Feingold: Lieberman ‘Doesn’t Get It’

Russ Feingold
From ABC News

Sen. Russ Feingold on ABC News’ “This Week.”

The hard-charging senator from Wisconsin swatted down Sen. Joe Lieberman’s claim that pulling out of Iraq would only embolden future would-be plane-bombing terrorists: “Joe is showing with that regrettable statement that he doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get it.”

ThinkProgress:

Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT) echoed Vice President Cheney last week by arguing that a timeline for Iraq redeployment (backed by 57 percent of Americans) “will be taken as a tremendous victory by the same people who wanted to blow up these planes in this plot hatched in England. It will strengthen them and they will strike again.”

This morning on ABC’s This Week, Sen. Russ Feingold (D-WI) responded to Lieberman’s remarks. “Joe is showing with that regrettable statement that he doesn’t get it. He doesn’t get it,” Feingold said. Watch it:

Of course Mr. Lieberman wants us there forever. Because he knows that we can’t win the war.

The war, is already over except for the dying.

But one question, Joe how would a military defeat look to our enemies?

Liberman just doesn’t get it.  Most people are seeing a pattern.  They are really seeing the problem of an administration the perverts the truth just enough to justify what is not justifiable.  People want to know the truth and they will rebel against those in our legislature who obstruct the truth or continue to repeat mantras tht have been proven not to hold water.

I think there will be some distaste for members of both sides who do not oppose the implied connection between Iraq and the terrorists who are responsible for 9/11/01.

The public wants most of our troops home.  They don’t care about continuing the occupation of Iraq and they believe that the fight there is primarily Israels problem.

Why won’t anyone mention the elephant in the middle of living room?  Mr. Lieberman is a Zionist.  That is exactly why he links terrorism to the undeclared war in Iraq.  He wants us there militarily forever.

Which position and statement, by the way, is not a problem in our country - freedom of religion.  As long as you are not a policy maker, at any level, working for the federal government; but, especially if you have the ultimate power to “authorize armed struggles” around the world and not declare war.

On the other hand, anti-Semitism is wrong under all circumstances.  Except when a person with federal government/political power trys to use that power to advance - establish - that religious agenda at the cost of my country.  I will not tolerate or allow that - ever.  Call me what you want!

That goes for the Muslim, Christian, or any other religion, too.

Furthermore, he is not an Independant.  He is a member of the American - Israeli or Israeli - American political party.  Depending on who’s tail is wagging the dog today.  He just does not have the courage to say so.

I am an Independant.  You know one of those guys who swore an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the U. S. Constitution - all of it; all the time; and for as long as God (what or whomever you perceive God to be) gives me breath.
