Iraq War Is Now Longer Than U.S. War Against Nazi Germany

America has been fighting the war in Iraq longer than it took to defeat Nazi Germany.  Some 1,244 days passed from Germany’s declaration of war on the United States to the Allies’ victory in Europe?six days fewer than the Iraq war so far.

It is very interesting that the writers above focus on the length of war in stead of results we have had in Iraq.

I would like to focus on the casualties in Iraq verse one of two battles in World War II.

Combat Deaths in Iraq: 2826 -  20,000 wounded.

World war II U.S. Dead and Wounded:
1.  D-Day 29,000 and 106,000 captured or missing!!!
2.  Battle of the bugle: 12/16/1944-1/25/1945 = 45 days.  19,276 dead 23,218 capture or wounded.

War on terror is going well in Iraq, let us not permit it to return here.

I’m confused. Am I supposed to be impressed that this time people in one uniform have been murdering people in another uniform for a longer time than at other times?

This war-after-murderous-war scenario is getting really tiresome. I sure wish I could live long enough to see humans make even a glimmer of progress in their ability to coexist using intelligence, understanding, compassion and cooperation. But I don’t expect to live another 500 years!

The Iraq war longer than WWII?  Didn’t W finish it with his heroic Mission Accomplished spectacle in May 2003?  If not, why not dress him in the jump suit again and ship him off to Baghdad?  Anyway, Vietnam was a longer conflict.  So was the “30 Years War.”  Or how about the “100 Years War”?  The Crusades lasted several centuries.  The Dark Ages were no picnic. Heaven knows how long tribes battled eachother in the Stone Age. Heck, maybe the show has barely started.

I wish people would stop calling this a war in Iraq. The war against the country of Iraq and Saddam Hussein has been over for a long time now. This is not a war, this is an occupation! I also wish people would stop calling the war on terror a war. Wars are fought between two countries. This is a fight against terrorism. By calling it a war it just gives the administration more manipulative power over it’s citizens.

“Attitude is Everything” has supplanted the precise “Character in All Things.” And one does not develop character invalidating reality and falling in love with one’s own tone and reflection. Rovian Shake-n-Blitz slash Bushian Anti-Realpolotik like the first platitude and WW2 Nazis werden fast be~endet.

The british fought a “war” on the IRA in Northern Ireland for 30+ years. Whats the point?
