These guys seem to have taken this concept a bit further with alibi, image dialers (their version of the popularity dialer), reminders and wake up calls. They allow you to spoof the caller ID that calls you so that you can facilitate an alibi call. http://www.mobilealibi.com

An alternative: Go to Stupid.com and buy a “get off the phone excuse machine” for $9.99. Press a button and the person you are talking to will hear the sound of your choice—a ringing doorbell, a crying baby, a siren, a loud crash, static, or a man with an Asian accent yelling, “Chinese food delivery!”

What ever happened to having an honest and polite conversation between people. What is it about duping and manipulation that people seem to think is the way to be in the world. Sorry, Jenny, popularity dialer seems like a bad idea. I think it makes a fool out of the person who chooses to use it and says a lot about their character or lack thereof. I am surprised this was even on Truthdig!
