The Fertility Gap

Liberals will continue to lose ground in American politics as long as conservatives continue to outbreed them, argues a Syracus University professor in the Wall Street Journal. (The blue/red baby gap is much bigger than you’d imagine.)

Arthur C. Brooks in the Wall Street Journal:

... Some believe the gap reflects an authentic cultural difference between left and right in America today. As one liberal columnist in a major paper graphically put it,

“Maybe the scales are tipping to the neoconservative, homogenous right in our culture simply because they tend not to give much of a damn for the ramifications of wanton breeding and environmental destruction and pious sanctimony, whereas those on the left actually seem to give a whit for the health of the planet and the dire effects of overpopulation.”

Hey, we don’t have to outbreed them.  My step- and adopted kids are as liberal as I am.  Without any breeding at all on my part, I’ve helped to “reproduce” five little liberals.  Adopt, I say, adopt!

Just because the parents are conservative doesn’t mean the children will turn out to be the same.  My parents are Southern Baptists, I’m an atheist.  My dad votes Republican most of the time, I have never voted Republican.

Depressing? It’s a horrifying prospect.

It’s like slow motion suicide attack.

This depresses me.  The forces of rediculous religion still have millions convinced that to procreate willy nilly without regard to societal impact is a holy, righteous imperative to be rewarded in heaven.

God, save us from your “faithful”.  They know not what they do.

This is part of the reason why talk of abstinence-only education and condom availability suppression (in the third world!!!, not to mention the first) makes my blood boil.
