56% Want Deadline for Leaving IraqPosted on Jul 27, 2006According to a new New York Times/CBS poll, 56% of Americans support a timetable for the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq. Of that group, more than half support a withdrawal even if it leads to insurgent control of the country. The poll also found that a majority of Americans believe Israel will never have peace with its neighbors and that the United States should stay out of the conflict in Lebanon. Bush’s overall approval rating rose slightly to 36%. Democrats pulled in better numbers than Republicans, with an overall favorable view of 52%, compared with the latter’s 43%.
