Some Religious Fanatics Joyous Over Middle East ViolencePosted on Jul 20, 2006Apparently some religious fanatics see the Rapture as a silver lining to the current turmoil in the Middle East and can barely contain their joy. Read some truly frightening messages posted to a Rapture Ready/End Times message board. (Harpers via BoingBoing.net)

By Jake Atkisson, December 25, 2007 at 10:13 am # "please visit rapture ready and“please visit rapture ready and all the forum’s before judging rapture ready” Been there. Done it. So, now on to the judging; you lot are a most subtly (and, in some individual instances, not-so-subtly) arrogant, foolish and misguided pile of monkeys. I have read your forums’ content; I have debated several contributors. So, your bluff is called, mein herr; did you have anything else you would like to add, or may we commence with the eye-rolling and ditch-digging, which is precisely what Rapture Ready deserves for it’s overwhelming presence of manifest hubris. I snort in your general direction, I do not care if your beliefs are insulted and, above all else, I sincerely hope that you and all those who encourage your cult’s coercive manipulations towards society’s most emotionally and psychologically vulnerable members choke on your own tongues. Then, at least, there would be a considerable step taken in silencing utter nonsense in the world. In summary: the beliefs held by those proponents of Rapture Ready are no different than beliefs in Santa Clause; perfectly acceptable for very small children in their fancies for such things, but deplorable in adults. Now, let’s go kill us some non-believers in the name of Santa. I feel the need to communicate on the same wavelength as these adolescently striving models for human insecurity, and perhaps the platform of preaching in Santa’s name, or the Flying Spaghetti Monster’s, will be the trick. Who knows. And with that...peace to everyone who’d know what to do with it, and nuts to the rest of you.

By Abe Bird, June 16, 2007 at 4:35 am # Hummingbird: Utilizing English text and letters with Hebrew’s Gematria rules is just deception and fraud. The Hebrew text is written differently than English (almost no use of vowels) and that’s why there’s no match between both texts. And what can you do when the Hebrew text always determine because the Gematria is an Hebrew instrument? BTW, George Bush in Gemetria Gimel, Vau, Resh, Gimel and Beth, Vau, Shin, is only 209+308 = 517. So Goerge W. Bush is not a devill even in your wet dreams!!!!!!
By DChicago, July 26, 2006 at 4:03 pm # I think the “joy” that we see the Rapture Christians have at this present time is a suicide wish similar to what we saw in Waco. The ones who are in glee and drama, ready to watch and go, are angry hurt people, and really have no real conscience for humanity. They’re self absorbed in their pain, and they want relief, at any cost. They would never committ suicide on their own, it is against their believes, but hey believe in a mafia like massacre for those left behind. This is very very sad for them, and a real twisted perception of God. The power that many of these “joyous” christians feel believing the rapture is near, is also a big issue. Their is power in feeling special over others, and its abusive when they fantasize through LA Haye books, and other things, how they are great and the others are burnt like the Jews in the times of Hitler. That is not the God I know. One more thing, think about this, how could our Christian president have such powerful Chistian values such as the ones mentioned above, yet, he tauts our country is free and tolerant of all faiths, differences, hugs and love, we are great, blaa… Is our preident more tolerant, and more loving than the God he loves who will burn people in hell who dont accept Christ? Doesnt that seem really BIG of our president?

By Hummingbird, July 22, 2006 at 1:06 pm # How can people rejoice in the pain of others? The Christianity that I grew up with was about love, not punishment. Bush and his regime are pointing sick and lonely people in the wrong direction. My fears stem around the government here. Please look at this article. I would love other opinions.
By joseph, July 21, 2006 at 10:57 pm # im one of the big watchers on that site i gotta say this is one of the most twisted articles ive seen we dont rejoice of the violence in the middle east we rejoice that the world is going to be made peaceful when god returns.
By John, July 21, 2006 at 1:42 pm # It is not a rooting for the end of the world. It is realization that time is ticking quickly to the horrific 7 year period mentioned in Revelation. If you see non-US leader temporarily solve the Middle East Crisis then realize, it has begun. He will make a peace treaty for 3 1/2 years and then break it, demanding world-wide worship of himself-ACLU will be forced to agree or be killed. No, it is not rooting. It is a realization bad things are coming to this planet and man cannot stop it, only curtail it. Asteroids will hit earth. 1/3 of sea creatures, ships, and rivers will be destroyed or contaminated from the two asteroids. This after a world-wide earthquake affecting every mountain and island causing everything to be rearranged. Who will be the cause? Jesus Christ. He will pour out his wrath on man’s sin.
By the porking wress, July 21, 2006 at 6:47 am # This rooting-for-the-end-of-the-world attitude is a dangerous philosophical cop out.
By TomChicago, July 21, 2006 at 4:21 am # It is a faith-based madness that has has fueled these worldwide blood feuds for generations. The glee of Rapture sects at the Middle Eastern carnage is only the latest, most insane development. Religion has become synonymous with hatred, justified by thumping on their “Good Books”.
By r, July 20, 2006 at 3:06 pm # This is John Nelson Darby’s legacy and that also that of Samuel Untermayer, who financed the Darbyist Bible, the Schoefield Reference Bible. Thanks to them, the worship of a foreign state is considered normal to many people in the United States, particularly to its present leadership. One would think that the worship of a foreign state would disqualify Bush from being president but I guess security and loyalty from their leaders to their own country are not big issues with Americans.
