Bush Staffer on Terror Plots: ‘This Is Going to Play Big’

The White House
From cs.umn.edu

In the wake of the foiled terrorist plots to explode passenger jets in midair, a White House official told an AFP reporter on Thursday, “Weeks before September 11th, this is going to play big” as a political opportunity for the GOP. The AFP reporter was merciless in his report, noting that Bush & Co. have been tarring Democrats as soft on terrorism the past few days—knowing full well that news of the terror plot could break at any moment.

AFP:

US President George W. Bush seized on a foiled London airline bomb plot to hammer unnamed critics he accused of having all but forgotten the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

Weighed down by the unpopular war in Iraq, Bush and his aides have tried to shift the national political debate from that conflict to the broader and more popular global war on terrorism ahead of November 7 congressional elections.

The London conspiracy is “a stark reminder that this nation is at war with Islamic fascists who will use any means to destroy those of us who love freedom, to hurt our nation,” the president said on a day trip to Wisconsin.

Doesn’t it seem odd to anyone else that the plot was annouced one day after Lieberman lost the primary.  The talk on the news shows was about the anti-war movement gaining strength…until this story was released. Then there was almost nothing about it.  Watch for another 9-11 before the elections.

The GOP and President Bush reaction to the uncovering of a new terror plot, is to celebrate.
Time to take a vacation, go on holiday..

While Bush and Blair are celebrating, Americans are not, whats to celebrate? An economy with the “R-Word”, being mentioned by the press, gass nearing $4.00 a gallon in some places, and the USA trillons of dollars in debt, with a failed war in Iraq. Is that any time to take a vacation?

The truth is the Terrorist plot is the best thing to happen to the GOP in months, and they love it.
Because it’s the only thing they have got to take the people’s minds off reality.

The GOP loves terrorism, they’ve encouraged it in Iraq by pursuing an irrational military stategy.

It’s their belief that the GOP is better off when people are afraid, which of course is the same stategy that Osama Ben Laden uses. Is their a connnection?

This latest terrorist plot and official reaction was just a little too manicured to be fully believable. Alarm bells starting going off in my head as soon as the British spokesman started getting melodramatic, and within minutes the entire Right-wing network, as if on cue, was going into overdrive about Islamo-Fascists, traitorous Democrats, al-Qaida connections and WW III. Lost in all the frenzy is the definitely admitted fact that surveillance of the “Liquid Terrorists” has been going on for about a year. So why did authorities choose this point in time to make a move? Why not sooner? It’s as if they are now holding various “plots” like hidden aces in a card game, to be added to a hand at the appropriate time. How much, by the way, did they nurture and embellish this plot? They had a year to fiddle with things if they so desired. Did they have undercover agents, a sting-type setup, or provide financing or resources? It will be interesting to see what the accused and their lawyers say, unless they muzzle them, which would be a dead giveaway that something is deeply rotten.

Some (if not all) of the answer as to why now? is contained below in today’s Wayne Madsen Report (Wayne Madsen is an ex-NSA officer extremely well-connected to intelligence sources globally). I had glossed over the recent news items about phone taps against Prince Charles’ staff, but apparently they are at the heart of some of the innerworkings of the “plot within the plot” if Madsen is correct. This teaches me to pay attention to detail!

I think a lot more is going to come out about the “Liquid Plot” before it has run its course as more and more journalists and editors dig deeper and deeper. This is a good start.

From the Wayne Madsen Report:(http://www.waynemadsenreport.com/)
Aug. 11, 2006—According to knowledgeable sources in the UK and other countries, the Tony Blair government, under siege by a Labor Party revolt, cleverly cooked up a new “terror” scare to avert the public’s eyes away from Blair’s increasing political woes. British law enforcement; neo-con and intelligence operatives in the United States, Israel, and Britain; and Rupert Murdoch’s global media empire cooked up the terrorist plot, liberally borrowing from the failed 1995 “Oplan Bojinka” plot by Pakistan- and Philippines-based terrorist Ramzi Ahmad Yousef to crash 11 trans-Pacific airliners bound from Asia to the United States. In the latest plot, it is reported that liquid bombs were to be detonated on 10 trans-Atlantic planes outbound from Britain to the United States.

British and American authorities permitted a man with a liquid bomb to board a U.S.-bound flight in Heathrow on Aug. 6—the pilot foiled secret UK-US attempt to hype an incident en route to or at Boston Logan.

The London terror plan was “known” last Sunday by British and American authorities, according to the Indian press. American Airlines flight 109 from London Heathrow to Boston boarded a family of five, however, after the plane left Heathrow authorities determined that the father appeared on a British suspect list drawn up after the 7/7 London transit attacks. At first, the pilot was instructed to fly all the way to Boston where U.S. authorities could claim credit for apprehending the suspect. However, the pilot, fearing for the safety of his passengers and crew, refused and quickly returned to Heathrow without informing the passengers. Once on the ground, it was discovered that the male had in his carry-on baggage the type of combination liquid explosive and electronic device now being hyped by the British and American media.

British sources report that the reason for the delay in informing the airlines and traveling public about the liquid bomb on the American flight was to maximize the beneficial political impact for Blair and George W. Bush, both plummeting in the polls from the situations in Iraq and Lebanon.

Earlier this week, two employees of Murdoch’s London tabloid, News of the World, were charged with hacking into the voice and text cell phone messages of three members of the staff of Clarence House, the residence of Princes Charles, William, and Harry. One of those charged with the wiretapping was Clive Goodman, the Royals editor of the News of the World. The same paper earlier tried to politically damage two anti-Iraq war British politicians—Scottish Socialist Tommy Sheridan and Respect Party MP George Galloway. The paper charges that Sheridan was unfaithful to his wife by going to swinger’s clubs. He won a quarter million dollar lawsuit against the paper. Galloway was confronted by Mazher Mahmood, an individual who uses the moniker “Fake Sheik,” who tried unsuccessfully to get Galloway to accept cash and make anti-Semitic remarks. In fact, Mahmood was and continues to be a reporter for News of the World, his continued employment approved by Murdoch. Goodman has merely been suspended by Murdoch but he has not been fired.

Murdoch uncovered Prince Charles-Gordon Brown plot to oust Blair. Phony terror plan cooked up to derail political coup plans.

However, what prompted Murdoch and Blair to hype a new global “terror” threat was what Murdoch learned from eavesdropping on the phone calls of Prince Charles’ staff at the future king’s office, home, and limousine. The eavesdropping revealed that Charles was working with Chancellor of the Exchequer Gordon Brown, who is to the left of Blair, to conduct the same type of political maneuver that John Major used to oust Margaret Thatcher from office. London’s left-wing Mayor, Ken Livingston, was also in on the Charles-Brown plan and it was expected that in return for his support, Livingston would get a senior position in a Brown cabinet—a development that sent shock waves through the neo-con circles in London, Washington, and Jerusalem, including British Home Secretary John Reid and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff. The Charles-Brown plan was briefed by Blair to Bush during the former’s recent visit to Washington.

Blair told Bush that a Brown government would move to withdraw British troops from Iraq, break the “special relationship” with the Bush White House, and move closer to the European Union and the United Nations.

The Israeli attack on Lebanon created a rift within Blair’s Cabinet with some former Blair loyalists signaling their support for the political coup against Blair. As a result, a suspect passenger was permitted to board an American aircraft at Heathrow with a liquid bomb to lay the groundwork for the media and travel hysteria five days later.

The wiretapping of Charles’ messages also indicated that he has weighed in with various European royal families to discourage them from inviting Bush on state visits to their nations. This, reportedly upset the Bush and Blair regimes, who were working together to improve Bush’s image in Europe. The White House’s displeasure with the monarchies in Spain, Belgium, Sweden, Luxembourg, and Norway are a direct result of the Murdoch eavesdropping on Charles’ staff.

Not surprisingly, after Galloway tore into a Sky News reporter on a recent televised interview, The Sun, a Murdoch paper, is now reporting that one of the 24 British aircraft liquid bomber suspects now under arrest, Waheed Zaman, met with Galloway “many times.” The paper quotes the sister of the suspect. A Galloway spokesman denies that Galloway knows the suspect. What is suspect is the Murdoch media empire that makes up news and commits illegal acts to provide cover for the false flag operations being conducted by Britain, the U.S., and Israel.

Pakistan’s Inter Service Intelligence (ISI) agency has helped provide the cover story for the alleged liquid bombers. Working with British and U.S. intelligence, the ISI says it broke up the plot after arresting terrorist suspects in Lahore and Karachi. However, the ISI claims that the men were affiliated with the Kashmiri terrorist group Lashkar-e-Toiba, a group that is run and funded by the ISI itself.

There is not much time left for rational discussion about terrorist attacks, the Iraq occupation, or the decimation of Lebanon, and soon-to-be invaded Syria and Iran.  All of the Washington scum in the White House, on Capitol Hill, and increasingly in the Supreme Court must be removed, forcefully if necessary, before they destroy us all.  For 5 years I have sat back dumbfounded in disbelief, each time our govenment has initiated another one of its atrocities.  I’ve come to realize that the nightmare is not going to end until we do whatever is necessary to rid ourselves of these sick individuals, and get them behind bars where they all belong.

I can not believe Hondo has not barfed up a 10 page comment on this subject? Must be tied up figuing out new ways to polarize Americans.

Once again, george bush’s saving grace(war, terror) are knocking on the door.  I still find it very sad that our administrations best politival tool “is” the terrorists?  Every time this administraton finds itself in a bind(daily) Iraq, or terroism crops back up to give purpose and meaning to this administration.

Equally sad is that the freaking followers of bush are probably excited as it gives their president something to do and look like no nonsense leader(which everyone knows he is not)

If it was not for the never ending war on terror, george would go down in history as one term lame duck and would not even have gotten in a second term.

PS:  Note how george stopped calling this a “War on Terror” and now is caling it an “Islamo facist” battle.  The “war on terror” is getting old so it is time to morf into something better to scare the population.  This Crusade of georges has had a lot of names over the past years.  My guess is that Rove felt “islamo facist” has leggs and will help garner support where the “War on Terror” was fading.

So I was thinking about the wildest thing when I fiirst saw this news about the London conspiracy to attack the USA - from London.  Then I thought hmm… could this really be something in conjunction with the upcoming fall election??? Could this be a little more Rovism about the difference between the GOP and Democrats?  I then thought if they could pull this off??  Hmmm.  You know, I still think that Bush and his gang are responsible for the air display causing 911.  Just remember the hearings that followed the 911 - I mean, who are these people that ignored all the indications this would happen.  I still remember Condi stamering about not thinking this would really happen.  After that, my skepticism grew more than it already was.  But that skepticism really grew when this country reelected the same jokers that caused all of this.

Glad to see that I’m not the only one who believes this to be a little bit coincidental.  The word democracy only appears when Bush is refering to terrorism.  Way to go Karl.

Some meanderings:  Rove is a regular reader of Machiavelli;  Bush speak - Islamo-fascist, Limbaugh speak - Fema-Nazi (see a pattern here?); The 21 accused of the plot have been under surveillance by the Brits since DECEMBER; As of yesterday, none had bought an airline ticket to the US. Conclusion?  Inflammatory language plus timing plus a diversion from Bush created disasters at play around the globe and you’ve got potential political manna-from-heaven for Rethugs.  Rove’s not about to pass up an opportunity like this.

When the bushes are in power, the news becomes mad magazine’s ” spy vs. spy “; an infantile testosterone, lizard brained white supremacist greed satisfied fiction shoe-horned through satanic rape rituals on the general public. From their social memory roots as brutal slave owners to their manufacture of the first two World Wars ( the bombing airplane was invented, ergo somebody rich and infantile would use it/sell it to stay rich and infantile )to the assasination of RFK, JFK. MLK and two of the Beatles, and now 911 and all this ” Muslim ” baiting fiction-the bushes and their CIA black mass buddies have super-imposed themselves on the lives of every thing living on this earth as a counter-evolutionary threat. To arrest them and seize their assets would save the human race and remove untold cognitive dissonance from poisoning the human psychological profile.

Maybe this was what the lovely Condoleezza Rice was talking about the other day when she said that there is an opportunity in every crisis.

More crises…more opportunities, for somebody, anyway.

All this has the smell of “The Boy who Cried Wolf” around it, though. We have become so accustomed to being lied to and kept at a constant terror alert that if and when there is a real threat, we won’t believe anybody any more.

That just MIGHT be true, or at least some of it might be, but even IF it is, YOU DON’T LOCK DOWN AN ENTIRE NATION’S RIGHTS TO FREEDOM, LIBERTY and PRIVACY IN THE OFF CHANCE SOME DAMAGE MIGHT BE CAUSED TO SOME FEW, SOMEWHERE, SOMETIME.

Like the saying goes, if you “love something” (eg “freedom”) you LET IT GO… you don’t LOCK IT UP!

Flying commerical airlines became far too much of a hassle for me years ago… now, I wouldn’t fly if it was FREE! I can’t believe so many millions think it’s so essential to toodle around the globe. What’s the matter with HOME? (Oh yeah, Bush is at home.) And while I’m at it… WHAT’S THE RUSH?

It won’t be long before passengers will be STRIP SEARCHED and have to sit naked, shackled to their seats. These measures may be required in an attempt to ensure the safety of the flight but the enormous hassle just isn’t worth either the expense or the time savings as far as I’m concerned.

Perhaps bigger and bigger planes is the WRONG direction… how about smaller and smaller planes? How about sending individuals?... those who want to explode something can blow themselves up! Everybody… BUY A CESSNA 150!

Thanks for the rant time.

The odd thing about this story is that it didn’t break BEFORE August 8, to help them shore up Lieberman’s support.

Does Blair have as much control over when criminal investigation news is released in the UK as Mad King George has here?

But we KNEW they would come up with a series of things, it’s always worked before.

Now you can’t bring toothpaste and shampoo on planes, or even baby formula.  How stupid is that?  In the UK, you cannot carry ANYTHING on board but meds.

I know: Don’t let anybody have ANY luggage.  Do a body cavity search, then hand them an orange jumpsuit.  Handcuff them to their seat for the flight, and give their clothes back after having dogs sniff them.  That’s REALLY make airline travel pleasant!

SENSIBLE security measures, please!

The question we all should be asking is ” How it is that after our fighting them over there so we don’t have to fight them here” we still find ourselves in the position of being a target.  Thank you George for making our world so safe.  You may have have foiled this one but they only have to succeed once.  Oh,  by the way,  it is my understanding that the President was briefed about this terror plot on Sunday.  Why did it take until Thurday to raise the security alert?  Funny how we haven’t heard about the color coded threat levels since November 2004.  I think we will be seeing and hearing more about them as we approach November 2006.

This is hardly surprising. Bush & Co. have shown themselves to be incompetent at every turn. His ideology has fallen apart under the massive weight of reality and it’s proponents (i.e., the “reality based community”). All they can campaign on at this point is the familiar hate and fear.

No, Bush, no one in America has forgotten about the threat of terrorism. It’s just that everyone has realized that you’ve been utterly ineffective in dealing. If you don’t believe me, ask the 87% of foreign policy experts, both liberal and conservative, that agree with me.

Someone commented with a reference to Machiavelli on one of the posts on another thread, which I thought was quite good ... but I can’t find to share here where it is again appropriate. (Maybe someone or the author will post it again here.)

My addendum would be that we might update ourselves on the correlation between Machiavelli’s suggested strategy and tactics for assuming power and the Bush Administration’s ACTUAL strategy and tactics.

I would invite others to share their views in this regard as we are seeing evidence that the public is waking up to the Bush Administration’s deceptions (LIES!) and manipulations to attain and retain power—usurping the power of we the people.

I would suggest that those who need to brush up on Machiavielli start with wikipedia.com’s coverage of him and his ideas:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machiavelli

Then there is a site described at wikipedia.com as, “The official site for the works and summaries of Machiavelli”:

http://www.emachiavelli.com/

Which has a subsite, “An outline and summary of Machiavelli’s The Prince and a summary of all Machiavelli’s essential ideas click here:”

http://www.emachiavelli.com/Prince and Mach summary.htm

And then there is another site described by wikipedia.com as, “the entry from the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy”:

http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/machiavelli/

And, of course, there are numerous print media works at many different levels of current awareness and background knowledge. As we dig up references from our libraries we can pass them along.

Let’s learn how to deal with these threats to our nation (the Neocons - Rapturists - Zionists (NRZ) ) together.

And Machiavelli is not the only source for our education. It is just a line of study that struck me as a rich vein of information here and now, in this thread.

Active pursuits of truth and reason are core values of democracy.
