Googl-iciousPosted on Aug 25, 2006Go to Google. Type in “failure.” Check the first result. Advertisement New and Improved CommentsWe are launching a major overhaul of our comments section. In addition to more robust spam filtering and moderation, new features include the ability to rate other comments, sort how they are displayed and respond directly via e-mail or in a thread. Unfortunately, commenters will lose their existing Truthdig identities. It's a pain, we know, but on the plus side you will now be able to log in with a plethora of options, including Google, Twitter, Facebook and Disqus accounts. Before launching this system we spent months in discussion with our top commenters. We listened to the feedback and we hope you like what we've come up with. This is an example of democracy in action; a mathmatical compiling of the number times the word failure is associated in media with the man, not unlike the sub-heading at McDonalds of however many sold. That many people can’t be wrong, right? Just think, if Mr. Bush, in his capacity of “leader” came out saying you shouldn’t eat those things cuz they’re bad for you, which would be him having a rare association with truth, he’d still Google up failure, because, well, you know… can’t argue with success.
Can you?

Even better to type “failure” and hit the “I’m feeling lucky” button. Much quicker result.

That’s an old one… I think that’s been the top Google result for that word since sometime in early 2004.
Look at #3 result… you’ll notice the conservatives have tried to make Michael Moore’s site knock Bush’s off, but haven’t gotten there yet. Yea, because a documentary filmmaker and the leader of the free world are comparable. More proof that conservatives find the culture war/personalities more relevant than the people who actually run our country.

This is waaaaay old… It was one of the first popular examples of “Google bombing” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_bomb) back in 2003.

heh—this has been known for quite a while. Also works with “miserable failure” (which will also link you to previous news articles on the subject).
