The vice president has reportedly tapped Weekly Standard reporter Stephen Hayes to write Cheney’s official biography. Hayes is the guy who Cheney used to peddle his myths about the connection between Iraq and 9/11. (h/t: HuffPo)

Surprise, surprise.

Think Progress:

Vice President Cheney — “the man running the country” — is now working on an official biography.

But don’t hold out any hope that the biography will offer any revealing insight into “Dick Cheney’s dark, secretive mind-set.” The author of the book, according to U.S. News, will be Weekly Standard’s Stephen Hayes:

We hear that the Weekly Standard’s Stephen Hayes is hot on the case and plans to publish a bio titled, naturally enough, Cheney as early as next spring. “I’m not a historian,” Hayes fesses up.

No, Hayes is not a historian. What are his qualifications? He’s a journalist who has cultivated close ties within the White House and has become the go-to source for insiders seeking to peddle false claims on Iraq. Here are some highlights of Hayes’ record:

Just what is it you want us to remember?

Your stellar record at Princeton.
Your flight from Vietnam with a record 5 deferments.
Your delusional neocon plans to conquer the planet.
Your no bid contracts with your old company.
Your never ending love of Iraq oil.
Your lack of respect for the congress the constitution and the country itself.

I’d rather have root canals done on all my teeth without freezing than read anything about Cheney’s past, present or hopefully irrelevant future.

I don’t know him but I’m almost certain that “to know him” would NOT be “to love him.” He virtually oozes “smarm” with every smirk. He gives me the creeps just looking at his picture.

BTW, to save me having to write again, should anything of this sort come up re Rumsfeld, just substitute his name in the above paragraphs and consider it my submission.
