Utility companies in 36 states offer energy from renewable sources to their customers for an added fee. I note that, in Western Massachusetts (the part furthest from Boston), electricity dereulation has, at least for residential customers, reulted in a choice of exactly one other electricity supplier (Dominion, which is essentially a nuclear power company), as well as an approximately 40% increase in the cost of electricity.
