GOP bogeymen
From GOP.com

This is the final frame of an anti-Democratic propaganda video produced by the Republican National Committee. Pictured (from left): DNC Chairman Howard Dean, Daily Kos founder Markos Zuniga, Conn. Senate primary winner Ned Lamont, filmmaker Michael Moore, Dem. Rep. Jack Murtha.

RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman has released a video titled “From NDR to Ned Lamont: The Democratic Party’s Transformation From Strength to Weakness.” Its message is obvious. Its logic is ludicrous—i.e. that only blind adherence to Bush’s failed policies will make America safe.

Below are excerpts of the text that accompanies the video:

FROM FDR TO NED LAMONT: THE DEMOCRAT PARTY?S TRANSFORMATION FROM STRENGTH TO WEAKNESS

Yesterday?s Democrat Leaders Promoted the Doctrine Of Peace Through Strength:

  • JANUARY 1945: President Franklin D. Roosevelt: ?We have learned that we cannot live alone, at peace; that our well-being is dependent on the well-being of other nations, far away.? (President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Inaugural Address, Washington, D.C., 1/20/45)
  •

  • MARCH 1947: President Harry S Truman: ?[I]t must be the policy of the United States to support free peoples who are resisting attempted subjugation by armed minorities or by outside pressures.? (President Harry S Truman, Address To Joint Session Of Congress, Washington, D.C., 3/12/47)
  • AUGUST 2006: Sen. Joe Lieberman (D-CT): ?[I]f we leave [Iraq] tomorrow it?ll be a disaster for the Iraqis, for the Middle East and for us.? (ABC?s ?This Week,? 8/6/06)

  • Below is an e-mail that RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman sent out to the RNC mailing list (no hyperlink available):

    From: “Ken Mehlman, RNC Chairman”

Subject: Weak and Wrong: Today’s Defeat-ocrats

    Dear Friend,

In politics, there are turning points that can define a political party for
decades to come. Yesterday’s defeat of Senator Joe Lieberman in the
Democrat primary in Connecticut is such a moment. Because he stood for a
strong national defense and victory in Iraq, Joe Lieberman was successfully
    targeted for defeat.

For a political party to reject a respected Senator who just six years ago
was its candidate for Vice President is virtually without precedent. It
speaks volumes about the new Democrat Party: if you stand for a strong
defense and victory in the War on Terror, you have no place in the party
    and you must be purged.

    http://www.gop.com/WeakandWrong

Watch the video and get the facts about what this means about the decline
of the Democrat Party - from leadership that would “pay any price, bear any
burden” to defend freedom to leaders who want to cut and run from the War
on Terror, and surrender other tools needed to keep America safe.

    http://www.gop.com/WeakandWrong

The message from Connecticut is clear, and Ned Lamont isn’t alone. He is
joined by Rep. John Murtha, architect of the Democrats’ position on Iraq
and the man who wants to be the next House Majority Leader, who claims
America is more dangerous than Iran and North Korea and says, “We’ve become
the enemy.” And by Howard Dean, who calls the idea of victory in Iraq “just
plain wrong.” Watch how the new Democrat Party always chooses weakness over
    strength, blaming America first.

    http://www.gop.com/WeakandWrong

With 90 days to go before the election, National Democrat leaders have made
their choice in favor of defeatism, isolationism, and blaming America
    first. Where do you stand?

    Sincerely,

    Ken Mehlman
    Chairman, Republican National Committee

What COLLOAL arrogance! The GOP obviously believes that elections are NOW supposed to be decided the way they were in the old Soviet Union—the leaders decide who will be elected and that’s who is elected.

In the Let’s Pretend We’re a Democratic Nation, the GOP gets to decide who the opposition is, and determines who is best to be in the opposition.

But they haven’t closed their Stalinist circle just yet. There are still some democratic bastions left. To wit: In Connecticut, the Democratic party decided that ITS candidate for the Senate would not be the one hand-picked by the Republican/Stalinist leadership, who are now SO mad they are foaming at the mouth at their impotence at controlling and fixing this election too!

For Mehlman to issue this statement just confirms that today’s Republican party believes that the party in power (the Republicans) gets to decide who the Democratic Party candidates are, so they can have cover and pretend to be bi-partisan with DINOs like Joe Lieberman.  Meanwhile they are trying to drum up the tired old bone that the Democrats will make us unsafe.  Frankly, despite the attacks under Clinton’s administration, I felt FAR safer than I do today.  Back then, I was sure the government was on My Side.  Today I know they are NOT on My Side, but are pretending to be so they can enslave me, my family, you, your family, and EVERYONE but their fellow super-rich.

And Joe is the PERFECT pawn in their game.

The Republican party seems to be so unhinged that they are acting bizzare and crazy. You would think that a victory by one democrat over another democrat in a state primary would be inconsequential…but it seems they are scared as shit and their craziness is coming out. You have stupid people like Coulter race baiting just to find a issue for fall election. These people dont seem to care about the country..they are more than willing to tear everyone apart for the sake of electoral victory. The GOP has no other principle and its members have no moral basis or conscience.

The claim attributed to Murtha that America is more dangerous than I ran or North Korea has been debunked more then 3 weeks ago…this Mehlman guy makes me want to puke.
