this person or that person a terrorist, so its OK to assassinate them. Its OK to capture them and torture them. THEY are terrorists, not us. Our infallible INTELLIGENCE tells us they are terrorists so we must stop them by any means necessary. If actions speak louder than words then Im not so sure who the terrorists are anymore. You can try to justify horrific acts by wrapping them with the flag or the specter of September 11th but in the end they are still horrific acts.
In my humble opinion, all of you outraged people should take that outrage simmering under the surface and try applying it to a more appropriate individual. In the end he deserves far worse…

This movie is not an original concept. Only the object of assasination has changed.
It is a rip-off of 2002 indie film ‘Nothing So Strange’ by filmmaker Brian Flemming which was a faux documentary about the assasination of Bill Gates.

Those evil Brits continue to insinute evil ploting; as if it was not evil enoughh that they gave occupied Palestine to evil Zionists through their Balfour Declaration of 1917. Through their wishful thinking, they want now for Bush to be assassinated by An Arab Muslim in my now home-town Chicago. Imagine what would happen to Muslims if this takes place and I am one of them!
Report thisI don’t care about Bush whom I consider a criminal terrorist who used the state apparatus to terrorize a whole region of the world; nevertheless God forbid that a Muslim will have this man’s blood on his or her hand.
Actually, for justice to be served, this man should live as long as necessary to face a world trial against him as a war criminal. If he is assassinated or dies prematurely, then that chance will be eliminated. It’s okay, on the other hand if an earthquake or a meteor would strike the White House while he is sleeping in it; if this one happens, then people might wake up to the lesson of such a miracle, and the world might witness a period of world peace!

You have not read right wing forums and blogs. They are regularly endorsing assassinations and wars on their enemies. Right wingers are ultra violent school yard bullies and they love to beat up or rob the little guy. These people are not nice people, they love to kill anything weaker then themselves. They consider people like you wimps.

This is a movie being discussed here. To take the subject matter and abstract it into a discussion of reality is rather disassociative. The real assassination that devastated America occurred on November 22, 1963. Filmmakers have tremendous leeway in their choice of subject. Not having seen the film, I can’t comment on its value. Having seen the disastrous policies of George Bush, I can objectively stipulate that his cocooned view has caused and continues to cause critical harm to our constitutional republic.

Please, nothing to pander to loonies.
May Bush, Cheney, Rummy, and all the Administration have long lives, A-1 health, and firm minds, precisely so that they can witness the full aftermath of their actions. All changes in public office should be through freely contended elections. No one should condone or advocate anything else. In particular, I denounce neo-con Michael Rubin of AEI, who has endorse assassination of state leaders. See: http://www.aei.org/publications/filter.all,pubID.24774/pub_detail.asp
This would indeed provoke a horrible blow-back and make it difficult for our own officials to appear in public.

I’m sorry, it’s wrong to portray a fictional assasination of a sitting head of state. I don’t want the man in office, nor any of his buddies, but this is wrong. Frankly it does not do our cause any good either. It will distract voters from the real issues that we should be debating, not this fictional crap designed to spike ratings so the BBC can sell more Guiness. This is about as valuable to the national discourse as the latest Jon Benet episode.

Okay, how’s this for a conspiracy?
They ‘fake’ gwb’s assissination so Cheney can finish clamping down on the people. “Big Dick” ascends the “throne” and declares an all out war on freedom by declaring marshall law and we can’t do anything about it.
Scary, I know… please god, don’t let them kill him. Just let us vote in a person (and Congress) who will be for the people and not for the corporations and let us send gwb back to Crawford, Texas ... or prison!

Report thisNo it won’t. Elections matter very little. In most cases the incumbents will win like they always do and even if the Democrat should win that person will be right wing or they will be out on their ear in no time. The chances of improving civil liberties is slight. Most of the courts are right wing. Constitutional guarantees are weak and are ignored by the Bushites anyhow. The press is very right wing, especially on economic issues. In terms of foreign policy many Democrats are to the right of the Bushites. There will be a major struggle but it will not take place in the voting booth but in the streets. Go to the World Can’t Wait web site for sensible arguments.

I am certain many people would like to see the assassination of George Bush. Bush use to take great joy in the execution of prisoners in Texas. Bush is responsible for hundreds of thousands of murders.
He is the arch typical right winger and therefore takes joy in hurting people. I suspect many people would like to see his public slow painful death and the death of all right wingers.
Revenge can be sweet.

Let’s be clear. I don’t wish it. I don’t want it to happen. Murder, whether of a sinner or saint, unknown or celebrity, whether by a crazed individual or “authorized” troops, only serves to reinforce the depths of depravity and stupidity that lurk in the human heart.
But if it did, I would expect a completely different world-wide public reaction than that we witnessed after the assassination of JFK.
I can’t even deal with the prospect of a “President Cheney.”
