U.S. Will Rush Bombs to Israel

Email this item Email    Print this item Print

The United States has agreed to a request from Israel to expedite a shipment of precision munitions.  As fighting continues in Lebanon and Israel readies ground forces, the United States’ willingness to comply with such a request could further inflame the region.

From the N.Y. Times:

The decision to quickly ship the weapons to Israel was made with relatively little debate within the Bush administration, the officials said. Its disclosure threatens to anger Arab governments and others because of the appearance that the United States is actively aiding the Israeli bombing campaign in a way that could be compared to Iran’s efforts to arm and resupply Hezbollah.

“Mr. Bush needs to step in as a peacemaker.”

What an oxymoron that is!

I completely agree with bloggers Earl, Vito, and Jackie on the issues.
I find it astonishing that we Americans are not asking why we are sending bombs to support Israel’s attacks against Lebanon.  While,in the same breath our White House is now sending a call for nations everywhere to send emergency aid monies to Lebanon.  We provide the bombs and then the aid for the damage done by those weapons?  Yes, the manufacturers are getting paid for those bombs.  And we are paying for the manufacturing with borrowed money from China.  Folks, our country’s leaders have run amock.  They do not have a clue what they are doing.  If they do, then they should be jailed for conspiracy crimes, and for wilfully bankrupting this nation.  We are a ruined nation if we do not get this administration removed from their offices, pronto.  We cannot maintain safety for our own country at this stage.
The Jewish lobbiests are demonstrating quite clearly the clout they have in this country.  There is no plausible reason for us to support such offensive attacks against Lebanon.  The middle east is about to blow, and our leaders are involved.  Peace and justice.  Bread and water.  Medicines to help the ill.  America, wake up and return to the values of our parents.

Israel has more than 350 armed and ready to deliver nuclear weapons, untold numbers of depleted uranium-shielded 120mm main gun M1A1 and M1A2 tanks, untold numbers of Apache Attack helicopters, and now Pentagon and military officials declined to describe in detail the size and contents of the new Bush-expedited arms shipment to Israel. It probably includes 100 GBU-28’s, which are 5,000-pound laser-guided bombs intended to destroy concrete bunkers. The package also provides for selling satellite-guided munitions.  The GBU-28 is “a special weapon that was developed for penetrating hardened command centers located deep underground.” The document added, “The Israeli Air Force will use these GBU-28’s on their F-15 aircraft.”

What does Hezbollah have?  30-mile range “rockets” with 10-pound “warheads” that cannot be aimed accurately.  Hezbollah’s Secretary General, Sheik Sayed Hassan Nasrallah, was foolish to launch his “Operation Truthful Promise” and capture an Israeli soldier as he had promised Ariel Sharon (when he reneged on releasing Samir Kuntar as part of the 150-prisoner exchange of 2000.  Israel’s response, however, is out of all proportion.  Mr. Olmert said, “They are going to regret this decision. Punishment will come this time.” That is the very core of the problem of disproportionate military response.  However foolish it is for one to step on the toe of the playground bully who’s muscles are more powerful than his mind, the rest of the kids and all of the supervisors are obliged to step in and prevent the utter annihilation of the provocateur.

Mr. Bush needs to step in as a peacemaker.

A couple simple questions for the Libs out there:

1) If your *words* of support for Israel are real, then what *actions* to defend itself do you support for Israel?

2) Will you hold Jordan equally responsible for the Palestinian matter?  (Research “trans-Jordan” if you need help with this one.)

As Jackie pointed out, the term “anti-semetic” is used to silence anyone who dares to point out that Israel is guilty of much suffering being inflicted on the Palestinians, and now the people of Lebanon.

People, do not be afraid to speak the truth. So what if you are labeled anti-whatever? who cares! stifle your fear for the sake of the dead children and the ones who have lost their families, limbs, and homes.

If you are called anti-semetic, then point out that there are hundreds of Israeli soldiers who agree with you -some to the point of being imprisoned- and that there are hundreds of thousands of Jews who agree with you. Then ask the person, “Are those Jews and Israelis also ‘anti-semetic’?”

And by the way, the term is an oxymoron. The Arabs are also a semetic people.

Seems kind’ve lopsided to me. We helped rebuild Lebanon and our ally is destroying it and were not stopping them. Were at war with the ideoligy of terrorism and the use of violence to get points across. Were not at war with the Lebonese people.

When the Palestinian’s in Gaza elected Hamas to their government they told the world “Yeah, we’ll take your money to help build our infrastructure but we still want to kill you”. Their support went away and the Palestinians got sour. Because the world was holding the Palestinians accountable politically to get smarter and act like civilized people and negotiate instead of kill. What the world needs to do is do what happened to North Korea and Cuba and shut them off Iran and Syria from the world.

I disliked George Bush before all this started in Israel but now I’m starting to think twice.

I want to know exactly WHO is profiting from the manufacture of these “precision munitions.”

Who in the USA has a vested interest in keeping the pot boiling?

And, most importantly, what are the connections all the way up the line from the manufacturer to anyone in government, including the president.

Of course I won’t get an answer. The scumbags making the big bucks in armaments are well protected from prying eyes. This info will be TOP SECRET in the interest of NATIONAL SECURITY, of course.

This is almost as big a racket as BIG BANKING! And there’s absolutely NOTHING the “little people” can do about it.

And they wonder why I’m just an old, jaded pessimist.

Anybody notice that 900 Hezbollah rockets killed only 34 Israelis?  They go 30 miles and carry a maximum warhead of 10 pounds.  Mr. Bush sends laser-guided smart bombs that are 1,000 pounders.

It’s the same old story:  kids throwing rocks at an Abrams 1A1 Battle Tank while it shoots 120 mm rockets with a range of 60 miles from a depleted uranium hardened shield.

Score 372 dead Lebanon civilians
34 dead Israelis

If you read “I was duped by Israel” by congress man Tom Hayden in counterpunch.com and follw the late news.  There is only logical conclussion.  The jewish lobby is the best one out there.  Also the late question about the lobby, namely “who is the dog and who is the tail” is settled as well.  We are the darn tail.

Amazing.  Truely amazing.

Israel is attacked from across a wall it built for protection from Palestinian militants and they’re murderers for shooting back.

Israel is attacked from Lebanon by missile fire, fights back, and again they’re murderers.

Question the policies of Israel is one thing, but asking them to just sit there and commit suicide is quite another.  That’s what makes many comments *and artickes* to be nothing less than a patent hatred of the (Jewish) nation Israel.

If you’ve got another plan, lay it on the table.
Evaluate your own positions:  The Left regularly calls Bush a Nazi but at the same time supports the death of Israel, far more consistent with the policies of A.H.

So, too, did nazi Germany rush to the aid of its partner, fascist Italy, during WW II.  Is history repeating itself?  If so, which way this time - tragedy, farce or both?

I had read that article first thing early this morning, and was spontaneously ill. What I fail to understand is why the U.S. is forever supporting Israel regardless, it seems, of the issue.

Why? Has this to do with special interest groups? Backroom Bush supporters? I’m trying to understand. Help...!

What the hell is our ‘Government’ doing?
We have Rice telling everyone ‘This government is not going to do a damm thing about the people of Lebanon being bombed into oblivion. In fact, This government will give Israel as much time as they chose to complete the job.’
Not only is THIS government giving the Israeli government and military the time they want, they are already shipping the next load of laser guided missiles to make sure Israel can kill and destroy more people/infarstucture.
They are also already lining up very nice contracts with Halliburton etc, to rebuild Lebenon after the Israelis decide they’re done..

We may believe that in some way, none of this will really touch the ‘american people’, but we are the ones allowing this to be done and all the world and the Middle East can see, is once again, America stands up/bows down, for Israel.

The government uses our tax money for Israel’s bombs and their Veto power to hold the world hostage, while Israel holds Palastine and now once again Lebenon still while they drop ‘american made’ bombs, anywhere they chose..
If we keep allowing Israel and this government free rein, we show the Middle East that we are also their enemy, along with Israel, and as they can’t seem to stop us from helping to kill them and destoying their countries, by invoking international law and public condemnation, we are not leaving the Middle East much choice, but to see ‘us’ as a direct threat to their countries and people.

And to anyone who believes me to be ‘anti-semitic’ just because I dare question Israeli policies or actions, GET REAL, GET INFORMED, because your blind support for Israel has allowed this situation to escalate to the point that the Middle East and then the rest world could very well go up in flames.
