Book: Sept. 11 Panel Doubted Officials

Long suspected and ultimately confirmed news from the AP.

AP:

The Sept. 11 commission was so frustrated with repeated misstatements by the Pentagon and FAA about their response to the 2001 terror attacks that it considered an investigation into possible deception, the panel’s chairmen say in a new book.

Republican Thomas Kean and Democrat Lee Hamilton also say in “Without Precedent” that their panel was too soft in questioning former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani—and that the 20-month investigation may have suffered for it.

The book, a behind-the-scenes look at the investigation, recounts obstacles the authors say were thrown up by the Bush administration, internal disputes over President Bush’s use of the attacks as a reason for invading Iraq, and the way the final report avoided questioning whether U.S. policy in the Middle East may have contributed to the attacks.

No one should wonder where all the conspiracy theories come from ... it’s the failure of the Commission, the Congress, and the press to follow up all the obvious threads of misinformation ... aka failure to do the people’s business.

I try to stay away from conspiracy theories because they just weird people out ... I don’t know what happened on 9/11 ... maybe it was no more than the abysmal incompetence of the Pentagon to do anything other than build weapon systems at huge profits for our corporations ... which has been a repetitious theme for far too long ... couple that with some black-flag hanky-panky and we have another movie in a couple of years ...

I keep being reminded of Jack Nicholson’s character (Colonel Jessup?) in A FEW GOOD MEN: “You can’t handle the truth.”

And how do you expect from Rodulph Giuliani and the Bush administration to cooperate in an ivenstigation that would eventually reveal that the 9/11 was an insider job they planned and executed?!
